The WSCS met at the church Thursday with Mrs. John Christ ensen and Mrs. Robert Grun wald as hostesses. Reports were given by all the department secretaries who had attended the seminar at Weep ing Water recently. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Rich and daughters drove to Under wood, Iowa, Sunday and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McQuin and family. Mrs. Elsie Frans' mother, Mrs. Anna Garner, and brother, Archie Garner returned to Un ion last Saturday after having spent two weeks vacationing at Taylor. Bob Kendall met with a very painful accident last Saturday afternoon when he had the thu mb of his left hand cut off in wood sawing. Johnny Carneal was surpris ed with a birthday party at his home Wednesday evening, lie was 12. Roliie Dudic who had been stationed in Korea has been spending two weeks with his fam. ily at the Carneal home. He left Saturday to be stationed at Bal timore where his family will join him in November. Mrs. Charles Meredith. Mrs. Donald Meredith, Mrs. Doris Ford of Nebraska City, Mrs. Ev erett Shoemaker and sister at tended a stork shower for Mrs. Jack Meredith at Auburn at the home of Mrs. George Poulos Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nelson drove to Marne, Iowa, last Sun day where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Seren Nielsen. Mrs. Albert Hathaway is a pa tient at St. Mary's Hospital, be ing taken there last Sunday af ternoon.
