The Harold Pingree's were Guests Sunday at the Eldon Pingree home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward spent the weekend in Marshalltown, Iowa, visiting- at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Monte Hayes and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wildriek and Agnes were dinner guests Sunday at the Leonard Stein home in Lincoln. Guests Thursday evening at a six o'clock dinner at the Joe Mart is home in Manley were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kreck low, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pear son and Mr. and Mrs. William Du'kmann. Guests Saturday at the home of Mrs. Tressa Kecklow in Man ley were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Di'auckmuller and Mrs. Hulda Davis all of Gardner, North Da kota. They left for their homes Monday after a two week visit with relatives and friends. Thursday guests at the Leon ard Vaughn home was Mrs. Gene 'Drake of Omaha. Dorothy Jean Massoth of Man ley spent last week vacationing with her grandmother in Gen eva. Barbara Bourelle is home from her studies at the University and has accepted a position m tsoys Town for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Switzer of Manley were overnight guests Saturday and Sunday at the Kenneth Luellen home in South B-iid. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stiffler and Dan and Mrs. Wayne Foster of Columbus are vacationing in New York this week with their daughter, Jennie Stiffler and also a sister of Mrs. Stiffler who lives there. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rueter of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Volgtman and Charles Volgtman of Jefferson, Iowa, drove back Sunday to visit relatives in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Robbins, Carol and Judy were Friday evening callers at the Larry Carnlcle home In South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beck and family of Kcnnard were visiting with friends and relatives in Louisville Sunday afternoon. They had been dinner guests in Weeping Water. Denise and Delores Fitzpat rick of Louisville spent the afternoon Monday with their sister, Mrs. Linvale Meyer and Lynn while their parents attend ed the funeral services for Le mual Lane in Weeping Water that afternoon. Mrs. Sylvia Kahnke and son, Milton Cole, of Stella have again returned to Camp Hard ing where Mrs. Kahnke has been cook lor the past several years. Mrs. Fritz is employed at the Harriet Harding Camp this sum mer. Her daughter is staying at the Edward Grell home near Springfield. Visitors Sunday at the Ernest Beck home were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Beck and family of Ken nard, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grell and sons of near Springfield and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beck and Johnnie. Sunday afternoon visitors at the Edward Grell home was Lois Sell of Weeping Water. Monday evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dictl and children of Murray. wscs The WSCS met June 5 for their regular meeting. Mrs. Gertrude Koop continued with the study "Christ, The Church and Race." The Rev. Donald Webster gave an ac count of the Methodist Church on Segregation. . He installed the newly elected officers with the assistance of Mrs. Webster. Hostesses were Muriel Webs ter and Gladys Hennings. Next meeting will be June 19 with Gertrude Ackles and Dorothy Davis, hostesses. American Lesion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxi liary met Thursday. Mrs. Lettie Stohlmann, as installing officer, installed new officers. Hostesses were Jean Webb, Sue ' Pankonin. Norma Nichols and ! Lil Huff. Among those attending the funeral of Mrs. Charles Fosberg were Mrs. Eric Waltemade and Mrs. Millard Sale of Geneva, Mrs. Amoret Casburn and daughters of Geneva and Mrs. Ray Brayden and sons of Crete, besides all the childlren and grandchildren. Mr. Fosberg, who lives at the IOOF Home in York, was unable to attend because of hi.s health. Mrs. A. C. Gerdes reported see ing a deer in her yard about 6:30 Tuesday morning. It had been in the Dick Meisinger yard just across the road from the Gerdes. The members of the Golden Circle Club held its annual pic nic at the City Park at noon Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stohl mann are looking forward to the arrival of their daughter and husband and children, Mr. and Mrs. William TLsdale and child ren of Washington, D. C, for a two week visit. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Vaughn attended the wedding of Lee Vaughn and Shirley Ann Hislop both of Omaha at the First Christian Church in Glenwood, Iowa, Tuesday. Mrs. Lester Fariss and daugh ter Connie of Broken Bow visit ed over the week end at the home of Mrs. E. H. Worthman and Mrs. Stevenson. A picnic and skating party was held in Ashland Sunday evening honoring the 14th birthday of Lorna Breyer. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Meyer are the parents of boy born at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, June 9. He has been named Ronald Paul and weighed 5 pounds and 15 ounces. Mrs. Meyer was form erly Katherine Nessen. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Meyer of Wabash and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nessen of Louis ville. Great grandmother is Mrs. Christine Nessen also of Louis ville. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Berner and daughters were weekend guests r.t the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lhihardt in Powers viile. Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Beck and daughters of South Bond were Wednesday evening supper guests at the Ernest Beck home. Lloyd Reeson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Reeson, left last week for Camp Carson, Colo., to take his training in the armed froces. Rodney Helm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Heim, who gra duated from Peru State Teach ers College last week, has Joined the National Guard Reserve and will leave soon for Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for six months train ing. He plans a career of teach ing science and mathematics when he returns from service. Tuesday afternoon caller at the Richard Berner home was Mrs. Alma Berner of Weeping Water. Tuesday evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stuken holtz and daughter of Nebraska City. Wednesday evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter En gelkemeier of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Leroy and Judy of Manley were Sun day afternoon callers at the How ard Dobbs home. Philip Hennings entered Meth odist Hospital in Omaha Tuesday for observation and check-up. Gene Dunn entered the Meth odist Hospital Monday evening for observation and checkup. Tuesday evening callers at the Edward Grell home near Spring field were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schumann and son of Spring field. Wednesday evening caller was Calvin Grell also of Spring field. Mrs. Dick Wildriek and Connie of Omaha were guests Thursday at the Ralph and Frank Wild rick's homes. Mrs. Sue Pankonin and Mrs. Irene Johnson attended the exe cutive board meeting of the Cass County Women's Club in Platts mouth, at the home of Mrs. Louis Amato. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Isaac at tendee? commencement execrises at the University of Nebraska. Dwight Redfield, their son-in-law, was graduated from the college of Pharmacy. He has accepted a position in Hastings and the family will move to Has tings this week. Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Will iam Elseman entertained a group of laides at coffee for Mrs. Darrell Brandenburg. The Bran denburgs left Thursday for a couple of months in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Mathilda Jochim left Fri day for Tacoma, Wash., to attend the funeral of her son-in-law, Jack Tavenner, which was held Monday. Mr. Tavenner had been ill for a long time. Mrs. Tavenner was formerly Melinda Jochim. Her brothers, John and Lee and his wife left by plane Sunday and returned home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Isaac re turned last week from a two weeks vacation in Florida. Supper guests Sunday at the Fred Fleischmann home in Man ley were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gade of Ashland. Mrs. Lillian Baker of Reno, Nev., is visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. She spent Friday and Saturday In Omaha at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bake and family. Mona Buskirk. Mrs. Jane Steinkamo and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fleischmann all of Man ley and Miss Daisy Schlater of Louisville attended the funeral services of Lemual Lane in Weeping Water. Hospital News Mrs. Jay Larson who had just recently returned home from the Methodist Hospital in Omaha was taken seriously ill Sunday evening and returned to the hos pital. Mrs. Jim McClun who has been in the Lutheran Hospital in Om aha is now recuperating at the home of her Barents in Papillion but is expected home in a few days. Jim Rogers was taken to the Methodist Hospital Friday night for treatment. i Glen Miller, who underwent surgery last week at the Me thodist Hospital, Is coming a lcng fine and came home Tues day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Isaac and sons. Terry Meyer, Larry Er hart, Raymond Sluyter and Seve Murphy attended the kids rodeo in Springfield Sunday. Mrs. Duane Ault and children of Denver, are house guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Norman McKer lie of Cedar Creek are parents of a daughter born June 5 at St. Mary's Hospital Nebraska City. Mrs. McKerlie is the for mer Beth Krieder of Louisville. Mrs. Laura Krieder of Louis ville is the maternal grandmoth er. The McKerlies also have a son. Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Poulsen of Bureau, 111., who were here for the graduation of their gran daughter, Judith Herbic, return ed to their home. They were accompanied by their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Barrows and grandson of Mrs. Betty Barrows of Murray, is one of two young sters, sons of Rohr employes, to win a full five year scholarship to a college of his choice in the second annual Rhor Scholarship competition acording to J. E. Rheim, president of Rohr Air craft Corporation. Barrows father, Charles V. Barrows, has been with Rohr's Riverside plant since 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Radtke and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hostet ter spent the weekend fishing at Fort Randall Dam near Picks town, South Dakota.
