? Wt Mrs. Wilbur ss fietty June Offutt Man at Murray Church Miss Betty June Morris, dau Chter of Mr. and Mrs. Ople O. Morris of Murray and Mr. Wil bur L. Vifjnall of Offutt Air Force Base were married Nov. 16 at the Murray Christian Church in a 2 p. m. ceremony. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Claude Vignali of Baraboo, Wise. Eeverend Victor Schwarz. pas. tor of the church officiated at the ceremony in the presence of 200 guests. Baskets of gold and bronze chrysanthemums and pom poms decorated the church altar. Mrs. Richard Sack, organist, played the wedding music and also accompanied the soloist. Mrs. Duane Noell. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of chantilly lace and tulle, an original by Alfred Angelo. The snug bodice featur ed a sabrina neckline of scallop ed lace and long tapered and pointed sleeves. Her tiered illusion veil was caught with a Jewelled crown, and she carried an or chid on a white Bible. Miss Shirley Hild, maid of honor, and Miss Janice Morris, sister of the bride, were iden tically gowned In olive green satin princess style frocks. Each carried a cascade of gold and bronze pom poms and chrysan themums. Mr. Lawrence Vignali, brother of the bridegroom of Baraboo, Wise, was best man. Ushers were Gary Morris of Murray, brother of the bride; Airman John J. Huderle, Omaha and Airman Joseph Casey of Offutt Air Force Base. For her daughter's .wedding, Mrs. Morris chose a dark blue suit with black velvet trim and black accessories. The bride groom's mother was attired in a black taffeta dress with black and white accessories. The mo thers each wore a corsage of white roses. Following the wedding cere mony a reception was held in the church parlors with Mrs. Raymond Lancaster in charge. Mrs. Paul Weible, Nebraska City, poured coffee; Mrs. John J. Huderle of Omaha, poured punch Miss Minerva Schliefert, Mur dock served the wedding cake, Miss Donna Duncan of Meade, presided at the guest book; Miss June Wagner, Mrs. Havley Say ers. Mrs. Doris Bchrends had charge of the gifts. After a wedding trip to Denver the couple will make their home at 5008V2 So. 45th Street, Omaha. Engagement Of Catherine Burdick Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Burdick of Malvern, la., are announcing the engagement of their dau ghter, Miss Mary Catherine, of Omaha, to William Wood Krat ville, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Kratville. The prospective bride, a coun tess in the 1955 Ak-Sar-Ben court, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdicki of Norfolk and the late Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Schneider and niece of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Schnei der of this city. She is a grad uate of the Plattsmouth high school, Brownell Hall in Omaha and the University of Nebraska where she was a member . of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Mr. Kratville was graduated from the University of Omaha and has done graduate work at the university. The young people plan a win ter wedding in Omaha. New Members To Nat'l Honor Society TI12 Jessie Whelan Chapter of the National Honor Society held initiation Wednesday In the high school auditorium at three in the afternoon. Fifteen senior members of the society entered the auditorium attired in blue robes, and took their places on the stage. John Konfrst, president open ed the ceremony and welcomed everyone. Senior members ex plained the four cardinal virtues of the organization which are Character, Scholarship, Leader ship and Service. The Torch, Keystone and the Emblem of the society was also explained. Sixteen junior members were inducted into the society and presented with a scroll and a yellow rose. New members are Sharon Haecke, David Cappell, Dana Luther, Kay Casey, Charles Stoehr, Charles Toman, Noveda Humiston, Winnie Sporer, Pat Toman, Larry Christenson, Francis Lebens, Carolyn Vin udska Marlene Sitzman, Mary Wohlfarth, Jacqueline Zajic and Susan Sharp. Mr. O. Mussman, high school principal, spoke to the group and presented each with a mem bership card. After the initiation ceremony a tea was given in the home making room for the parents, teachers, the new members and faculty. Mrs. Joe Lockman Is Club Hostess Mrs. Joe Lockman was host ess to the Merry Workers for their November meeting. Mrs. Art Toman presented the lesson "Insurance". Much Infor mation concerning What we should know about Insurance was given. Plans for the annual Family Party were discussed. Final ar rangements will be completed by a committee appointed by Mrs. Fred Bein, president. Following the business meet ing a silent auction was held. i There was much spirited bidding ! for the many home baked foods and handmade articles contri i buted by the members. I The December meeting will be a covered dish luncheon at 12:30 at the home of Mrs. Fred Beins. Navy Mothers Tag Day Nets $107.41 Navy Mothers Club "680" met at Consumers club room Friday afternoon with a good number present. Mrs. LeRoy Covert, comman der, presided at the meeting which opened with the presen tation of flags; opening prayer by chaplain, Mrs. W. Henings; all repeating "The Lord's Pray er" and preamble. It was voted to send $5 to Bakeless Bake Sale for State Navy Mothers club. Committee in charge of Tag Day reports $107.41 from sale of tags. This will be used for Welfare and Christmas presents j to Veterans Hospitals. ' Each member will bring a gift i for the gift shop at Veterans . Hospital, also an exchange of I gifts for the Christmas party. Hospital chairman reported on visit to hospital for games party, I $10 was given in canteen ser vice as prizes. A buffet dinner was prepar ed and served by their children to CO relatives at noon. Open house was held from 2 to 4 with 148 signing the guest book Ray and Harold Smock were greeters at the door. Mrs. Harold Smock was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Al Smock in charge of the serving table. RLDS Meets At Burcham Home Mrs. Howard Burcham was hostess to the Women's Depart ment of the Reorganized church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Wednesday evening. Eight members were present. Mrs. Elwin voolman had char ge Of the devotionals. The meet ing was opened with a song and prayer. Mrs. Coolman then read scripture and a reading from the Daily Bread. Lesson "I Witness Through Service to My Community" was given by Mrs. Robert Tilson. She stressed ways and means concerning womans responsibil ties In serving the community. Plans were made and discus sed concerning the Christmas activities. Cay Blue Birds Have Meeting Thursday the Gay Blue Birds held their second meeting at the home of Mary Kay Hen ningson. The meeting was cal led to order by president Lor raine Beasley. The treasurer's report was given by Vicki Mlock. The minutes of the last meet ing were read by Mary Kay Hen ningson. We worked on our Christmas Project. A story of Blue Birds was read by our leader Mrs. Beasley. Mrs. Beasley made a Blue Bird house and showed it. We received our charter and membership cards. We decided to give a fruit basket to a needy xunmy ior xnanKsgiving. Refreshments were served by Mary Kay's mother. The next meeting is Nov. 26 at the home of Twila Garrett Lin Dee Raymond, reporter. Price cut the cake, Mrs. Dale Harms served the ice cream and Mrs. Charles Mendenhall poured coffee. Two grand daughters were in charge of gifts, Mrs. Farnum Taylor and Pat Smock. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Smock have lived most of their 50 years in Cass county, being married at Weeping Water, Nov. 7, 1908. Four of their 5 children were present Mrs. Mabel Hendricksen, Council Bluffs; Ray, Harold and Clara of this city. Alvin, also of here is hospitalized and couldn't attend. A brother, W. S. Smock and wife from Huntington Beach, California; a. sister, Mrs. D. A. Byrn from Gruntap, Mo.; sever al neices and nephews from Gruntap: Mrs. E. Goding from Redland, Calif, and others from Kansas City, Mo.; Edina, Mo.; Nebraska City, Otoe, Weeping Walter, Syracuse, Council Bluffs, Omaha, Bellevue. and friends from Plattsmouth were present. Mrs. Maycroft Writes From Portland, Oregon Mrs. D. A. Maycroft has been added to the subscribers list to the Plattsmouth Journal. Mrs. Maycroft now resides in Port land, Ore.; a onetime resident of Plattsmouth, she is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Koplschka. Mrs. Maycroft has made her home in Portland since 1942. Her three children reside there also. They are Maxine Ware, Norman Simmons who is with the Port land Police Force, and another daughter, Mitzl.
