Arrest Made for Illegal Beer Sale Al Mixam, owner and opera tor of the Mixam fishing lake north of Plattsmouth, was ar rested by a state liquor agent Sunday afternoon after the agent made a purchase of beer from Mixam. Mixam holds no license to sell beer. Mixam was turned over to Sheriff Tom Solomon and later released on a $50 bond. Arraignment will probably be next week, county attorney James Begley said. "The legislature may re quire each such public cor poration to pay to the treasurer of any county in which may be located any incorporated city or vil lage, within the limits of which such public corpora tion sells electricity at re tail, a sum equivalent to five (5) per cent of the an nual gross revenue of such public corporation derived from retail 6ales of elec tricity within such city or village, less an amount equivalent to the 1957 pay ments in lieu of taxes made by such public cor-, poration with respect to property or operations in any such city or village. The payments in lieu of tax as made in 1957, to gether with any payments made as authorized in this section shall be in lieu of all other taxes, payments in lieu of taxes, franchise payments, occupation and excise taxes, but shall not be in lieu of motor vehicle licenses and wheel taxes, permit fees, gasoline tax and other such excise taxes or general sales taxes levied against the public generally. "So much of such five (5) per cent as is in excess of an amount equivalent to the amount paid by such public corporation in lieu of taxes in 1957 shall be distributed in each year to the city or village, the school districts located in such city or village, the county in which such citv or village is located, and the State of Nebraska, in the proportion that their respective property tax mill levies in each such year bear to the total of such mill levies." Rizzl and McGraw combined to pitch a five hitter, McGraw allowing no hits the last two frames in the seven - Inning game. All but one Plattsmouth play er hit safely and eight got two or three hits. The team has games schedul ed this week at Peru and Pacific Junction. The beginning of most maj or seasons is already known, for Nebraska has standard open ing dates, namely: fourth Sat urday in October for pheasants, first Saturday in October for grouse, first Saturday in Nov ember for quail, and the second Saturday in September for sq uirrel. Nebraska's rifle season for deer is Nov. 1-5 and the arch ery season for deer Sept. 13 Dec. 31. A little yellow dog will chase anything that runs. The Legisla ture shall not authorize any game of chance, lottery, or gift enterprise; but nothing in this section shall be construed to pro hibit the enactment of laws providing for the licensing and regulation of wagering on the re sults of horse races by the pari-mutuel or certificate method, when conducted by licensees within the race track enclosure at licensed horse race meet ings, or to prohibit the enactment of laws provid ing for the licensing and regulation of bingo games conducted by non-profit associations which have been in existence for a period of five years im mediately preceding the application for license; Provided, bingo games cannot be conducted by agents or lessees o such, associations on a percent age basis."
