Miss Harriet Jane Kastens Weds Richard H. Koch At Otoe AVOCA (Special Sunday eve. ning Miss Harriet Jane Kastens, Avocr. and Richard H. Koch, Dunbar were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Otoe with the Rev. R. M. Sauberz wei officiating at the ceremony. Mrs. Alan Young, Syracuse, was soloist and Mrs. Lenord Nutzman, Unadilla, was organ ist. Baskets of white mums and seven tiered candelabra graced the chancel. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kastens of Avoca and the bridegroom is son of Orvill and the late Mrs. Koch of Dunbar. The bride, giv en in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of re embroidered chantilly lace and tulle over bridal satin. The fitted pointed bodice of lace featured a portrait vckline with a yoke of illusion finished with a round color of the same lace and long pointed sleeves. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with a point ed peplum of lace falling over a full flounce of tulle over a ruffled tulle underskirt. Her fin gertip veil of imported illusion was caught by a half hat of lace, studded with irridescent sequins and seed pearls. She car ried a cascade of pink roses. Mrs. Richard Kastens. sister-in-law of the bride was matron of honor. Miss Edith Poppe and Miss Bonnie Peoples, both of Otoe were bridesmaids. Kenneth Koch was his bro ther's best man, Duane Hillman, Harold Kastens, Richard Kas tens and Howard Gorton were ushers. Lighting the tapers were Clifford and Stanley Koch, bro thers of the bridegroom A reception followed the cere mony. Mrs. Clarence Wohlers served punch. Mrs. Harry Kep ler served coffee. Mrs. Maynard Hillman cut the cake, assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Steinhoff, Beat rice. Phyliss Hillman, Collen Kastens, Beverly Brinkhoff, Kar en Kepler and Janet Hillman served the bride's table. Mrs. Harry Ross. Mrs. Fred Lock man, Mrs. Robert Young, Mrs. Hans Sauberzweig, Mrs. Calvin Shutz, Mrs. Fred Sporhase, Mrs. Lawrence Paap, Mrs. Alan Paap Sr., Mrs. Alvln Steinhoff, Mrs. Lloyd Witt, assisted with serving. Mrs. Harold Kastens of Avoca was in charge of the guest book. In charge of gifts were Beverly Wohlers, Marilyn Bose," Mrs. Fredrick Kastens. Mrs. William Ireland, Mrs. Allan Biere. The couDle will be at home in North Chicago, 111., after Nov. 10. The Bride, graduate of Otoe High School, attended National Business Institute in Lncoln, and was employed in Omaha. The bridegroom, also a grad uate of Otoe High School, is in the Navy, stationed at Oreat Lakes. 111. Four-Mile Club At Wehrbein Home The Four Mile Extension Club met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Ralph Wehrbein with as sistant hostesses Mrs. Virgil Stander and Mrs Emma Nolt ing Nineteen members were pre sent to enjoy the meeting and social hour. Plans for a Christmas party were made for Dec. 13 at 6:30 at the St. John's Hall The lesson for the day. "Life Insurance" was given by Mrs. Everett Parriott and Mrs. Leon ard Born. Mrs. Lyle Sparks spoke on Christmas Traditions. An exchange student, Jan de Zwart of the Netherlands show ed pictures which were enjoyed by the group. Mr. deZwart was staying with the Sterling Ing-wersons. mm Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hubbell of this city are parents of a daugh ter born November 8th at St. Mary's Hospital, Nebraska City. Mrs. Kubbell is the former Mar garet England. Murdock Couple Note 50th Year Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. John H. Buck greeted aproximately 200 guests in their home in Murdock Sun day afternoon, Nov. 2 in honor of their 50th wedding anniver sary. Hostesses for the honored oc cassion were the two daughters of the couple, Mrs. Bert Meun chau of Eagle and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson of Omaha. Seated at the guest book was a granddau ghter, Mrs. Fred Heirmann of Palmyra; at the " serving table was Mrs. Eppings of Lincoln and Mrs. Richard Broohmuller of Murdock. Adorning the lace covered serving table was an arrange ment of bronze and yellow chry anthemums and five white and glittered candles representing the 50 years. The golden memory book cake was baked by the honoree's dau ghter, Mrs. Lloyd Johnson. Names of the children and grandchildren were inscribed on the leaves of the rose buds de corating the cake. Mr. and Mrs. Buck were mar ried Nov. 4, 1908 at Lincoln.. They were the parents of six children, Otto Buck, Colorado Springs; Carl Buck, Elgin, 111.; Mrs. Bert lines) Meunchau, Eagle; Glen Buck, Murdock; Mrs. Lloyd (Fern) Johnson, Omaha and John Buck of York. Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren all of which were present. Ladies Attend Busy Bee Circle In East Omaha Mrs. Shophia Wolever, Mrs. Pearl Myers, Mrs. Ed Berlett and Mrs. LeRoy Wilson attended In stallation of Insects of the Busy Bee Circle of Military order of Lady Bugs at the East Omaha V. F. W. Post Wednesday night. Mrs. Wilson was installed as Lady Butterfly or junior vice pre sident; Mrs. Myers as Lady Brown Bug or banner bearer and Mrs. Wolever as Lady Caterpil lar or parade marshall. Ferris of Top eka, Ka.ns., was in the city Wed nesday enroute to Omaha to see her brother Earl Lindner. Mr. Lindner who has been a pa tient at the St. Jo eph Hospital for seven weeks was to be re leased Wednesday, and will re cuperate at the home of his sis ter, Mrs. Murl Foiker, 4107 S Street, Omaha. While he is still in a cast his condition is much improved. Miss Margaret Scotten enter tained friends at dinner Sunday honoring Mrs. May Scotten We ber, her .-ister, from Chicago, 111. Mrs. Weber is spending sev eral weeks here. Guests attend ing were Miss Minnie Guthmann, Miss Laura Meisinger, Mrs. We ber, Miss Scotten and Mrs. L. W. Egenberger. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gansemer, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gansemer, Mrs. P. A. Hild and Marie Lutz were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Anna Gansemer. John J. O'Connell, local mer chant, was at Nebraska City Tuesday where he attended the Veterans day observance of "The La.t Man's Club," composed of veterans of World War I. He received the honor of being the member traveling the greatest distance to attend the meeting. Martin Sheldon was taken to the Methodist Hospital, Omaha Wednesday afternoon by Cald-well-Linder Ambulance for ob servation. He is in room 420. A three car crash in Ames, la., Nov. 7 involved the 1947 Chrysler owned by John Conis of Mason City, former Plattsmouth resid ent. Fortunately none of the Conis family were injured as the car was parked and unoccupied at the time. The Conis car was listed as a total loss. She visited with old friends here and in Omaha with her two daughters, Mrs. L. G. Andison and Mrs. Marie Rum-mel. Gene Fee, manager of the B and H Shoe Store was in Des Moines, Iowa, Sunday attend ing a shoe showing at the Fort Des Moines Hotel. Mrs. Frank H. Schuldive of Omaha, a former resident here, was released this week from the St. Catherine's hospital at Oma ha. She has undergone a very serious operation but is reported as well on the highway to recovery. .Mrs. Wayne Keed and Mrs. Golden Ambery, who have been enjoying a visit of several weeks in Kentucky with relatives and friends, have returned to this city. The husbands, Sgt. Reed and Sgt. Ambery are stationed at Offutt Field air base. Mrs. L. B. Todd has been ap pointed State Chaplain of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Mrs. Margaret Kroese has been ap pointed State Treasurer. Mrs. Todd and Mrs. Kroese are mem bers of the Gamma Chapter of Plattsmouth. Mrs. L. W. Egenberger pat ronized the bazaar for the Child rens' Memorial Hospital Monday. 'V Mrs. Gary Younker before her marriage Nov. 8 was Miss Lana Kae Lind, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kay C. Lind of Omaha. The Reverend William Hunter offic iated at the marriage ceremony at the Wheeler Memorial Chur ch, Omaha. Mr. Younker's par ents are Mr. and Mr,s. Vernie Younker of Plattsmouth. The newly weds will reside in Denver. St. John's Has Dinner Sunday Sunday, Nov. 16, from 12 to 3 p.m. at St. John's new auditor ium, the Altar Society and the Guild are giving a roast beef dinner to which the public is in vited. Proceeds of the dinner will go toward the New School Debt Fund. Leroy Wilson, chairman, re ported the Boy Scout drive near completion with good success. Fred Draper was elected Chap lain to finish out the term of resignation by A. C. McLean. The Post will sponsor Capper Publications in Cass County to receive hospital equipment. Leroy Wilson reported on the Dist. No. 6 meeting held at Syr acuse with five members from Plattsmouth attending. Fred Draper was appointed chairman of the "Toy Drive" which will be announced later. The toys will be repaired and given to needy families. Depart ment Junior Vice Paul 'Har mon of Omaha gave an interest ing Veterans Day address Lunch was served by Fitch and Jack Robbins. Lloyd Legion Auxiliary Meets At Eagle EAGLE The American Le gion Auxiliary met at the home of Hallie Stewart Nov. 3 with Elsie Althouse co-hostess. A guest was Anna Fifer. Evelyn Ransford reported on Legislation also a short story pretaining to Veterans Day. Re habilitation chm., Nora Ketel hut reported on having the Christmas assignment delivered. The unit received an "Excel lent" rating for the year's work, also a History Award. Next meeting will be Dec. 8 with Max ine Beach and Minnie Bird, hostesses. Last Sunday's St. John's School Carnival has been called "moderate success." About 125 persons attended for exhibits and games. A little more than $100 was cleared. This will be used to complete the new stage in the school auditorium. Mrs. George Lathrope of Ne braska City entered a clinic Nov. 3 for tests and observation. She is being carefully watched lor complications and is in critical condition. Mrs. Lathrope is known here and is a dear friend of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiele. Lions Hear Talk On Programs Of Small Businesses A subject close to the hearts of those present was discussed by Earl Reynolds at the Platts mouth Lions Club dinner meet ing Tuesday evening. Reynolds of Omaha, a repres. entative of the Small Business Association, talked of the prob lems of the little businessman. He said that up until a few years ago the little businessman had no representation in the Fed eral government. Today, they have a representative of just below cabinet status.
