Fortunately the only damage was burned out fuses. Mary Jo and David Zech spent Wednesday and Thursday with the F. O. Sands when their brother. Tommy had surgery at Brown hospital in Nebraska City. Gary who spent the past week with the Sands returned home with them. Murray Youth To Frat Meeting Greencastle, Ind. Mac E. Heithausen" Murray will join more than 450 of his fraternity brothers at the Sigma Chi fraternity's 11th annual Leader ship Training Work hop here Aug. 22-27. Meeting on the campus of De Pauw University for the third straight year, the collegians will receive instruction in chapter administration, scholarship, and finance. The St Johns have ben visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bethel and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bethel and son past 2 week.s. Sgt. and Mrs. St John have been sta tioned at El Paso with the Air Force past 4'u- years. Sgt. St John just returned from a year service in Africa last of June thi.s year. Mr. and Mrs. John Hobscheidt returned Saturday from their visit with their son, John and lamily at Corwith and George and family at LaVern. They also attended the Sioux county fair at Algona, la. Union War Dads Unit Gets Awards At State Meeting UNION (Special i Several members of the Wars Dads, Aux iliary chapter 47 union, attend ed the State Convention at Fre mont last weekend. All sessions were at the Pathfinder Hotel. The meeting opened with a council meeting Friday night. Mary Gobelman attended and served on the auditing commit tee. The regular sessions of the 15th annual convention opened Saturday morning with joint services with the War Dads' Ka thryn Harrah served as page. Mary Gobelman rpeorted on Ex tension and Doskia Roddy gave the chapter presidents' report. Personal gifts for most members were won by Dolly Griffin. Eu rice Balfour was delegate and Nellie Patterson was alternate. Five members attended , the joint Banquet in the Pioneer Room Saturday evening. A certi ficate of award was given to union chapter for projects at the Omaha V. A. Hospital. Sunday morning the union chapter presented an impressive Memorial Service with Nellie Patterson a.s chaplin, Kathryn Harrah as candle lighter, Doskia Roddy as flower bearer, Mary Gobelman as soloist and Violet Attebery as narrator. Nellie Patterson and Violet Attebery served as tellers for the election. The following of ficers were elected Mrs. H. A. Mr. and Mrs. Wildon Switzer of Nehawka and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Idenmiller of Weep ing Water spent Sunday even ing with Fred Schomaker at the Henry Thiele "home. Mrs. Kenneth Thompson and Georgia, Brian, Kent and Lori of Downers Grove, 111., are visit ing at the home of her mother, Mrs. F. Halmes and her brother, Peter Halmes and family. Her husband, Kenneth, will join his family here this weekend. Visiting old time friends on the streets of Plattsmouth Sat urday were Nettie ' E. Smith, Philip Smith, Earlen Smith and Earl Smith and wife, Vivian, all of Pacific Junction, Ia. They met with Albert Young of Colorado Springs, Colo., who is visiting here, whom they had not seen in 65 years. Reverend and Mrs. Fred Lang horst and Reverend and Mrs. Victor Langhorst of St. Louis, Mo., left this morning after visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Warga and family and with Mr. and Mrs Don Warga. Homer Lutes, Bill Starkjohn and son went to Canada fish ing. They left Tuesday and will return this weekend. Mr. and Mrs. James Benedict and son, Jimmy, returned Fri day from Houston, Tex., where they have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cotner and fam ily. Mr. Cotner a brother of Mrs. Benedict, who was so gravely injured several months ago, is now able to be back working and bears but few traces of the la cerations sustained in the wreck. This will be pleasing news to the many friends here. 40 & 8 Hold Installation at Papil lion Thursday evening Cass County Voiture 1218 of La Societe Des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux held their installation of officers at the home of Cap. H. L. and Mrs. Gayer, at Papillion, the invita tion being extended by Voyageur Gayer at the July meeting. 'Cap" has maintained his membership in the local Legion and 40 & 8 here for many years. The meeting was held in the attractive recreation room of the home, proving an ideal spot for the business session and the social hour that followed. The installation was conducted by Loyd Behrends, Grade Chef de Train of Nebraska, assisted by Dr. P. T. Heineman, grand Chef de Gare, passe, of Ne braska, as marshall. The officers installed were: E. T. Cuthrell, chef de gare; Albert Inman, chef de train; C. E. Ledgway, commissaire inten dent; Eugene Krings, condec tuer; Walter Stohlman, garde de le porte; Orville Julian, lampis te; Dr. A. E. Johnson, medicine; Fred J. Feldhousen, grand che minot; John L. Jackman, Arthur Warga, Frank A. Rebal, Fred Herbster, cheminot lovale. At the business ses ion it was voted to have the club rooms in the 40 & 8 building reported on September 1st. Joe Zastera and Richard Streeter were named members of the house committee for a term of three years. There was a very pleasing at tendance of the members of the voiture present to enjoy the meeting. Following the business session a very much enjoyed luncheon was served by "Cap" his son, Bill, and his son-in-laws that provided a most delightful repast. Call Your News And Social Items To 241 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. Don Morris of Albion were called to Texhoma. Okla., by the death of Mr. Am- old's mother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hollis. The mother had a severe heart attack and died Thurs- day morning. Services w ere Sat- urday. All but Mr. Arnold re- turned home Sunday; he will re main in Texhoma for a short period. Master Sergeant and Mrs. Ro bert Krejci were guests of their : parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank j Krejci and Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Ganseiner their first Satur day evening home for a dinner and evening out in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotner, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cuthrell, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Dingman and children were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Sedlak and children of Omaha, Saturday evening. Later the adults enjoy ed playing bridge. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schiele are leaving Tue.-day morning to make their future home in Boise, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kalasek and son, Eugene, were visiting here from Milwaukee, Wise, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sedlak. Mr. Kalasek is a bro ther of Mrs Sedlak. After a weeks visit the Kalaseks return ed home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tlustos went to Niobrara to the Tlustos re union Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tlustos accompanied them. Mrs. Robert Long and daugh ter and Mrs. Paul Long attend ed the Everett Reunion at the Harry Gobleman home Sunday. One hundred-twenty five regis tered. This morning Mr and Mrs. Robert Huminston and daugh ter, Noveita, accompanied by Miss Sharon Harms departed for the Black Hills, S. D. to en joy an outing this week. Mrs. Franklin Wehrbein was taken Sunday to the Clarkson hospital by the Sattler ambul ance, suffering injuring sustain ed in an auto accident. Perry I. (Kid) Graves was taken to the Veterans hospital in Omaha today by the Sattler ambulance. He will undergo examination and treatment. Yet a total of 95,000 accidental deaths occurred in 1957 in the United States, according to the National Safety Council about 10,000 more than the population of the Illinois capital city. Further, accident in 1957 in jured 9,600,000 persons com parable to the total population of Illinois.
