OC YEARS ACO JyJ The first annual picnic of the var ious American Legion posts in Cass County was held at Louisville and was a great suc cess. It was held near the river east of the traffic bridge and a fine representation from all parts of the county was present. The ladies had prepared a load of good things to eat that made a success of the af fair. An attempt was made to raid the Plattsmouth bachelors lunch, but was re pulsed with heavy loss. The bachelors had a roast duck and only pie on the grounds as well as many liquid refreshments and drove off all attempts to secure the duck C. E. Ledgway, clerk of the district court decided to check the crops and accordingly spent a few days at the farm of his brother-in-law, William Kraeger, during his ab sence the duties of the office are carried on by the deputy Luther Hall, Jr., form er Unon resident, was seriously burned at Snohomish, Wash., while filling the gas tank of his truck. The gas had splashed on his clothing and face and was suddenly ignited. It was with difficulty that he es caped from serious if not fatal burns Mrs. John Stine, long time resident of Li berty precinct died at her home in Union. Made in Paris, Mademoiselle deceased, in the State of Ne braska. Mrs. Dan Rueter returned home from the hospital Tues At this writing she is feeling pretty good since the removal of an eye. Mrs. Clara Voitman of Jeff erson, Iowa, came Sunday to be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Rueter, awhile. Mrs. Coppel entertained her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Copple to dinner last Sun day. In the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Ackerson of Weeping Wa ter came for a visit. Mr. and Mes. Elmer Klyver entertained Mr. and Mrs. Eston Cope of Waverly Friday eve ning. Art Klyver of Lincoln call ed at the Elmer Klyver home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zoz and Michael attended the Aqua Air Show at Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. George Coat man of Elmwood called at the Martin Zoz home Friday night. Mrs. Grace Copple and son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Copple drive to Wahoo Sunday having a picnic dinner in the park. Mrs. Everett Morton was a guest. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwavne Gabowski, Crystal, was hit by a car Thurs day afternoon. She is at St. El izabeth hospital. She was in crit ical condition for a time but was better at this writing. She is the erandda ntrnter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Kellogg. Mrs. Mplvin Vosler and fam ily of Ashland spent Thursday with her narents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Kellogg. The Teen Age Sewing and Baking Center met June 25 at the home of Lvnn Root. A de monstration on "No-Knead" rolls was given bv Lvnn Root and Carolyn Vincent, Next meetin? will be with Carolyn Kay Ed wards July 9. The 4-H Oriolps met June 28 at the home of Arlan Neben. leader.
