Honorable Contest For her prize-winnnig entry, a baby doll named "Sally Ann," Miss Bergman will receive a Lady Buxton convertible bill fold. Miss Bergman's doll was entered in the nationwide com petition through J. L. Brandeis, Omaha local contest sponsor A trio of judges made their selection from 633 prize dolls picked as winners in the regional Christmas Doll Contests. This event marked the completion of a nationwide competion in which an estimated 45.000 American teen-age girls made dolls for the less fortunate sisters at home and abroad. As a soecial feature of he judgign, two Korean children accepted the dolls on behalf of the many thousands of under privileged youngsters who will be receiving the contest entries as Yuletide gifts. A special "grand prize" of a sixteen-day tour of Europe via Pan American World Airways, from November 14 to December 1, was awarded to the nation's top dollmaker. All doll entries were made from a basic dollmaking kit, containing a plain white sock and a plastic doll face. Judging was on the basis of originality, workmanship and neatness. All dolls, both winners and non-winners, will be distributed at Christmas by Foster Parents Plan, Inc., to needy children in Europe, the Middle East and Korea Mrs. Sporer Hostess To Lewiston Club MURRAY (Special) The Lewiston Social Circle met at the home of Mrs. Martin Spor er on Oct. 14 with Mrs. James Eastridge as co-hostess. There were 17 members present and 3 guests, Mrs. Bob Lewis, Mrs. Robert Kessler and Mrs. Karl Ogg and sons. Mrs. James East ridge led the club in the sing ing of the Club song. During roll call gaily wrapped packages wer passed around which were brought by some of the club members to show how cleverly and attractively gifts can be wrapped and decorated. Mrs. Henry Hobscheidt gave a report of Cass County Federa tion of Womcns Club which was held at Avoca.. The lesson on "Lady and the Law" was pre sented by Mrs. Keith Hostetter and Mrs. Ray Creamer. President, Mrs. Sterling Ingwerson, vice presi dent, Mrs. Lyle Meisinger, trea surer, Mrs. Everett Parriott and treasurer, Mrs, Leonard Born. The lesson for the day "Lady and the Law" was given by Mrs. Earl Becker. Following was a shower for Mrs. Charles Grosshans and baby. November 11 will be the next meeting. Mrs. Garfield Dunning gave the devotional lesson, followed by Mrs. Frank Gunsolley's re view of 2 chapters from "Con cerns of a Continent." Planning the WSCS Chicken Pie Supper and Bazzar for Nov ember 13 was the main order of business. A surprise gift was presented to Mrs. Charles Thomason on behalf of the group by Mrs. Ray mond Hamilton. Mrs. Embree received a contest prize at the close of a game un der direction of Mrs. M. M. Bruce Hirsch Weds Wilma McCuiston , LOUISVILLE (Special Miss Wilma Jane McCuiston and Bruce Alan Hirsch were mar ried October 4 at the Presby terian church in Kingston, N. J. The Reverend Heaps officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. aid Mrs. Howard McCuiston of Tracy, Calif., and the bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hirsch of Lousville. Richard Izquierdo of Morgan, N. J. and Miss Betty Jean Britt of Raleigh, N. C, were their at7 tendants. The couple is living in Prince ton, N. J., where Mrs. Hirsch is a senior student at Westmins ter Choir College and Mr. Hirsch is taking graduate work in con ducting. Pa ternal and maternal grandpar ents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Geschke and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Baker all of Weeping Water. Mrs. Geschke is the former Ma lanie Wright. The Geschke now have three sons and one daugh ter. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Richter of this city are parents of a daughter born October 17 at St. Mary's hospital, Nebraska City. She has been named Valirie Gayle. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Richter of this city and Mr. and Mrs. P. Smith ; of Oakland, la. Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Kammer cr of this city are parents of a daughter born October 17 at St. Mary's hospital, Nebraska City. Mrs. Kammerer is the former Arlene Cowperthwaith. Son Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Ges chke of Avoca are parents of a son. Brian Richard, October 15 1 at Providence hospital, Lincoln. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Geschke and Mrs. A. H. The meeting opened by singing "God Bless America". The club collect and creed were repeat ed in unison. Officers were elected for the new year as follows: President, Mrs. Gardner Ha milton; vice president, Mrs. Lee Eastridge; secretary. Miss Ida Patton and treasurer, Mrs. Ralph Payton. The President, Mrs. Clarence Akeson, gave the county report for the past year. An interesting lesson was gi ven by the leaders, Mrs. Albert Bruns and Mrs. Gardner Ham ilton entitled "The Lady and answer period and open dis cussion on the subject follow ed. At the close of the meeting refreshments were served by hostess Mrs. Lee Eastridge. Party Honors George Born George Born was honored on his birthday Tuesday evening when Mrs. Born had invited guests in for a party. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Art Laughlin and daugh ter, Beth; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Renner and son and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Born. Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Noell were unable to attended. The evening was spent visit ing and later ice cream and bir thday cake were served by the hostess. Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary NEHAWKA (Special)Mr. and Mrs. Wlldon Switzer entertained Sunday from two to nine p. m. complimenting Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiele of Plattsmouth on ther golden wedding anniver sary. One hundred fifty relatives and friends attended. The table was covered with gold satin and net and was ap pointed by gold chrysanthemums and two candlelabra with gold tapers, and a three tier cake with a gold bell. The home was filled with flowers, gifts of the relatives and friends. District 12 Meet American Legion Auxiliary Oct. 18 District 12 of the American Legion Auxiliary held their con vention in Nebraska City Oct. 18. The Auxiliary held their meet ing in the Methodist Church, a coffee hour preceding the meet ing. Mrs. Will Strabel, Elmwood, District President, presided ov er the business meeting. Mem bers were present from Cass, Otoe, Seward, Lancaster coun ties. Department officers present were Mrs. Eula Brown, Chad ron, departmental president; Mrs. Mary McVicker, Lincoln, department secretary - treasur. er; Mrs. Gene McGlassen, de partment rehabilitation chair man, and Mrs. Fern Stage, Lin coln, Girl Scout president. Mrs. Ernest Overton of Ne braska City served as conven tion chairman. Joint memorial services with the post at 11 a. m. had the Nehawka Unit in charge. Mrs. Don Warga of Platts mouth served as chairman of the nominating committee. Mrs. Eugene Vroman of Platts. mouth acted as a judge of his tory books. Leaders were Mrs. Jesse Jor gensen and Mrs. C. E. Morris. Sponsorors are Mrs. Robert Whipple and Mrs. Eugene Nolte. A brief history of Blue Birds, purpose of the group, dues, cos tumes and coming events were discussed with the mothers. The girls made blue felt coin pins in the shape of a bird. There will be a Candy Sale be ginning Nov. 7 thru 17 with the girls will take part in. Girls present were Ililder Stone, Jackie Radtke, Marcia Gruber, Turdy Timm, Patty Whipple, Janet Nolte, Mary and Donna Morris and Cindy Jor gensen. Mothers present besides the leaders and sponsors were Mrs. Brownson Timm., Mrs. Greeley Stones and Mrs. Eugene Gruber. Meetings will be after school on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. At the next meet ing on October 22, officers will be chosen and a club name chosen. The meeting closed with the singing of "I Want to be a Blue Bird" and the forming of the "Magic Ring".
