The airmen won on a 9th in ninu 3-run homer off Rt. Ed Itlair after Flattsmouth had ral lied for the 41 h time to take an 11-10 lead in the 8th. Rich Wohifarth stroked a 3 niii homer for Plattsmouth in the eighth, his second round tripper of the pome but two walks and the counter-homer .spoiled it in the home 9th. Walks proved costly through out t ho game for Plattsmouth. John Schuet, who went the first 8 innings was constantly in trouble, lie issued 8 walks. Wohifarth hit, his first home run with one on in the 2-run Mil. That tied it at, 5-5. Platts inouth had scored three in the 4th on 2 walks and singles by Dietrich and Doug Reno. Lincoln got 5 in the 3rd on 3 walks, a single and home run. Next for Plattsmouth is a meeting here next Sunday with Gretna. Plattsmuth and Gret na are both 1-3 now. In the league games Sunday: Gretna 18. Ralston 0; Elkhorn Francis M. Casey Proves A Real Deep Sea Fisher Attorney Francis M. Casey has return, 'd home lrom Palm Beach Flu., where he spent a few days enjoying the thrill of deep sea li:,lni:g. Francis not only hit the jackpot but brought back the evi dence. In company with two friends, Major Wakefield of Offutt Field and Harold Payne, prominent Omaha realtor, flew down to a Florida resort to try their skill in deep sea fishing. On Tuesday they were out and ai part of the haul, a 54 pound sailfish, was landed by the local attorney along with a number of barracuda and smaller sea fish. The big fish made a great battle but was finally safely brought a board. Truck Jumps Curb I rite Louisville Yard LOUISVILLE (Special) A large semi-trailer lowboy truck went in to the yard of Mrs. Min nie Knutson at the cornier of 5th and Main. The truck was driven bv William Booker of Lin coln for the Stewart Construc tion Co.. also of. Lincoln and was carrying a large caterpillar tra tor to the highway job on High way 63 east of Louisville. The caterpillar was dumped in the yard right up against the front porch. Mr. Booker said he was driving slow but that his brakes did not hold and he was unable to make the turn. A small car also from Lin coln was sideswiped and for ced to go over the curb and down into the Krutson yard. The driver was able to drive out the back of the lot without any serious damage. IWurdook Athlete Letters Myron Oehlerking of Murdock, student at Westmar College, Le Mars, Iowa, has been lettered for his baseball service on the college team. It doesn't work out in arith metic, but if A builds its navy up to the strength of B's, B must immediately build six or eight ships to bring it up to A 's. Detroit News. C. Todd Phone 2441 Tom Wolfe who is stationed in Colorado, arived in Union, early Friday morning to spend a few weeks with his home folks and friends before being trans ferred to another state. Mrs. Vern Elfstrom of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. William Buckanan of Te cumseh were dinner guests last Wednesday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrah, Sr. The War Dads held ther meet ing at the Legion Hall last Tues day. Mrs. Zitterick and son Randy were guests. Reports were given by Mrs. Ivan Balfour and Mrs. Violet Attebery. Members are complet ing the sewing project of Veter ans Hospital in Omaha. A box of Father's Day Cards and postage was sent to the Vet erans Hospital. Mrs. Violet At tebery, Mrs. Mary Gobelman and Mrs. Robert Harrah, Sr. were ap pointed as chairman of Mem orial Services to be put on at the State War Dad's Convention at Fremont, Aug. 8, 9, 10. Union School closed last Wed nesday with a fine picnic din ner in the school yard with a large crowd and a fine dinner. The three teachers, Mrs. Mehl hopp, Mrs. Damke and Miss Fife are all returning in the fall. The Woman's Society of Christ ian Service met last Thursday. Mrs. Wr. C. Meyers of Omaha was a guest. The theme of the program les son was the March cf Mission Dollars. A dialogue was given by Mrs. Sanford, Mrs. Harrah and Mrs. Patterson. Solo numbers were given by Mrs. Verl Ackley and Mrs. L. B'. Mougey. Little Karen Ackley passed out the Pledge Cards to be signed. Mrs. CI to Ehlers presented a Life Membership pin to Mrs. Lee Faris and Mrs. Stine pinned a corsage for mi:sions on Mrs. W. C. Meyers who later installed the new officers for the coming year. Mrs. Stine presented the gavel to Mrs. Ehlers the new president who dismissed the the meeting with the benedic tion. Mr. Linder is quite a follower of the tennis game, and thought the men, at least one, looked familiar. Conversation developed the fact that they were Lewis Hoad and John Kramer, both of whom have been in national and international tennis cotnpetitian. tion. Norman Meints, Wednesday graduate of Plattsmouth High School, has taken a position as bookkeeper and clerk at Platts mouth Lumber Co. He replaces Richard Holm quist who has been transferred to the Chicago Lumber Co., at Fairfield. He will be manager of the lumber and hardware de partments. Holmquist was here 13 months, coming to Plattsmouth from Wassau. Mrs. Holmquist and two boys will join him at Fair field when he finds quarters for them.
