The bride's mother was born at Louisville, the former Terrace Leon Kchafer, daufihter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schafer, and will be remembered by many Ca s County friends. The Reverend Clarence E. Naugle officiated at the cere mony in the presence of 300 guests. Mrs. Don n E. Loo was matron of honor; Mrs. Robert Latta, Marilyn Kingston and Dottle Stohes also attended the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Baron Jr., Torrance, Calif. James Johnson was best man. The newlyweds will reside in Lons? Beach alter their return from San DIcko. Connie Woolhiser, Cavin Crell Wed At Springfield LOUISVILLE (Special Fri day evening, July 11th, Miss Connie Woolhiser became the bride of Calvin Grell of Spring field, Nebraska. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chauneey Woolhiser by the Rev. Donald Webster, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Delmer Grell and Gene Meyer were bestmen. Peggy Meyer and Linda Wolhiser were bridemaids. Jane and Joan Sell were the flowers girls and Pat rick Robbins was the ring bear er, the latter three being cou sins of the bride. A reception followed the wedding at the home. Those attending were Messrs. and Mmes. Jeanne is a graduate of the Louisville High School and the Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing. Don is a graduate of U of Ne braska and is a senior at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. A fall wedding is planned. Former Residents Here For Weekend M-Sgt. Alec Bukosky, wife and daughter of Great Falls, Mont., were here for the weekend en joying visits with friends. The Bukoskys are former re sidents here. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Merle Diekmann were hosts at a party for the visitors. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Porter and family and Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Liddick and family. Florida Couple Vacation Here Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Sutton of Jacksonville, Fla., have been visiting here with her father, D. T. Haley. Mrs. Sutton is the former Opal Haley. Enroute here, the Florida couple stopped at Lookout Mountain in Tennessee and plan stopping at the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina on their return trip. Sunday the couple attended services at the Christian Church where they were married 25 years ago this August. They departed for their home today. Steak Fry Honors Mrs. Joel Breding A steak fry was held at the Solomon cabin by the Platte River Saturday evening honor ing Mrs. Joel Breding who is visiting here from California. Those attending, all class mates of the honoree, were Mrs. Gilbert Fornoff, Weeping Wat er; Mrs. Lyle Copmann and Mrs. John Schanbacher of Omaha; Mrs. Tom Doody of Dwight; Mrs. Kenneth Wondra, Mrs. Troy Cotner, Mrs. Virgil Stander, Mrs. Tom Solomon of Plattsmouth. After a delicious meal the ladies spent the evening in visit ing. Dorcas Circle Meets With Mrs. Piper Fifteen members of Dorcas Circle of the First Methodist Church met Thursday, July 17, at the home of Mrs. Floyd Piper, with Mrs. Herbert Frazier, Mrs. Harold Alkire, and Mrs. William Senf asisting hostesses. Mrs. Howard Wiles, chairman, opened the meeting with a poem on friendship, followed by a de votional lesson on stewardship by Mrs. Harry White. After a 'nisiness meeting and report from various committee chair men, Mrs. Robert Mann present a study lesson from "The King dom Beyond Caste." A game conducted by Mrs. Wi les was won by Mrs. W. L. Hein rich. After refreshments, a sil ent auction was held. The group adjourned to meet again August 21 at the home of Mrs. Percy Wheeler. Sew and Sews 4-H Club At Clincs' The Murdock Sew and Sews met at the home of Maryls Cline July 18. One of the members who went to 4-H camp showed what she made for handi-crafts at camp. Two of the eight mem bers attended the district camp at Seward. They were Sharilyn LindeH and Pamela Race. Mrs. Cline served lunch. TV and dancing followed. Mrs. Ogg Presides At Circle Meeting The members of the Oieaners Circle of the Methodist Church met in the Memorial Room of the church Thursday evening. The meeting was opened with a prayer by the president, Mrs. Karl Ogg. Devotions were given by Mrs. Fred Bishop and Mrs. Edgar Newton gave the lesson from the book "Facts and Fantasies a bout Race." Everyone enjoyed a short pro ram which was presented by four students of Miss Jeanine Newton. Roll call wa.s taken with 23 members present and one guest. Arrangements are being made to serve the wedding reception of Miss Sally Quinnette which will be Aug. 10. Following the business meet ing refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Edgar New ton, Mrs. Mary Nelson, Mrs. Howard Porter and Mrs. J. A. Capwell. Busy Homemakers Plan Activities The Busy Homemakers 4-H Club met at the home of Pat and Sandra Toman July 17. Pre sident Mary Hendrlx presided. We planned for our achieve ment which will be held Aug. 1 at the Mynard Community Hall. And plans were made to at tend demonstration day at Weeping Water July 21. Our group Is looking forward to participating in the County Fair in the various 4-H activi ties. Demonstrations for the day were given by Judy Cole, Menu Writing; Sharon Kiser, Plan ning Work Schedule; Pat To man, Setting in Sleeves, How to make fitted facings for neck lines. Marilyn Vinduska gave an in teresting report on camp she attended at Seward. In concluding the meeting meal planning schedules were judged. Young Coastguard Enjoying Sea Trip Henry A. Hughson, Jr., who recently enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard, is now enjoying a taste of life on the sea. He de parted from here to Mobile, Ala., from where he boarded ship for a sail along the islands with Haiti as the destination. Last year Hughson was at Cape May, N. J. and did not get much opportunity to see the world. The present voyage will cover three weeks and in December Henry will report for his regular service as coastguard. Enjoys 40 & 8 Meet At North Platte Dr. P. T. Heineman, state chef de gare passe, of the 40 & 8, was at North Platte the last of the week to attend the sessions held in connection with the American Legion state convention. The state 40 & 8 elected Loyd Behrends of this city as grand chef de trai of the societe. Earl Fischer of Ora-,ha, well known here, was named grand chef de gare for 1959. Pink r Blue Shower Held Here Sunday A pink and blue shower was held for Mrs. Frank Prohaska Sunday night at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Lloyd here. Refreshments were served after Mrs. Prohaska opened her gifts. Carnival Sets Up For 2-Day Run The Junior Chamber of Com merce sponsored Carnival which will be here Tuesday and Wed nesday was expected to get here and set up tonight, the Jaycees said today. It will be set up on 5th Street from Avenue A to Main and from Main to the alley south of Main. The Jaycees will use their share of proceeds for community projects. A Classified Ad in The Journal costs as little as 50 cents NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Death Of Former Resident At Home In California Word was received here Thurs day of the death of Mrs. Mar garet Boetel Yates, 75, a native of Plattsmouth who has been making her home on the west coast since 1921. Mrs. Yates died at Santa Ana, Calif., Wednesday where the family have resided for a number of years. The deceased will be remem bered by old friends as Margaret Boetel, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claus Boetel, pioneer residents of this city. She spent her girlhood in this community where she still has many old time friends who will regret to learn of her passing. She was married here to Bert Tulene, also long time a resid ent, they moving In 1921 to California where they have sin ce made their home. Her hus band preceded her in death several years ago. She was mar ried in later years to a Mr. Yates. There is surviving her death one son, Roy Tulene, of Fresno, Calif., a brother John Boetel and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Moore of this city. During her residence here Mrs. Yates was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, serving as the first Oracle of the local camp when It was organized in Plattsmouth. The death of Mrs. Yates leaves John Boetel of this city, 85, the last of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Boetel, living. Mr. Boetel resided with his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Moore. The funeral of Mrs. Yates is being held at Santa Ana. Rock Island Has Derailment At South Bend Bridge Sixteen cars on a Rock Island freight train jammed together in a mass of wreckage Friday just as the train was clearing the bridge at South Bend. The train, an exVa going east, was hauling small grain in all but a few of its 30 to 40 cars. The last of the train had not cleared the bridge when 1lie box and flat cars jammed to gether and pitched down both sides of the right-of-way. All but one of the piled up cars left the track within a few hundred yards of the bridge. The other went down the track about a half mile before jumping the reack. Cause of the accident was not immediately determined. No one was injured.
