Homemaking Notes The holiday season is an es pecially busy time for Exten sion and 4-H Club families. Many clubs held Christmas parties. Often the whole family was in cluded for the annual Ret-together. Your Home Agent enjoyed visiting several Christmas meet ing's and became better acquain ted with club members. It is interesting to hear of the many worthwhile projects sponsored by local Home Extension clubs in Cass County. Many rest hom es, children's homes, hospitals and homebound persons are re membered not only at Christ mas time, but all through the year. The inspirational programs given at many Extension club meetings bring the true mean ing of Christmas closer to every heart. The Avoca Homemakers 4-H Club has reorganized for 1959 with two new leaders, Mrs. Rich ard Norris and Mrs. Leonard Brinkhoff of Avoca. Mrs. Albert Bose has done a fine job lead ing this 4-H Club for the past six yea's. Did you buy a froden turkey for your Christmas dinner? May be you think you are real mo dern. It might interest you to know that frozen turkeys were on sale in Massachusetts some thing like 300 years ago. An early keeper of chronicles in Philadelphia reported a wild turkey weighing 50 pounds be ing brought to the local market by a hunter. The settlers in Georgia paid "four pence" for a wild turkey bought from the Indians. Today's turkeys are much plumper, meatier, more tender and juicy than the wild turkeys of long ago, or even the tame turkeys of a generation ago. Some tips for your holiday meals: One auart of gravy makes 12 to 15 servings. One pound of fresh cranber ries will makp 10 to 15 servings of relish or sauce. One package of frozen veget ables makes 3 to 4 servings. Mrs. Nancy Sutton, Home Ex tension Agent. FALLEN AMONG THIEVES Tonkawa, Okla. - The Rev.
