Cheryl Streeter spent from Wednesday through Sunday of last week at the home of her aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brockley and sons in Lincoln. Thursday evening supper gu ests at the Elwin Isaac home in Manlev were Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Anderson and children of Omaha and Mrs. Frank Pace of Weeping Water. Mrs. Fred Hopp entered the Methodist Hospital in Omaha Tuesday evening for observation and checkup. She will be there for a few days. Overnight guests Monday night at the Mary and Henry Hopp home were Mrs. Mary Maurer of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Mary Bruce of Junction City, Ore. They were guests Tuesday at the Fred Hopp home. They were enroute on a six weeks vaca tion to New York City. Mrs. Mauer was a former Louisville resident. wscs The WSCS held their regular meeting in the Methodist Church July 17. The program was given by Mrs. Amelang. Miss Jessie an account of her work as a missionary but was unable to attend Mrs. Amelang, Mrs. Doermann and Genevieve Funke Rave short synopses of three missionaries from Nebraska, Miss Jessie Brass's work in In dia, Miss Blanche McCarty of Red Cloud also worked in India and Miss Viola Adams and her work in Africa. Hostesses were Mrs. Genev ieve Funke, and Mrs. Alletha Uhley. Mrs. J. B. Colman of Springfield was a guest. On July 28 there was an officers meet ing in Omaha. 4 11 Helpers The 4-H Helpers met at the Ervin Albert home July 17. A demonstration was given by Junior leader Kay Albert and her mother on "How to Make Pizza". It was announced that all mem. bers are to have their project finished bv the next meeting before the fair. Roll call will be "What I Am Going to Exhibit at The Fair." Mrs. John was an overnight guest of Miss John on Friday evening after attend ing the American Legion Auxil iary Convention at North Platte They traveled to Lincoln by bus and were met by Mr. John. Mrs. Fred Ward and Mrs. Her bert Petersen entertained at a miscellaneous shower on Satur day afternoon at the Petersen home in honor of Mrs. John Krogh. Mrs. Charles Freeman and Mrs. Raymond Freeman and Paul accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn to the funeral services for Ervin Ma ther at the Caldwell Under Fun eral Home Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cherry, How ard Rasmussen and Murray Mut ter also attended the services. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bickford and Reggie entertained at a pic nic supper on Sunday evening with the following guests: Mr and Mrs. Robert Gess, Mr. and Mrs. Don Urwin. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Herbic and Mr. and Mrs Reuben Hermansen, all of Louis ville. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baker Sr. attended a Baker family din ner on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence John son, honoring Mrs. Charles Ba ker of Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Lewis Baker entertained at a party Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dohrman and children were guests at a barbecue supper on Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and family. The Sew'n'Sews met Wednes day at the home of Mrs. Loyd Barkhurst. The evening was spent in sewing and visiting. Mrs. Joe Sheehan and daugh ters were Saturday afternoon guests of Mrs. Frank Pace. Mrs. Sheehan and Margie spent Mon day with Mrs. Pace and with Mr. Pace at Rest Haven, v- Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hohman and family attended a 4-H pic nic Sunday noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Pollard and family at Nehawka. The dinner was for the members and families of the Triple T Dairy Club. After he dinner, the group made a tour to see the Pollard calves. Mr. and Mrs. Lyal Fleming and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Eid enmiller were visitors In Lincoln on Thursday. Maxine Eidenmiller and her girl friend from Lincoln were Sunday afternoon and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Eidenmiller and family. Irma Kirchhoff spent Friday at home with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Hy Kirchhoff. Leon Fitzpatrick was a Friday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirch hoff Leo and Irma. Leo Kirchhoff spent the week end In Lincoln with Jim Rasmus-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Sterling and Edwin were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch at Nehawka. Michael and Bobbie Earl of Denver accompanied Mrs. Smith home from a visit at their home and will spend a month with their grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Flovd Smith and family of Omaha were also Sun day guests of Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Alton Sterling attended the birthday party for Mrs. Edith Wiles at Avoca Tuesday aft ernoon. Mrs. Al Bickford and Mrs August Klemme accompanied Mrs. Art Hammond to Shenan doah, Iowa, Tuesday for a trip through the nurseries and gar dens. Miss Lois Patton was the guest of honor at a miscellaneous show er Friday evening in the Chris tian Church parlors. Hostesses were Mrs. Hyde, Mrs. Bond, Mrs James Stewart, Mrs. Lynn Rothe, Mrs. Maurice Hammons and Mrs. David Baxter. Miss Patton will be married Aug. 10 to Gerald Terry in the Christian Church. The annual Crusader Class Party of the Christian Church was held Sunday in City Park. Following dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Livingston, Mr.and Mrs. Maurice Hammons. Mr. and Mrs Leon Bond and Ricky and Char les Paine gathered at the home of Mr.and Mrs. David Baxter and boys. New officers elected to serve for the coming year are Ralph Hyde, president; Leon Bond, vice-president, and Mrs. Victor Plunkett, Jr. secretary-treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. James Wiles, Lois Patton and Gerald Terry were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Patton and family. Jimmy, four year old son of the Pattons had his ton sils removed Friday morning. Diane and Steve Patton spent the day with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patton and Ruth. Georgia Ludwick, Shirley Up ton, Becky and Vicky Van Horn accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Van Horn and family to Nebraska City Sunday evening where the young people and Van Horn swam at Steinhart Park. Johnson and Mrs. Byron Baker were Wednesday after noon pinochle guests of Mrs. Harry Potts. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rut- ledge and David of Seward. In the afternoon the young people went swimming. Enroute home the Bakers visited with Vesta Baker in Lincoln and then visit ed Robert Baker, Jr. at the Vet erans Hospital in Lincoln. He is getting along fine. Mrs. Don Urwin of Louisville spent Thursday with Mrs. Le wis Baker and children. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dett mer and family, were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Jochim and family. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Nordlund of Two Harbors, Mich , 'Visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Thomas Stacey and family. Mr. and Mrs. Elwln Isaac and boys of Manley spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Frank Pace and Mr. Pace at Rest Haven. San Pedro, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Irons were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hoff man and family of Elm wood. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lindsey and Mrs. Edith Wiles and Ralph of Avoca and Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Irons were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hurst at Bedford. Iowa. Mrs. John Groesser and son were visitors on Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Her man E. Schultz at Davey. Mr. and Mrs. George Oliver and three children of Lawrenceville, N. J., are visiting at the home of Mrs. B. A Olive, arriving Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Hy Kirchoff at tended a barbeaue steak fry Sunday evening at the Lutheran Church near Avoca. The steak fry was held by the Brother hood of the church for their families. Mrs. Cyrus Livingston and Mrs. Charles Livingston and daughter were visitors in Lin coln Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schultz and boys of Wal ton were also guests Thursday evening at the Livingston home. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Zessin received a telephone call Sunday from their dauuhter-in-law, Mrs. James Zessin at Opp, Ala., re porting that their son, Jim had met with an accident in Korea. He was taking some training and when he lumped out of the truck, he caught his ring and hurt his finger very bad and tore a deep gash in the palm of his hand He was hospitalized for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Beins uiv the Barents of a daughter, born Friday at St. Elizabeth hospital in Lincoln. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and has been named Pamela Dell. The Beins have a son. Randy.
