Inez Jardine of Lincoln Is sp ending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jardine. Mrs. John Johnson sponsored her home economic Alvo high school girls to "Hospitality Day" at the agricultural college Tues day. Mrs. Johnson's daughter, Carolyn, also sponsored a group of her home economic girls from Diller the same day. Last Friday evening Judy Lea-1 dabrand was a guest at the Or chid Formal" given by Jerry Leadabrand's fraternity Acacia and this Friday Jerry was a guest at "White Violet Formal" given by Judy's sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Judy Leadabrand honored her mother, Mrs. Ruth Leadabrand on her birthday, Saturday by taking her to the University Pla yers production "The Lark." Patty Wall returned home from the hospital Tuesday. Bob Tinnean has left the hos pital and returned to his farm home near Oreenwood. He is getting along alright. Eveland home Sun day afternoon to visit their nei ghbor, Mrs. Linda Gustin. Mrs. Gustin still suffers much pain in her arm and shoulder, the affects of shingles which she had about 9 months ago. Word comes from Blue Ridge, Summett Pa., where Dr. Tot man is stationed now that Mrs. Naomi Totman has suffered a stroke. Details are not known at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Seiker and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Seiker drove to Ashland Sunday to help Mr. and Mrs. Harve Mere dith observe their 46th wedding anniversary. The WSCS will hold their meeting a week earlier, on May, 2nd and will present honorary memorial pins, will hold a mem orial service, also there will be Installation of officers. On April, 29th in the Fellow ship room of the Meth church there will be a special lunch eon at 12:30. Mrs. Larson, the District Secty will be present the opening of the Treasurer Chests, Music, Mrs. Horton will review "Jesus' Last Days" also a $64,- 000 quiz. It is reported that Mrs. Bertha Ostertag fell during the night and could not get up so by morn ing was chilled and threatened with pneumonia. She is in the Ebeler Home until she recovers. The Bluebird extension club met Tues., April, 22nd with Mrs. Paul Bornemeier. Pres. Mrs. G. R. Eveland presided. Mrs. Hol lenbaeck led in the flag salute. Mrs. Horton led In songs "In the evening by the Moonlight" and "Lil Liza Jane." April 29th is Achievement day at Weeping Water. Mrs. E. Cook gave the lesson on "History of Nebraska," Ersy McNurlin were Mrs. Avis Hand and son of Lincoln and additional dinner guest was Mrs. Harold Pilfold. Wednesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles were Mr. Kyle's sister, Mrs. Clyde Perin of Al liance and Mrs. Mary Kyles and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Johnson and baby of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles spent Sunday afternoon at the Wayne Kinney home at Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Carpenter spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Sayles Thomsen of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meisinger and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Leesley visited with relatives at Platts mouth Sunday. Dorcas Society met Friday at the Christian Church with Mrs. George Rouse as hostess. Twin Tables Pinochle Club met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Sayles Thomsen of Lincoln. Mrs. Henry Kirk and Mrs. Harvey Schroder were substitute guests. The Happy Homemakers Ex tension Club met April 16 at the home of Mrs Milford Han sen with Mrs. Charlie Bell as sisting. Fourteen members were present. It was voted to spon sor the Cancer Drive in this community and Mrs. Albert Beis ner was appointed chairman of the drive. The lesson on "Furni ture Arrangement" was given By Mrs. Elmer Leadabrand and Mrs. Harmon Miller. The May meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Wayne Howard. The G. O. C. was on duty all day April 19. Those reporting for duty were Larry Rouse Mike Carpenter, David Tennant, Lar ry Voehl, Robert Boiler and O. L. Sandy. Orville Sandy spent Sunday at the Raymond Nelson home at Ashland. Obituary: Wilma Frances Stege, daughter of Otto and Lucy Stet;e, was born Sept., 24th 1912 near Elmwood, Hibr. and passed away at her home April 11th, 1958 at the age of 45 years, 6 mo. and 17 days. She was uni ted in marriage to LaVern Nic kel on Feb. 14th, 1934. To this union was born one son, Char les. She spent her life in the Elmwood community. She gra duated from Elmwood High School, was a member of the Methodist church, the Rebekah Lodge and was active in many other community affairs. Sur viving are her husband LaVern and ;-on, Charles, of Elmwood, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Stege Elmwood, two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hudnall of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Opal Oberle of Eagle, Nebr.; neicei, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Elmwood Methodist church, Sunday April 13th, 1958, 2:30 p.m., Dr. Bert L. Story of ficiating. Pall bearers were: Raymond Bornemeier Jess Brak hage, Morris Mendenhall, Ches ter Bornemier, Vernon Borne meier, and Harry Krall. Duets were sung by Mrs. Helen Sch neider and Mrs. V. G. elements accompanied by Mrs. Dwight Clements at the organ. Burial was in the Elmwood cemetery.
