II finley of Elm wood and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Christensen were din ner guess on Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mil ler Christensen in honor of the birthday of Mr. Christensen. A party was held Tuesday eve ning after senior night for the Seniors and their dates and the faculty members. Mrs. John Kr ogh was in charge. The Opportunity Extension Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. A. Michel sen, Sr., with Mrs. Ralph Keck ler as co-hostess. Mrs. Ross Rai nes of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Hazel Deering of Phoe nix, Ariz., were guests. The group voted to give a do nation to the Multiple Sclerosis Fund. Mrs. J. M. Ranney and Mrs. Henry Knaup presented the lesson on "Safe or Sorry". A piano solo was played by Ger aldine Michelsen. The next meet ing will be June 8 at the home of Mrs. Alma Berner. The No Name Club met at the home of Mrs. H. W. Chris tensen. Guests were Mrs. Arthur Schmidt and Mrs. Vernon Duwe. Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Roll call was an swered bv the members telling a favorite quick bread. They dis cussed how to plan and bake. Marilyn gave a demonstration on how to measure flour, brown su gar and liquids. Mr. and Mrs. Linville Prall. Gallup, N. Mex., are visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Prall. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Vincent of Los Angeles, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reh meier. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wise man received word that their daughter - in - law, Mrs. James Wiseman, of Ramstein, Germ any underwent surgery on her throat the past week. Mrs. Wise man is a daughter of Tony Sud duth and Mrs. William Reibold of Omaha. The Christian, Methodist, Uni ted Misionary and Congregation al are again holding a coopera tive Bible School this year. Bible School started May 2G and will continue through June 6. Iowa, recently and took his private pilot flight test. r Richard Harter He passed the test "with fly ing colors," according to Buzz Brown, manager of Frown's Air port at Weeping Water, and be came the first person from Weep ing Water and vicinity to receive a private pilot's license before graduating from high school. Richard graduated May 22. will be no sessions held on Mem orial Day. May 30th. The Kindergarten department which includes 4 and 5 year olds will meet in the basement of the Methodist Church; Prim ary grades (1-2-3) at the Con gregational Church basement Junior Department (Grades 4-5) at the Christian Church: Junior High department (grades 6-7-8) Congregational Church upstairs. Expenses for the school will be pro-rated among the four churches. An offering will be tak en each day to go to the pro ject which will be decided by the teachers and leaders. An op en house and program will be held at the Congregational Ch urch June 6 at 8 p. m. The program will feature some of the accomplishments of the ch urch school. M-Sgt. and Mrs. W. L. Reck ard of Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. Tex., visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Recard. Mr. and Mrs. Recard and their five daughters were injured when their car ov erturned twice on a Kansas high way enroute to Wichita, Kans., to visit Mrs. Reckard's parents. They were hospitalized at a hospital in Wellington, Kan. All of the family were injured with back injuries and multiple cuts and bruises. At this writing Marilyn and Sharon are still hospitalized and the 6 month old baby had both arms fractured. j A picnic honoring Mr. and! Mrs. Glenn Carneal of Union has just returned from a five day vacation to Denver, Colo., where she visited her uncle, Will Warga. Mr. Warga and grand son, Donald Blunt, showed her many places of interest in the City. Mrs. Carneal traveled by Union Pacific. Mrs. Mary Hixon and the Ed ward Hixon family, all of Sioux City, la., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Sweem Sunday. Mrs. Sweem is confined to bed, re cuperating from a stroke she suffered three weeks ago. Mrs. John Hutchinson of Osh kosh accompanied her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lin ville Prall to Weeping Water. They were all dinner guests on Friday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Prall. Mrs. Hutchin son teaches school at Oshkosh and will resume her teaching du ties in September. Mrs. Adam Cook spent Satur day with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cook and family. They moved to Ben son Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Mar vin Pilfold. Jody and Debbie will move into the Cook home. Mrs. Sigvald Jensen has been making an extensive study of birds and has now been able to identify 100 different species of birds in the vicinity of Weeping Water. Hughson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guv Hughson. has completed his eight weeks of basic training for the Army at Ft. Carson, Colorado. During that time, Robert saw plenty of snow and dry cold wea ther. He was home on a 15-day fur lough April 16-30 and reported at his new base at Fort Bliss. Tex as, May 2. A recent letter states Robert is settled and working in Ord nance. Former Resident Defendant In Suit For 575,400 John H. Becker, of Omaha. former Plattsmouth resident, defendant in a damage suit for $75,400 in federal district court at Omaha, as the result of a boating accident on August 19, 1957 on West Lake Okoboji, la., in which" C. K. Murray, 58 of Kverly, In., was killed. Mr. Becker's power boat col lided with Mr. Murray's 16-foot fishing boat and Mr. Murray died of injuries suffered in the accident. A coroner's jury held on the Murray death, held there was no criminal neglect on the part of Mr. Becker. C. E. Shcllcnbarger Flics To California Wednesday morning C. E. Mr. and Mrs. Logan Covrrt and Mrs. Leroy Covert were at. is i Hiawatha. Kan., Tuesday at tending the last rites for Mrs. I.ela Wright, 74, sister of Logan and Leroy Covert. Mrs. Wright. 71, has been ill for several mon ths. Services were held at the Me thodist church conducted by Rev. Wells and burial was at the rural cemetery near Hiawa tha. Mrs. Wright is survived by two fons, Dale of Kansas City, Mo., and Clarence of Durango, Colo., two brothers, Logan and Leroy Covert of Plattsmouth.
