Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Baker and childre n and Vesta Baker ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Don Urwin of Louisville to Lincoln on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Vesta Baker remained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taylor so that she could visit her mother, Mrs. Hattie Taylor, at Bryan Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Taylor was taken to the hos pital a week ago and is getting along fairly well. The Lewis Bakerj and Mr. and Mrs. Urwin vifiled Mildred Sturdevant in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holschcr of Cook were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Free man and family. They went to Omaha in the afternoon to at tend the capping ceremonies of Verna Jean Holschcr at the Uni versity of Nebraska College of Medicine. Mr. and Mrs. David Baxter and boys were Sunday even ing guests at a wiener roast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har old Zierott and family of Mur dock in honor of the fifth bir thday of Chuckle Zierott. The American Legion Auxi liary met for their April meet ing in the Legion Hall. Plans were discussed for Poppy Day which will bo held May 3 in Weeping Water. Mrs. Richard Bickford was appr.nted chair man of this committee. Mrs. John Sterner and Mrs. Lawrence Wiseman took the members to the Cafe for refreshments. Ricky Bond of Louisville was a Sunday dinner and afternoon Baxter while their mothers at tended a shower for Colene Det tman In the Christian Church parlors. Louis Noble, William Lee, Cloyd Boydston, Mrs. Lynn Rot he and Mrs. Edward Van Horn each took a carload of young people to Elmwood Saturday evening where they spent the evening roller skating. The Triple T. Dairy Club and the Poultry Cluub held a meet ing Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Lorensen, Richard and Mar garet. Fifteen attended the meetings. Malcolm Pollard is the leader of the Triple T Dairy Club while Mrs. Pollard is the Mark Hohman was a guest. The next meeting will be on May 9 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hohman. Mr. Ralph Keckler and Mrs. Lawrence Wiseman atended fun eral services in Omaha Friday afternoon for Mrs. Gertrude Wood, mother of Mrs. Dorothy Smith. Burial was at the ceme tery in Yutan. Sunday, evening lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Loren sen and family were Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Lorensen and family of Humboldt, Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Hauschild of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lorensen and Hubert, John and Karen Cap pen. The DAR met on Friday after noon at the home of Mrs. B. E. Olive with one extra guest, Mrs. Henry Knaup. Esther Tefft pre sented the program for the a fternoon. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lois Tefft May 16. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wise man enjoyed their dinner in Lincoln Sunday and later call ed on their aunt, Mrs. Pearl Andrus. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Burgen of Lincoln were Sunday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Burgen. Mrs. Clayton Cooper held a surprise birthday party on Fri day evening for her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mei singer and family were Sunday dinner and lunch guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Meisinger and family of Plattsmouth. Mrs. Ross Kinton entertained her pinochle club on Thursday afternoon with two tables. Mrs. Ethel Hermann won the high score prize; Mrs. R. O. Baker the low score prize and Mrs. Vern Harter the traveling prize. The ladies will meet May 1 with Mrs. Carl Rector. Several of the men in the Weeping Water vicinity are cleaning up around the two lakes and are making it a place of beauty for sigthseers and those wishing to hold a picnic there. Gary McDonald and Sharon Stock were Friday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller of Lincoln. Sharon spent Fri day night Saturday with the Millers and Gary came up Sat urday evening and was a supper guest. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Rothe and boys attended a dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kuhns and family of Lewis, Iowa in honor of the April birthdays in their family, They were evening lunch guests of Mrs. Harry Evans of Gris wald, Iowa and also visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Evans and family In the evening. The girls of the F.H.A. Chap ter held a pot luck supper in the homemaking room of the1 Weping Water school with the girls of the eighth grade and the escorts of the girls as gu ests. Following the supper they went to the roller skating rink in Nebraska City for an evening of skating. Mrs. John Wegener and Mrs. Albert Kraft drove to Elmwood to attend the funeral of an aunt Friday afternoon and also called on Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stohlman at the Fredrick Stohlman home. Fredrick Stohlman suffered burned hands and one leg was burned when his pants leg cau ght fire while he was burning stalks. He had some oil or trac tor fuel on his clothes. He was not seriously burned. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Wilson and family, John Cordes, both of Om aha and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cordes and daughters were din ner guests at the Fred Cordes home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Albert, Ray and Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Har old Striker of Omaha were din ner guests at the Ray Parcell home in Elmwood Sunday of last week to celebrate Harold Strik er and Kay Albert's birthdays.
