Mrs. Jerry McCord, Lincoln spent several days with her parents, Mr and Mrs. William Baier this week and her family came down for Christmas. Friday evening guests at the Harold Staack tor his birthday were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hun terman and sons; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Geschke; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dodenhoff; Mrs. Christ ine Staack and Farley. The Avoca Homemaker 4-H club reorganized their club last week. The new leaders are Mrs. Richard Norris and Mrs. Lenord Brinkhoff. Mrs. Albert Bose the retiring leader has led this club for six years since it was organ ized. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hall strom spent Sunday at Topeka, Kans., as guests of her brother and family, Lt. and Mrs. Fredric Hefner. Mr. and Mrs. Paul LinharcU held open house Saturday Dec. 27 honoring their 25th wed ding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doden hoff attended a card party at the Bill Mueller home at Cook Sunday evening. The Avoca Public School and the department of Music presen ted a Christmas program Dec. 22 at the school auditorium un der the direction of Don Mattox. The high school girls glee club and boys glee club presented Christmas carols and several solos with back ground chorus candle lighters. Crystal Seege.l and Beverly Brinkhoff Then "Red Candles" was presented in two acts written by Furrand Wil son. All the students of the high school and grades took part and was well presented to a full house not even standing room. Accompanists were Mrs. Henry Smith and Miss Linda Rohlfs. Much credit goes also to the mothers who made the costumes, the teachers who worked so hard to put this over. Mrs. Roy Ruhge entertained at a coffee Friday. Present were her mother, Mrs. Charles Ott, her sister, Mrs. Ellis Mercer, Mrs. Leo Wilcox, Mrs. J. H. F. Ruhge, Mrs. Minnie Neumeister.
