John Fischer Phone 7304 ::n: Friends of the Charley Her mans family received word of his death on Friday evening at his home after suffering a pro longed illness. He was born and raised on a farm northwest of Eagle and near Prairie Home. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Walton, where the funeral services was to be Monday, with Rv. F. L. Cress officiating; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Francke furnishing the music. Survivors are the wife. Elsie; son, Irwin of Kernel, Utah; 4 grandchildren, brother, Fred Herrman. Alvo. Burial was at Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. William Pruess. lng of Lincoln, visited her sis ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Underwood Sunday after noon and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fye of near Unadilla visited her cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wall late afternoon Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wall and his mother, Mrs. Ray Wall visited their daughter, Sharon at Lincoln Sunday afternoon. The latter is attending the University of Ne braska. The Young Adult Sunday Sch ool classes had their social and fellowship hour at the church Monday evening, the 24th. The WSCS members will meet next Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at the Eagle Methodist Church with Mmes. Dan Fltzgibbons and Frank Frohlich, co-hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips daughter, Gracie and grandson, Bobby Manning spent Thanksgiv ing Day at their daughter's home, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Novak and three sons near Crete Nebr. His parents were also present. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Phillips and family of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Novak and family of near Crete were din ner guests at the Robert Phil lips home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harley Smith accompanied their granddaugh ter and family, Tech Sgt. and Mrs. Art Wade and family of Lincoln to Ottawa. Kans., last Wednesday and visited Mrs. Wa. de's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Duffield. On Thanksgiving Day, all were dinner guests at the home of latter's sister and husband. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pet ers at Kansas City. Mo. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer of Eagle, Kathy Einfeldt, Lincoln and Mary Fischer, Elmwood, spent Thanksgiving Day at the Dick Fischer home near Alvo. The latter's daughter and fam ily, Bob Schiermanns of Green wood and their son. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fischer and son of Lincoln, were also dinner guests. The Lichty family moved re cently from the Bogenrief pro perty to the house north of the DX Gas station formerly oc cupied by the Lloyd Richards. The latter are now residing at Lincoln, where both are employ, ed. Mr. Laveme Weyers resigned his position as janitor of Eagle Schools and Jake Rodaway has been hired, and assumed the du ties, Dec. 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rudolph and family entertained with a dinner Thanksgiving Day, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casper Spohn, of Beaver Crossing, and latter's daughter, Mary Spohn of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. John Rudolph and son, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rudolph and family and their two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stege and sons of Elm wood, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Stub bendick and family, Unadilla, enjoyed a family basket dinner at their daughter's home, Dr. and Mrs. Niel Pettinger and fam ily at Syracuse, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirch hoff visited her cousins. Henry and Minnie Grafe at Avoca Sun day evening, in observance of Miss Grafe 's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. George Kirch hoff of Weeping Water called at the home of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kirchhoff Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Borne meier family of Elmwood, were dinner guests at the home of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning, and sons on Thanksgiving Day. Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson of Palmyra, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orris Lanning and family Friday evening. Mrs. Herbert Oberle attended the Board of Directors meeting at St. Louis Mission for the Lutheran Missionary League. Prior to the meeting she visited her brother and family the Lyle Seiko's at Poplar Bluff, Mo., for a couple of days. On Thanksgiving Day, the Her bert Oberle family were dinner guests at the Albert Francke home, near Walton. The Evening Eagle Extension Club members met at Mrs. How ard Root's home for the Nov ember meeting. The members decided to remember some folks with assorted Christmas cook ies during the holidays. The Christmas party will be at Mrs. Evelyn Ransford's home for the December meeting. Carole Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Schmidt, ob served her birthday by enter tain! ns her eirl classmates on last Saturday, Nov. 22nd. at her home. All enjoyed a roller skat ing party at Elmwood, during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Sunday evening supper guests at the Roy Richards home were Mr. and Mrs. Willis Richards of Havelock. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kelly visited at the Ed and Wm. Fitzgerald home at Murray Thursday after noon. Mrs. Vvrl Livers was pleas antly surprised Friday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Keith Livers and Karol of Ashland, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dill and fam ily came with birthday lunch and spent the evening with her on her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Boldan and family, a brother, Mr. and Mrs. De Los Orcutt and family of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Swa rts mother, of Denver, Colo., were also at the McCreary home for the family dinner. They re port 10 inches of snow at Cin cinnati while there. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trumble visited at the Arthur Peterson home at Omaha last Sunday. Melvin Mayer of Lincoln accom panied them. A family Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed at the John Ron hovde home on last Thursday. Those present were the John Berrys of Bellevue, Geo. Soren sens of Lincoln, Arthur Ronhov des, Fremont, Herman Caskeys, and Robert Ronhovdes, Omaha. George Hall of Elmwood was an honor guest at the home of her cousin, Mrs. Laura West. Other visitors for the afternoon were Mrs. Hall's attendant Mr. Henry Schafer, Elmwood and her nieces Arlene Fitch of Elmwood and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup of Weeping Water in observance of her 90th birthday. Fis cher home, last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Busker and! family of Elk Point, S. Dak., visited at her parents home, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams.during the Thanksgiving weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wall and two daughters, Sharon and Glen da left on last Wednesay evening for Battle Creek. Mich., where they visited their daughter, Mar lene and family, the Orville Con ner's at that city, returning home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root and and family enjoyed the Thanks giving festive at her brother's home, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kna up, and family at Weeping Wat er last Thursday and spent the evening at his mother's home, Mrs. Grace Root, near Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sorensen and family of Ruskin, and Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Doran and family of Hebron, spent Thanksgiving Day at the Mmes., parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scattergood, last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland visited his sister, Mrs. Cecil Pet tit at the Lincoln Hospital Sun day afternoon. Mrs. Pettit had the misfortune to break her hip recently. It is reported to be mending satisfactorily. and children attended a 25th wed ding anniversary party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ball at Cercsco Saturday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Pies Proctor of Ashland were Sunday afternoon visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thiessen. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cox en. tertained at dinner Sunday in honor of their daughter Kimmy on her 2nd birthday. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Craig Moller and boys, and Tyler Nunn of Ashland. Kans., Mel Emeigh of Crete, Don Siecke of Pilger, Mrs. Harold Olson and Kevin of Omaha. Mrs. Wm. Strabel of Elmwood spent Sunday with Mrs. Ed Kel ly. The ladies made plans for the Cass County Polio Drive in January. Mr. and Mrs. James Wiszmann and children, Bill Carnicle of Humbolt, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Haswell at Murdock Sunday. The dinner honored Mr. Carnicle on his birthday. Mrs. Riley Davis, Karol, Kent and Gary visited Saturday morn ing with Mrs. Jesse Fidler and Elinor. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith left Saturday for a tour of the south on their return to their home at Riverside. Calif. They have been the housguests of the Glen Kuhn family the past week. Clyde Haswell of Murdock and Larry Carnicle were dinner gu ests Monday with the Tom Car nicle family. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rau of Mur dock were Sunday afternoon vi sitors at the Dave Campbell home. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Campbell of Lincoln spent Sat home with the Campbells for a few days visit. M-S Robert L. and Mrs. Miller and 2 boys of Alburquerque, N. Mex., spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Milford Meisinger and family. Mr. Miller is a brother of Mrs. Meisinger. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cox vi sited Mrs. James Dixon at Oma ha Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fleisch mann visited with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lorensen and Ken neth Sunday afternoon. A birthday supper was held Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Isaac, hon oring the birthday of Mrs. Is aac. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nickels and children of Papillion, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Foster and sons of Kearney and Mrs. Donald Jan-ecek. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Puis of Manley visited his brother Joe Puis in the Methodist Hospital In Omaha Friday. Joe suffered a broken jaw in a recent acci dent. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Meyer had their small son. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Spangler Bill, Debbie and Henry were hosts to a family dinner on Nov. 22 in honor of Mrs. , Everett Spangler's birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Spangler of Omaha, Mrs. C. D. Spangler, Mrs. Orville Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Todd and Amy. Mr. and Mrs. Charles 'Martin visited Nov. 22 with her brother Joe Puis who is in the Metho dist Hospital in Omaha. Mr. Puis had an accident with his truck and suffered a broken jaw and bruises, he returned home on Tuesday. Mrs. Fave Jose of Platts mouth called on Mr. and Mrs. George Nickels Nov. 23. Patti and Margo Whipple, dau ghters of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whipple underwent tonsilecto mies at Brown's Hospital in Ne braska City. The girls are up and around and feeling much better at this time. Linda Baker of Omaha visited with Kathy Rice. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Camp bell of Lincoln visited on Mon day at the Fred Campbell home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Schmidt, Patsy and Tommy of Platts mouth were callers in the Char les Martin home Nov. 23. The Chi Rho World Overnight Fellowship met at the 1st Chris tian Church in Omaha. Those attending from Murray were Gay and Janet Gansemer, Linda Gregg, Carol Smith, Holly Vest, Gene Noell, Jimmy Gruber and Olin Redden. Also sponsors Mrs. Sheldon Smith and Mrs. R. A. Noell. Mr. and Mrs. George Minford are parents of a boy born Nov. 25 weighing 8 lb., 5 oz. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ches ter Sporer and Mr. and Mrs. Will Minford. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lan caster, Mr. and Mrs. John Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hob scheidt attended the Square Dan ce Festival at the Elms Ball Room in Syracuse Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hostet ter spent the weekend visiting Mrs. Hostetters brother and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Don Morris and sons in Albion. They also did pheasant hunting and had very good luck. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Martin are parents of a boy born at Clarkson Hospital, Nov. 24. He weighed 7 lb., 9 oz. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boedeker and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Martin of Lincoln. Mrs. Martin is the former Nancy Bo edeker of Murray. The United Presbyterian covered dish supper Nov. 22 in honor of Howard B. Hutchman's on his 77th birthday. Mr. Hutch man was the subject of a This is Your Life presentation. Olin Morris played the part of Ralph Edwards. Mr. Hutchman was born near Pittsburgh, Penn., in 1881. He has one brother, Edwin Hutchman and one sister, Mrs. Edwin Hicks, both of Lakeland, Fla. They both furnished much needed information. Also his fos ter daughter, Mrs. Frances Crow of Denver, Colo., and Rev. Mor ris of Oakdale, Iowa. He went to the seminary in Pittsburgh where he met Roy Morris and was sent to Murray for his first charge in 1913. He married Miss Ida Boedek er in 1915. During his preaching he lived in Wisconsin. Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and back to Em poris, Kans., where he retired in 1939 and then moved to Mur ray. Mrs. Hutchman died in May, Numerous gifts were present ed Mr. Hutchman including a camera from his daughter and family.
