Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sudduth of Lincoln were the hosts for the picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Urwin of Murray and Kit and Sheri Cooper were Sunday dinner gu ests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cooper. Mr and Mrs. Clayton Cooper and two children spent the day at the cabin near the Missouri River with Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cooper. Mrs. Emma Kaffenberger of Plattsmouth spent from Tuesday until Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family. Marcla Meisinger is spending a few days in Platts mouth with Aimee and Ellyn Meisinger. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meisinger and family were Wednesday eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bergmann and Debbie. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Akeson, Mr. and Mrs. John Norris, Mrs. Myrtle Wolph, Mrs. Lois Tefft, Jim Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Gor don Heneger, Mr. and Mrs. Will iam Maseman and Mrs. Min nie Burgess of Lincoln were gue.-ts of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nor ris at a smorgasbord Sunday at Steinhart Park in Nebraska City. After the dinner, the guests spent the afternoon at the Nor ris home. The Reckard family reunion and Mrs. Oscar Domingo and was held on Sunday at the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Keckard with 32 of the family attending. Six of the Reck aid children and their families were present for the occasion. Mrs. Grace Harter and Mrs. Eth el Hermann helped in the kit chen. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Irons of New Franklin, Mo., were Thurs day overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Irons. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Irons, Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Irons and Howard Ellis of Nashville, Tenn., were Thurs day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Irons of Elmwood. Lana Turner Dunking Scene Called Sizzler Lana Turner's "sizzling" bath tub scene for Universal- Inter national's "The Lady Takes a Flyer" proved almost too "hot" for the cameras to handle. Cinematographer Irving Gla?s berg's lenses were set up prac tically on top of the tub, and not until he rigged up a special pressure stream of cool air was he able to' keep the steam cloud from fogging the lens. The occasion marked the 40th wedding an- niversary of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bryan. Mrs. H. L. Gamer of this city also attended. . Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dehning have returned from the west where they visited relatives at Big Spring, Colo., and in Kan sas. They also visited at Ogal lala, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. John O'Donnell and daughters, Janice and Sally, are visiting in St. Louis where they are attending a reunion of the 85 division of world war II. Jack was a member of this div ision that was engaged in some of the heaviest fighting of the Italian campaign driving the Nazi forces from Italy. Miss Alice Marie Funk of Chicago, who had been here for a two weeks visit with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Funk, has returned to her duties. Miss Funk is with the Methodist Publishing House of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. James Benedict and son, Jimmy, are enjoying a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cotner and family near Hous ton, Tex., and points of interest in that locality. Mrs. Paul Miller of Buckner, Mo., is here visiting in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Lepert, and getting acquainted with her new granddaughter, Joyce Eileen Lepert. Mr. Mill er was here earlier but return ed home. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Lepert the past week were Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Bennett and children of Island Lake. 111. Mrs. Bennett is a daughter of the Leperts. Mrs. Sybil H-e trick departed Tues. evening by train for Flor ence, Colo., where she will be a guest in the home of her sis ter, Mrs. Louis VanLoo. Also at the VanLoo home will be Mrs. Hetrick's nephews she hasn't seen in many years. They are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sample and baby, Melanie and Donald Sample. Orval Kammerer who has been at the St. Mary's Hospital in Ne braska City for the past two weeks returned home Monday. Calvin Guyer who underwent surgery at the Immanuel Hos pital returned home Friday and is improved. He is gaining strength in his right arm and has some feeling. City Attorney and Mrs. Har old Lebens and family have re turned from a week's outing at Park Rapids, Minn., where they enjoyed fishing and a general rest and vacation. John Iverson and Kenny Das her are leaving Friday for a short outing in the state of Wyo ming, visiting the Yellowstone national park and will also en joy a visit at the home of Frank Hiber, uncle of John at Orvia. Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart and little daughter, of Dallas, Texas, are here for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mar vin Winters, parents of Mrs. Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bethel had as guests Sunday M-Sgt and Mrs. J. J. St. John and daugh ters, Glenna, Lindy and Judy Kay of El Paso, Tex. The St. Johns .spent two weeks at the home of Mrs. St. Johns parents, also Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bethel and son Jerry, Jan and Debbie Ann Rockwell of Omaha, Rose mary Wolski and Stanley Wolski Jr. Valdis F. Chovanec and son, Gary of Alexandria, Va., arrived here Monday to join Mrs. Cho vanec and daughter, Julie, who have been here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Rusk, parents of Mrs. Chovanec, as well as the other relatives and old friends here. Mrs. Edward Williams and children, Pamela and Randy leit by car Saturday morning for Tulsa, Okla., and onto California for a two weeks visit with rela tives. Mrs. Williams other two children, Patty Kay and Gary are staying with their grandpar. I ents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wil- hams Helen Lessman is a patient at St. Mary's Hospital, Nebras ka City, where she entered Sun day night for observation. Mrs. E. A. Fricke Queen Of Ashland Annual Stir-up Mrs. E. A. Fricke, one of the prominent residents of Ashland a short time a resident of Platts mouth, has been crowned as queen of the annual Ashland Stir-up for 1958. Dr. B. H. Baer, prominent physician of Ashland will reign as king for the annual festival. Mrs. Fricke is a native daugh ter of Ashland, daughter of Hugo A. and May Dunbar Wig genhorn. She was graduated from the Ashland schools, at tended Dana Hall at Wellesley, Mass., and Pine Manor. She was engaged in the Farmers & Mer chants bank at Ashland and in 1927 was married to Edwin A. Fricke. Mr. and Mrs. Fricke re sided here for a year and a half and then moved to Ashland where they have since resided. The setting of the coronation was planned and arranged by the members of the Ashland Junior Woman's club. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Estiste and Diane of Nebraska City and Thelma Hallack were Saturday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Freeman and family. trr 2. t & f Jr.. The food chain now bus Mrs. Pearl Mann is in St. Catherine's Hospital where she was operated on Monday. She is expected to have additional surgery Friday. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn O. Sawin were L. N. Sawin and daughter, Lucy ot Anthon, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Keller , of odebolt, Iowa. They spent several days here. Mrs. Charles Walden and son, Dale, left for their home in Ar vada, Colo.. Sunday after visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cacy, other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Davis and sons, Spencer and Scott, re turned Monday from a two weeks outing in the Minnesota lake country. They were in the vi cinity of Brainerd, Minn., and report a real outing with plenty of fishing and the cool lake co untry to enjoy a rest. Mr. and Mrs. sterling Hopkins: and family of Santa Barbara,! Calif., were here this week for a visit with Mrs. Ben Hopkins mother of Sterling, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hopkins and family. They are returning home Friday. Mrs. Otto Marek, the former Edith Gapen of this city, now of Trenton, Mich., accompanied by her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marek and three chil dren arrived Monday night here. They will be guests in the home of her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wiles, south of Plattsmouth. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kellogg and daughter, Mrs. Leonard Attrille and children were weekend gu ests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Sweem. Mrs. Kellogg is Mrs. Sweem's sister. Mrs. Sw eem has been confined to her home for some time since suf-' fering a stroke Mr. and Mrs. Julius Leivian, Michael and Steven are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Herman L. ' Funeral Services For Francis William Pace, Friday, Aug. 1 Funeral services were hold Friday, Aug. 1, 19j8 at the Meth- : odist Church in Weeping Water I for Francis William Pace. Mr. ! Pace passed away in his sleep ! at Rest Haven home in Weeping Water, Wednesday morning, Ju ly 30, 1958. Mr. Pace, better known to his many friends as Frank, spent most of his life in Cass County as a farmer where he had a large number of rela tives and friends who share with the family the sorrow his death has brought. He was born Sept, 15. 18".3 1 at Hastings. Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pace. lie was married to Carrie Bauuhman, Sept. 15, 1907. coming to Ne braska three years later and lo cated on a farm near Platts mouth. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Feme Shaw of Algonquin. 111.; Mrs. Lucille Jewell of Jef ferson, la.: Mrs. Eula Sheehan, Weeping Water; Mrs. Betty An derson. Omaha; Mrs. Jeanne I saae, Manley; one son, Francis R. Pace, Union, 111. Twenty one grandchildren, six great grand children, two brothers. Bert of Glenwood, la.; Omar of Phoe nix, Ariz.; three .sisters, Mrs. Dea Van Buskirk. Glenwood, la; Mrs. Merna Johnson. Ashland: Mrs. Oma Harden, Omaha. Preceding him in death were one sou who died in infancy, his parents, and eight sisters and brothers. Mr. Pace had reached the age of 74 years, 10 months and 15 days. The Rev. C. W. Severn offici ated at the services and Mrs. Doris Hirsch of Louisville sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Go ing Down the Valley", accom panied by Miss Maude Mouiton at the organ. Interment was at the Hillcrest cemetery in Omaha. Tom Livingston Now In Korea Second Lieutenant Tom Living ston writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Livingston, he is well .satisfied with his assign ment in Korea. Hs living quar ters are good, and hs feels he has a wonderful opportunity. He has been assigned as cus todian of Generals Mess Food and in charge of three officer clubs, four NCO Clubs and four enlisted Mens' Club in Division Artillery. Other duties are as sistant adjutant, income tax con sultant and public information officer. He recently went on a buying trip to Seoul. He would lik,? to hear from his friends. Meints nnd Mr. and Mrs. Char les Janacek of this city art spending the week in Chicago attending the grand Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Mr. Meints is immediate past presi dent of Plattsmouth Aerie No. 3(i5 and Mr. and Mrs. Janacek are prominent in the state aerie of Nebraska.
