Funeral Of Former Avoca Resident Held Funeral services were held Wednesday at Roper and Sons in Lincoln for Mrs. Etta Fager, 75, former resident of the Avoca community. The family resided on the Coatman farm northwest of Avoca and their children at tended the Avoca schools. Mrs. Facer was killed Sunday when struck by a car driven by Vincent Brown, 22, as she cross ed R Street near 23rd. No inquest will hp hpld. They will be in active train ing for this period and on com pletion of this will be returned home, being required to drill each week with a unit of the reserves, subject to call for ac tive service in case of an emer gency. The three are Loren Fleisch- man, Steven Pschenica and Ron aid Kruntorad. They expect to go to Fort Leonard Wood. Missouri Funeral Of Barbara Alkire Tuesday Very Largely Attended Tuesday afternoon at 2 o' clock funeral services were held at the Sattler funeral home cha pel for Barbara Lillian Alkire, 24, whose death in an auto acci dent Saturday afternoon had brought a great shock to the community. There was a very large at tendance of former school fr iends and associates to join in the tribute to her memory. Rev. Keith Delap, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, conducted the services. Mrs. Karl Ogg was soloist and Mrs. Fred Fischer as organist. The interment was at Oak Hill cemetery with school friends serving as pallbearers, Wil liam McCormick, Jack Todd, Norman Ashbaugh, Edward Baumgart, Bernard H. Eiting, Richard Tincher. Mrs. Jack Todd and Mrs. Rob ert Snodgrass served as floral bearers. Obituary Of Norman Simon Bornemeier Of Elmwood, Aged 46 Norman Simon Bornemeier, son of Emil and Esther Borne meier, was born on Jan. 21, K 1912, near Elmwood and died at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln at 46. Norman received his educa tion in Elmwood where he grew up. He was baptized in 1912 and joined the church in 1925. He was married June 17, 1940, to Donna Lucille Clark, who pre- ceeded him in death in Jan. They established their home in Elmwood where they dwelt until their passing. The couple's three children survive. They are Larry, Cheryl Ann and Patty Sue. His mother, Mrs. Esther Bornemeier. broth er, Omar, one sister, Nettie Lois also survive. Funeral was Thursday at Elm wood EUB church with the Rev. F. C. Ebinger officiating. Mrs. Lucille Brakhage of Lincoln sai, accompanied by Mrs. Ted John. Pallbearers were Walter Flei schman, Raymond Vogt, Ted Hall, Stanley Wood, Dwight Cle ments and Clarence Souchek. Burial was in Elmwood cemet ery. Minn. The children stayed with their grand parents while their parents were vacationing. Cindy and Kathy Fitzpatrick spent last week visiting with Di ane and Betty Jo Worthan in Omaha. Mrs. Forest Beil and children and Mrs. Robert Campbell were in Omaha Monday and visited at the Duane Sack home. They found Mrs. Agnes Manchester, mother of Mrs. Sack, who re Cntly underwent surgery, much improved and able to return to her home in Wood River. Cath ie Sack accompanied her grand mother home. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nelson called on H. B. Hutchman for a visit. Willard is on his way to California to make a study of advanced men tality students. Gregory Jorgensen, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Jorgensen. underwent a tonsilectomy Tues day at Mercy hospital. Council Bluffs. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Gene Nolte and family enjoyed homemade ice cream at the Harold Rice home. Johnny Hoschar of Cenlral City visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hoschar Thursday. Mrs. Ray Hiley, Artie Ray and Timmy of Glenwood visited at the Frank Fitzpatrick home Thursday. Artie Ray stayed for a short visit with the Fitzpat ricks. Plattsmouth Wins, 11-10, At Louisville Plattsmouth built an 11-5 lead through eight innngs and then hung tight in the hectic 9th to defeat Louisville, 11-10, in an ex hibition baseball game Wednes day night at Louisville. Louisville rallied for its five runs on 5 hits and had the ty ing run on third before Jon Sch uetz who pitched the whole game for Plattsmouth put out the fire. Big blows for Plattsmouth were struck. by Rich Wohlfarth, a three-run triple in the 8th, and Carl Haith, a two-run double in the 6th. Those two got three hits each and Gary McDonald with four and Welton with three paced Louisville. Mrs. Robert Kendall and children re turned with the Guy family for a visit in their Kansas City home. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Rathe of Omaha called on Mrs. Todd last drove to Nebraska City for sup per and spent the rest of the evening with Mrs. Todd in her home. Connie Maggison of Topeka, Kan., is visiting in the Ried home and attended Sunday school with her cousin Phyllis Ried last Sunday. Mrs. Earl Wolfe, Mrs. Bruce Wolfe and Mrs. Don Wolfe hon ored Mrs. Buck Jones of Aub urn with a stork shower at the home of Mrs. Earl Wolfe last Saturday afternoon. There were 30 guests from Des Moines, Io wa, Avoca, Nchawka, Lincoln and Auburn. Mrs. Jones receiv ed many useful and beautiful gifts. Tom Carneal of Kansas City spent the weekend with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Car neal and family. They were all supper guests of Tom's sister, Mrs. Martha Dudick at Nebras ka City Saturday evening and on Sunday they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. G. 1'odd and Mrs. Virginia Wintz of Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dicks of Un derwood, Iowa, are parents of a 7 pound 12 ounce girl, named Kathryn Lynn. Mrs. Dicks Is the former Romana McQuin. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pike are announcing the birth of a girl Sunday morning at St. Mary's hospital. They have named her Tammy Marcene. Rev. and Mrs. Shanklin left Monday to go to Grecnlake, Wis. where they will attend a Bible conference for the next two weeks. Gene Garber will be the guest speaker at the Baptist church during Rev.
