Claire Julian of Plattsmouth stayed with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horton, Sat urday night and Sunday while her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Or ville Julian attended the Bankers Conventon in Lincoln. MOON SHOT TRY Cape Canaveral, Fla. The second United States attempt to shoot for the moon probably will not come until October. The Defense Department says that no date has been set for the next try to launch a satellite around the moon, and that the chances of its coming in Sep tember are unlikely. Thus, theoretically at least, Russia will get two chances to reach the moon first before the United States tries again. fat Good! Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lichty are the parents of a girl born at Lincoln hospital Oct. 7. Moth er and Tami Sue returned home from the ho pital on Saturday. They now have 2 daughters. Mr. and Mrs. William Trumble and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Um land went to Brownville, Neb., and Hamburg, la., Sunday. Fred Felko, 80, of Harvard, father of Mrs. Herbert Oberle of Eagle, died suddenly Thursday. Funeral services were held Sun day. Mrs. Oberle is staying with her aged mother for a few days at Harvard. Engagements have been an nounced by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sehroeder, Palmyra, of their daughter, Verda Mae, to Billy Umland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Umland, Eagle; Mrs. Cassie Adams has made the an nouncement for her cousin, La Vern Stradley of Lincoln, who made her home at the Adam's home for several years and grad uated from Eagle Schools, she will be married Nov. 22 to J. E. Kaar of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Alfonzo Wibbels of Columbia, Mo., visited their daughter and family the H. N. Erskine's last weekend. Richard Jones of Joplin, Mo., arrived in Eagle to assume the duties of the Mo. Pacific oper ator, during the absence of Mr. Al Ballance who has been spend ing several days at St. Louis. Mr. and Mrs. Milford Axe, of Omaha, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scatter good. Mrs. Edward Porter, of Eagle also spent the day at the latter's home. Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilhelm and family visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilhelm near Princeton, last Sunday, obser ving the birthday of the elder Mr. Wilhelm. Nancy Rocken of Seward, visi ted her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Herrold and family last weekend. Nancy is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McDonald, ag. director of KFOR. Kim Strawn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Strawn, spent a few days visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Earl, last week. Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer and Kathy were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Fischer and Carol on last Sun day near Alvo. Mrs. Lena Fisch er and Mary of Elmwood were also guests. Mrs. A. Mrs. Josephine Schlis of Wil ber, spent several days at the home of her granddaughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lichty and 2 daughters. The Study Group of the WSCS of the Methodist Church, met at Mrs. Robert Bowne's home Mon day. Farmers Asked To Help with Acreage Survey Several thousand Nebraska farmers will be asked to help this month In the final surveys on acreage of farm crops harvest ed in the state. A fall survey of crop acreage will be made during the last two weeks of October, A. V. Nord quist, State Agricultural Statis tician, announced today. The information which farm ers give in this survey on the number of acres of corn, wheat, oats, soybeans, and other crops will be the basis for the final acreage figures used to deter mine production of crops in 1958.
