Each girl answered roll call with their Idea of their outfit for this year's sewing project. Mrs. F. Nickels and girls dis cussed eight kinds of seams; any of which would be accept ed in tlu'ir outfits. Each girl is to bring a samp le of each of these seams to the next meeting and girls mea surements were taken. Meeting adjourned with Mrs Barnard serving lunch. New Extension Club Is Organized Here A new extension club was for med here Wednesday and mem bers selected the name of Mis souri Belles. Mrs. Sutton, Home Extension Agent helped organ ize the club. Elected to office were presi dent, Mrs. Edward Williams, vice president, Mrs. Orval Kah ler, secretary, treasurer, Mrs. Art Tesarek and news reporter, Mrs. Melvin Flint. Others present were Mrs. Francis Kellison and daughter, Gertrude, Mrs. Stanley Lepert and Mrs. Charles Leuhrs. The club members will meet the first Wednesday of each month. Siekman, shown at her farm home a mile east of Fagle, was recently honored on her 80th birthday by her church members. She is the church's oldest living member and she received tributes in verse and song from many church mem bers attending a gathering at the church. Pre-Thanksgiving Party Is Reunion A pre-Thanksgiving party and reunion was held at the home of the Harry Homes in Valley View Saturday. Guests were Mrs. Home's sis ters and parents. Among 21 present were Mrs. Donald Johns and three daught ers, Sherill and Sharon (twins and Carolyn, from California; Mrs. Frank Mixan, Mrs. Arne Overgaard and Mrs. Joseph Du da and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chadnick (parents of the five sisters), all of Omaha. Home Chapter 189 To Elmwood OES A large group of the members of Home Chapter No. 189. OES attended a most enjoyable meet ing held at Elmwood Oct. 30. Home Chaoter and Elizabeth Chapter of Weeping Water join ed with Ideal Chanter of Elm wood to entertain the Grand Of ficers of thp Order of Eastern Star. A large number was pre sent to eniov a covered-dish sup per held in the dining room of the Masonic Hall, after which an informal meeting was held in th, Chapter Room. Mrs. Annabelle Althouse, the Worthy Matron and Sherman Hardaway, Worthy Patron, pre sided and welcomed the guests. Talks were given by the Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Gr and Patron. Miss Susan Cook of Elmwood favored the group with two violinsolos. Humorous readings were presented by Mrs. Parsell of Elmwood and Mrs. Ruby Lancaster of Murray. At the close of the meeting, everyone was again invited to the dining room and refresh ments of decorated cake, punch and coffee were served. Mrs. Alberta Elliott, Worthy Maton from Weeping Water presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Lu netta Hutchinson, Worthy Mat ron from Plattsmouth assisted in serving coffee. Hankies were received by Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Mrs. Bonnie Wolf and Mrs. Barbara McGraw. Plans were made for the Christ mas party Dec. 2 at the home of Mrs. McGraw. Religious Survey In Bluffs, Murray To Be Nov. 9 A religious survey will be con ducted Sunday, Nov. 9, in the townships of East Rock Bluff and West Rock Bluff and in the village of Murray. During the afternoon volun teer workers from both Murray Churches will call in every home in an effort to determine the church membership or church preference of every resident of the area. This survey is part of a county-wide religious survey being conducted under the sponsor ship of the Nebraska Council of Churches. ! S -.. - .: r t ENGAGED Mrs. (.oldie Colby announces the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Miss Patty Lou to Mr. Lester V. Niebrugge, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Niebrugge of Syracuse, Nebr. Miss Colby is a graduate of Peru State Teachers College and is teaching at Plattsmouth. Mr. Niebrugge is a sen ior at the University of Nebraska. The wedding will take place December 20. Murdock Singers To Peru Clinic PERU, Nebr. Approxima tely 400 vocal students, includ ing a group from Murdock will participate in the seventh an nual Choral Clinic-Festival at Peru State College Dec. 6. Sponsored by the Peru State College local chapter 208 of the music Educators National Con ference, the event will bring together students from 15 Ne braska and Missouri communi ties. Daniel Moe, director o choirs at the University of Denver, will be the guest conductor. Two fo the visiting choirs will present demonstration numbers during the morning and after noon rehearsal sessions. A se lect group fom the. Peru State College choir will demonstrate a reading rehearsal of contemp orary music. A free public concert will be presented by the massed chor us at 7 p. m. in the Peru State College gymnasium. CARE Film Shown At Womens Meeting The Plattsmouth Woman's club met Monday cveiing in the demonstration room of the Gas Company office. Thirty - one members and one guest, Mrs. John Tilley of Goodland, Kan., were in attendance. Program of the evening was showing of a film on CARE, pro cured from the Regional CARE Office at Milwaukee. The sound film depicted clearly the part CARE packages and aid play in helping the needy people of other countries help themselv es. The CARE program is a pro ject of the Federation and Neb raska has chosen Colombia, So. America, as their CARE coun try for the current year. Mrs. L. B. Dalton opened the meeting oy reading articles rel ative to the Foundation's Inter national Relations program. Mrs. R. W. Knorr brought the club some Thoughts for Thanks giving as devotional, using Psa 106 and 116 for scriptures. Mrs. Dalton asked that dona tions of bakery goods and food for the Children's Memorial Hos pital Bazaar Nov. 9-10 be. left at her home not later than 11 a.m. Nov. 10 for delivery to the Sher-aton-Fontenelle Hotel in Omaha where the bazaar will be held. Mrs. W. L. Heinrich reported I on the 55th annual convention of NFWC of 1st district held in early October at the Presbyter ian Church here. Refreshments were served by Florence Coleman, Mrs. Carl Ohlschlager, Mrs. Leslie Neil, Mrs. P. F. Rihn, Mrs. Anna Meisinger, Mrs. R. B. Hayes and Mrs. Sophia Wolever. The annual Chicken Supper an Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Aid and Sunday School, Is definitely postponed for this year due to the condition of the Louisville Road but a fall sup per is In the planning. Christmas gifts for the boys in uniform, from the church 'on gregatlon were planned and Mrs. Herman Hennings and Mrs. Arthur Hild were appointed to select and prepare them for ov erseas shipment. The clothing drive for Luth eran Welfare is in progress and clothing should be brought to the church parlors from where it will be transferred to the shipping center. The program was a duet by Mrs. Verner Friedrich and Mrs. Leonard Reincke; a reading by Mrs. Emil Schmidt and a selec tion of songs by Allen Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eirtil Schmidt. t Hostesses Mrs. August Siemon eit and Mrs. Walter Weiss serv ed refreshments. Mrs. Jaycees To Aid In Hospital Bazaar This Month The Plattsmouth Mrs. Jaycees have been very busy recently, completing items for the annual Children's Memorial Hospital Bazaar to be held in Omaha Nov. 10. Each year the Nebraska Mrs. Jaycees sponsor a booth at the Bazaar and each local chapter makes Items to be sold at the Bazaar. Last year alone the Ne brska Mrs. Jaycees booth rank ed among the top four and the items made by the Nebraska Mrs. Jaycees realized $800 for the hospital. Mrs. Harold A. Smock, local chairman of the Mrs. Jaycees Bazaar, announced the local chapter has made and contrib uted one baby quilt, 7 aprons, 3 groups of ceramics, one plas tic decorator doll and 10 outfits of doll clothes. Several members of the local chapter of Mrs. Jaycees plan to work at the Nebraska Mrs. Jay cees booth, which is booth No. 18 at thp Bazaar at the Sher-aton-Fontenelle Hotel in Omaha Nov. 10. All the local items were turn ed in at the last regular meet ing of the Mrs. Jaycees when the members saw a film on the Children's Hospital and the work done there. Edward Shafton, secretary of the board of direc tors of the hospital, and Lloyd Jensen, administrator of the Hospital, were on hand to show thp film and talk to the mem bers about the Hospital. THE FOUR SQUARE CLUB The Four Square Club met at the home of Mrs. F. A. Brunkow. Our lesson on Life Insurance was given by Mrs. August Wen dt. A Dad-Daughter candy rally, Nov. 6 at the Lion's Club Rooms tonight will be the kick-off for the candy sale. Plattsmouth girls each year spend an overnight at Camp Harriet Harding, some spending a week of summer camping. Mrs. Al Hansen is chairman of District 8 (Plattsmouth,' Mur ray and Union), and a mem ber of Omaha Council Board. Mrs. Robert Mann is general candy chairman. More than 3,000 youngsters between the ages of 7 and 17 will begin the 10 day drive in Omaha and surrounding towns. 50,000 boxes has been set as this year's goal. The profits from the sale plus the present building fund of $15,000 will make possible the construction of the new lodge at Camp Harriet Harding located six miles southwest of Louisville. The candy will be available from your neighbor Camp Fire Girl or Blue Bird. Next meeting will be at Mrs. Frederick Schutz's Nov. 11. Sept. 30, six members went on a tour of Lincoln. Attend Baptism Of Niece At Denison, la. Mr. and Mrs. Merline Jochim sen and Yvonne of this city were at Denison, Iowa, Wednes day evening where they visited at thp home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jochimsen and with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jochimsen. They attended the baptism of the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralnh Jochimsen, niece of the Plattsmouth couple. The service was at the Lutheran church in Denison. Saturday Mr. Siemoneit brought to the Journal office a small branch from an apple tree at their farm which bore 17 apples of the early summer variety for its second crop this year. Wrhile some of the apples were small and irregular in shape, others were formed perfectly. A Journal reporter sampled one of the larger apples ami found it to be in "apple-pie order."
