Mrs. Eugene Vroman presi dent presided. Committee reports were as fol lows: . , Membership chairman, Mrs. John Schutz reported our quota as 123 - the unit has 102 mem bers paid to date; 12 new mem bers. Rehabitation chairman, Miss Ida Patton reported visiting Plattsmouth Veterans who are patients in the Omaha V. A. hospital. Miss Patton sent cards to the three patients. The units gift shop assignment for the V. A. hospital in Omaha was re ceived as follows: two dolls, extra blankets, complete ward robes, eight gifts for women, four gifts for boys, four gifts for girls. Mrs. Win. Maston and Mrs. Clarence Fulton will dress the dolls. Sick committee reported send ing one card, one planter and one funeral spray. The year books for the new year was given to the members. The President thanked all the members who worked on the float for the KKK. The District Convention will be held in Nebraska City at the Methodist Church Oct. 18, the following delegates and alter nates were elected. Mmdse Eugene Vroman, John Kalasek, Wm. Maston, John Sch utz, Eugene Krings, Fred Uhlik, Lloyd Fitch, Miss Ida Patton. Mmdse Edgar Glaze, Oliver Schiber, Kenneth Young, Glenn McClure, Fred Feldhousen and Hazel Fitch. Mrs. Don Warga county chair man reported the County con vention will be held in Weeping Water Oct. 29. Volunteers are needed to work at the hospital. Members wish ing to help were asked to call Mrs. Warga. Mrs. Lloyd Fitch asked all the members to wear costumes to the October meeting and everyone is to bring a white elephant gift. Cullom Extension At Wchrbein Home Cullom Extension Club held their September meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Wehrbein with Mrs. John Halmes as co hostess. Seventeen members an swered roll call. The meeting opened with the club creed and Flag Salute. Officers were elected as fol lows: president, Mrs. Otto Peter eit; vice president, Mrs. August Siemoniet; secretary - treasurer, Mrs. Arthur Theissen; repor ter, Mrs. Stuart Meisinger; song leader, Mrs. Leonard Stochr. Creative Design was the les son given by Mrs. Victor Stoehr and Mrs. John Parkening. The October meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Ella Hal mes. Ladies Attend Luncheon In Omaha Mrs. Harvey Gamer and Miss Jessie Robertson attended a one o'clock luncheon at the Black stone Hotel where Mrs. Howard White, Middleton, Del., National President of the Society of Dau ghters of Colonial Wars visited the Nebraska Group. Miss Janet McDonald of North Platte, State President, was in charge of, the luncheon. The Daughters of Colonial Wars contributes to the National Project, Frontier Nursing Ser vice, and establish two nurses' scholarships each year. Mrs. White was commissioned an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. The members are descendants of those who fought on the Bri tish side during the Colonial War. The Dean Morrison family ac companied by Mrs. Alive Perry left today for Kankakee, 111., for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Minor. Mrs. Minor and Mrs. Perry are sisters. Double Celebration In Fremont Sunday The home of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Wilson in Fremont Sunday was the setting for the celebra tion of the birthday of Mrs. Wil son and her twin sister, Mrs. Al bert Wilson of Wahoo. The la dies married brothers. Present for the covered dish dinner were the children of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Wilson, Mrs. John Wondra, Mr. end Mrs. LeRoy Wilson and family of Platts mouth and Mr and Mrs. Brooks Boyd and daughter of Omaha. Also the children of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilson: Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilson and Ruby of Platts mouth; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wilson of Bellevue; Mrs. Ed Maynard and daughter, Wahoo. Also grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Norton and son of Oma ha, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wilson and daughter of Plattsmouth. A most enjoyable day was spent. 5 from County At TB Meeting Five Cass County TB volun teers joined TB workers from other counties Sept. 23 at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln, Nebr., to plan Nebraska's 1958 annual Christmas Seal Sale which opens November 14. They were Mrs. LaVell K. Swarts, Eagle, County Represen tative; Miss Marie Schweppe, Murdock, secretary; Mrs. Har ry Gobelman, Union, vice chair man; Mrs. Oliver Schiber, Plattsmouth, board member; Miss Martha Schweppe, Mur dock, board member. The Christmas Seal chairmen discussed the results of their local Seal Sales and compared them with the state and nation al figures. The health education chairmen met at the same time in a separate session to discuss use pf materials and also their responsibility as a local commit tee to further the control pro gram for tuberculosis that has been going on for over fifty years. This was the fifth of a series of meetings conducted this mon th over the state by the Nebras ka TB Association. Mr. and Mrs. John Krueger and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Reike at tended the Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Krueger were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hite of Lincoln. The R.N.A. Lodge met Wed nesday evening for their regular monthly meeting and social. Mrs. James Mills had a num ber of ladies In on Wednesday afternoon for a quilting on a quilt she is finishing for her granddaughter. Mr. and Mrs. Muriel Gillespie of Casper, Wyoming came Tues day to visit his father, W. O. Gillespie and other friends in Murdock, leaving on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thiel and daughter, Mary left Wednesday morning for Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to visit their son Albert and wife. Albert Jr. leaves for Ger many on Friday for an undeter mined time. Mrs. Ervin Stolhman and her mother, Mrs. Anna Gakemeier were Omaa shoppers on Wed nesday. Mrs. Ed Gralg entered the Sy racuse Hospital on Monday where she is undergoing obser vation and treatment. Mrs. Elsa Hornbeck and Mrs. Anna Gakemeier were Lincoln shoppers on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. George Mooney of Ashland, Nebr., spent Thurs day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lacey McDonald. Y. Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Knorr re turned to their home in this city Thursday evening. They have been spending several weeks at their summer cottage,, at East Battle, Lake near Ken ning, Minn. They report the fish ing has been exceptionally good in the last few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Allen of Fort Lauderdale. Fla., arrived Thursday afternoon for a visit here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Griffin. Mr. Allen is a brother of Mrs. Griffin. Mrs. Glen Lutz and Mrs. Les Hutchinson were in Tecumsen Wednesday attending initiation services of the Tecumsen East ern Star Lodge No. 226. Mrs. Hutchinson is Worthy Matron of Home Chapter No. 189, and Mrs. Lutz is Chaplain. Mr. and Mrs. Gust Heinemann of Niobrara, Neb., were here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buechler over the weekend. Mrs. Heinemann is a sister of Mrs. Buechler and the Heinemann family enjoyed visiting many old time friends in this locality while here. They were also visiting a daughter in Council Bluffs. Bradley Bourne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bourne, re turned home Tuesday after sub mitting to surgery In an Oma ha hospital. He Is getting along fine. Cass County Salon Meets Monday Evening In Club Rooms Cass County Salon No. 441 held their regular meeting Mon day evening the 40 & 8 meeting room. Mrs. Joe John, Weeping Water, Chapeau, presided over the bus iness meeting. The partners were asked to send cards to Mrs. Emmett Cook of Elm wood. . Mrs. Cook broke her foot while in Chicago to the National Convention. One member was acepted into the Salon. Initiation of two mem bers will be held in October. A letter from partnership chairman, Mrs. Jo Brennan, Omaha, announcing a personal award to partner showing the greatest numeral gain by Nov. 1. A letter from Lancaster Salon No. 92 thanking the salon for favors sent for National Conven tion. The Salon will send money to the State T. B. Hospital in Kear ney for Halloween treats for the patients. Todd, who has been visiting his mother and aunt, Miss Margaret Mauzy left this morning for his home in Plat quemine, La. P. A. Meisinger returned home Monday from the Methodist Hos pital where he underwent sur gery. He is getting along fine. Robert Richter has been at St. Mary's hospital In Nebraska City for the past week,- where he underwent surgery. He is ex pecting to return home early this week. Mrs. L. V. Cotenhaver and Mrs. Russell Perry of Harlingen, Tex., arrived here Saturday for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don C. York and family and other relatives in this vici nity. Mrs. Copenhaver is a sis ter of Mrs. York. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Boshear of Watson, Mo., and Miss Sher ry Van Horn of Bartlett, la., were Sunday to spend a few hours, guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor. Sherman Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard O. Cole, is the win ner of a camera and flash at tachment as a third prize in a recent national "Name the Clown" contest. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Heinrich at a waffle supper Sunday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wescott and daugh ter Jane of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Murdock of Gaylord, Mich. try to find out the number of T. B. children In other institu tions in Nebraska and see what can be done for them. Members were asked to attend a T. B. meeting in Lincoln Tues day, Sept. 23. Mrs. Milton Muncie gave a fine report of the National Marche held in Chicago; Mrs. Muncie reported 279 members attended the Marche. Partnership trophies were won by Kansas, 1st prize and Wyo ming, 2nd prize; largest gain in membership award to Missouri; Child Welfare award was won by Oregon. Mrs. Munice attended the re ception for the National Chap eau and the Drum & bugle com petition at Soldiers field. At the close of the meeting members played Dubbs Bridge, prizes going to Mrs. Richard Streeter, Mrs. Albert Inman and Mrs. Joe John won the door prize. Wade Arnolds Make A Surprise Visit Mr. and Mrs. Wade Arnold and sons, Jimmy and Eddie plea santly surprised her parents late Sunday evening when they arrived at the family home. They will be visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Land, and other relatives, Mr. and Mrs. "Hap" Harris and Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Watkins at Union. .
