He f unfilled the pulpit on Sunday at Frankfort, Kans., for a friend. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Plunkett and Wendell spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fulton at Sewall, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dettmer and family were Saturday after noon guests of Lena Roloff of Otoe. They were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kirchhoff and girls. Mrs. Vernon Dettmer and children visited Mrs. Bill Roloff and two boys on Friday after noon at the home of Mrs. Law rence Erhart at Manley. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Schroe der and family were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eno Ahrens of Plattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman returned home Sunday evening after a two week trip. They tour ed the Bad Lands, Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Forest and attended the Passion Play. Mr. Freeman took over 200 pictures. Enroute home they spent from Thursday until Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mc Cann at Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin were Wednesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper. In the afternoon Mrs. Cooper accompanied the Urwin's to Ne braska City. Enroute home they visited with the Edward Ruby family at Union and at the Vir gil Ruby and Dewey Jones homes in Nehawka. Raymond Haith of Plattsmouth was also a Wednes day caller at the Cooper home. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Cooper and family. Sheri Cooper accompanied them home for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Steinkamp visited Mrs. Ethel Groesser Sun dy evening at the Alvin Groes ser home. She is staying with John Dean and Don Groesser while their parents and Mr. and Mrs. John Groesser were called away for a few days due to a death in the family. Sharon Ehlers of Omaha was a Saturday overnight guest of Mrs. L. F. Ehlers. Sunday supper guests were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers and family of Avoca and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers and daughter. Mrs. Ethel Hermann and Mary Lou Meyer of Manley accompan ied Betty Hermann to Omaha Sunday where they enjoyed their dinner and spent tne day, honor ing Mary Lou on her birthday. Leo Kirchhoff left Sunday afternoon for Blair where he will enter his Junior year of school at Dana College. Leo was chosen counselor for 6 boys at one of the new homes that houses Dana students. Mrs. Leroy Zessin accompan ied Mr. and Mrs. Deforest Ward to the Ward reunion Sunday at Bethany Park in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Zessin were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson return ed home Thursday from their trip to Colorado to take their daughter and children to their home. Mrs. Florence Paap of Otoe was a Friday supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff and family. Betty Steckley was visiting at the Hy Kirchhoff the past week and was out in the front yard. She picked up a ring, which was filled with mud. They cleaned it off and found it to be Leo Kirchhoff's class ring that he had lost three years ago. It was a surprise to find it as they had searched thoroughly at the time it was lost. Mrs. Lawrence Wiseman spent Thursday and Friday with her aunt, Mrs. Pearl Andrus at Lin coln. . Mrs. Nell Dowler of Omaha visited from Sunday until Tues day with Mr. and Mrs. Lawren ce Wiseman. Mrs. Clayton Coopw, Ricky and Debbie attended the State Fair Saturday. Mrs. C. F. Weideman was the guest of honor at a birthday party on Monday afternoon in the Methodist Church parlors with 40 in attendance. The guest of honor received many gifts. She is the wife of the minister of the Methodist church. Mrs. Ralph Lindsey of Avoca was a Tuesday guest of Mrs. Leroy Zessin. Mrs. A. H. Jones had the mis fortune to be stung by bees the past week and it was necessary for her to go to the doctor. Her ring had to be filed off her fin ger. Mrs. L. B. Gorthey of Lin coln visited for a few days with Mrs. Jones. The Cascade Club held their annual picnic on Sunday in the Weeping Water Park. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nannen of Lincoln were Saturday even ing and Sunday guests of Mary Nannen. Norman Petersen and Leo Kir chhoff were evening guests at the Alton Sterling home and Joe and Edwjn Sterling accompanied them to Omaha where they went bowling. Mrs. Alton Sterling and Joe visited Mr. and Mrs. Austin Fin ; ley and Howard of Louisville ; Saturday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ossenkop of Omaha were Saturday overnight and Sunday i guests. Thursday I supper guests at the Irons home were Mr. and Mrs. Willis Warner of Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Ches ter Irons and Mrs. Donald Hoff man and boys of Elmwood. Mrs. William Mutter and three children of Denver, Colo., visited a week with Mr. and Mrs. Mur ray Mutter and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson. Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson took them to their home in Colorado and they will visit for a few days. A surprise birthday party was held on Monday afternoon, hon oring Mrs. Carroll Wright on her birthday. The guests came with lunch and gifts to the Wright home. Guests were Mrs. Marvin Wade, Mrs. Harold Thorns, Mrs. Ralp Sudman and Mrs. Bud Schomaker. The Future Homemakers of America met Tuesday evening at the home of Minerva Schlie fert. Nine members and thre chapter mothers were present. Plans were made for the activi ties which were the F. H. A. will undertake this year after the business meeting, watermelon was served bv the advisor, Miss Schliefert and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ham ons and family enjoyed a vaca tion trip to St. Louis, Mo. They also were guests of Mr. Ham mons' father and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hammons of Defiance, Mo. Susan Hobson. daughter of Mrs. R. P. Hobson, left on Wed nesday evening to attend Douch er College in Baltimore, Md. Mr. and Mrs. Burl Richard and family of Akron, Colo., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee and daughters, the past weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sudduth of Lincoln were visiting friends in Weeping Water on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stratton were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stratton and boys. Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Edienmiller and boys were shopping in Platts mouth and later called on Mr. and Mrs. John Kalasek. Mrs. Vernon Dettmer and Mrs. Lawrence Erhart visited Mrs. Bill Roloff and new baby son in the St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City Monday after noon. Margaret Linville left Monday by train from Omaha for her home in Phoenix, Ariz., after spending the summer with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Linville. Mrs. Emma Kaffenberger of Plattsmouth spent two days the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family. The LCPV Extension Club met in Thursday afternoon at the homo of Mrs. Vernon Dettmer. Mrs. Wendell Hart conducted the meeting. Mrs. Merle Ragoss led in the group singing. Missouri and visited another daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gerhard returned home Thursday after enjoying a few days visiting at the '"Lake of the Ozarks" in Missouri and the surrounding territory. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Cantley last week were his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nelson and family of Oceanside, Calif. They were overnight guests enroute home from visiting relatives in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Cantley! received word of the birth of a son, Paul Douglas, to their son, Mr. and Mrs. David Cantley in Washington. He is their fourth son. Mrs. Etta Kirchhoff is living for a few weeks at the home of her son, Mr. an Mrs. Herman Kirchhoff. On Wednesday, visit ors at the latter home were her son, Mr. and Mrs. Hy D. Kirch hoff and son Leo, of Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fleish man attended the Otoe County Fair and called at the Syracuse Hospital to see their neighbor William Swartsman, who suffer ed a heart ailment several weeks ago. He is slightly improved. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gerhard and her sisters, Mmes. Henry Fleishman and Bertha Crandell. visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrenc Krecklow at Man ley on last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Swarts and son Rem, tripped to Minnesota to enjoy a few days outing last Sunday and Labor Day. Beverly Bassett and Delores Avina, of Denver, Colo., visited at Eagle and Lincoln during the Labor Day weekend. Both are employed in the office of an in suurance Co. Miss Bassett attend ed Eagle schools prior to moving to Colorado. Edith Hofman suffered an arm infection caused bv a cat bite. After medical attention, the wound is healing satisfactorily. Saturday evening, LaVell Swa rts and son Kem attended a father and son bowling team pic nic supper at the Peter Pan Park in Lincoli. Kem was one of high scoremen for his team, this last season. Mrs. Matilda Elseman of Lin coln visited at her daughters home, the Harold Walls during Mrs. Wall's hospitalization and convalescing. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mucnehau and sons returned home last Saturday from Colorado, where j they enjoyed a few days vaca tioning and sightseeing. i The H. N. Erskine Jr. family emjoyed a vacation trip to Can ada, recently and returned homo and made a Labor Day weekend trip to Colorado. Gene and Paul Kirchhoff, sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Kirch hoff of Weeping Water, visited, their uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Her man Kirchhoff recently for a few days vacation. J. Morton, of Alvo, and latter's daughter, Ka ye, and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Allen and daughter of Omaha. Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Landgrof of Elwood, visited at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Prange and family last weekend. Rev. Land grof is pastor of the Salem Luth eran Church at Elwood. He was a fellow missionary with the Eag le pastor for several years in In dia. The visiting pastor served in India 23 years.
