Sunday evening visitors were Mr and Mrs. Bernard Dill and Frank McConnell of Central City. Mrs. Glen Kuhn visited her father, L. R. Ward at the Uni versity Hospital in Omaha sev eral days last week, lie is re covering nicely from a recent operation and expects to be home next week. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dill and Joan of Lincoln spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dill. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Car nicle and Wayne of Lincoln spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Carnicle. Mrs. Bill Rosencrans spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. nad Mrs. B. E. Grady at Green wood. That afternoon, they visit ed Colleen Grady at Bryan hos pital who had a tonsilectomy on Friday. Larry Carnicle Jr., is having the measles and unable to at tend Ashland High School where he is a senior. Mrs. Bernard Dill and Janice and Mrs. Oscar Dill attended the music recital given by the stu dents of Mrs. John Loder at the Methodist Church at Waverly Sunday afternoon. Miss Janice Dill played an organ number, "Evening Prayer". Dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Ella Carson were Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Hegwood of Omaha. j Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peterson of i Gretna spent Thursday with Mr. I and Mrs J. L. Carnicle. The Petersons have just recently re turned from several weeks stay at Hot Springs, Ark. Mrs. Clyde Haswell of Mudock was an aft ernoon visitor. I Eddie Kearns and Carl Hof I melster of Sedalia Mo., came i Tuesday and visited at the home 1 of Mr. and Mrs. James Wisz- mann and family until Thurs day. The Kearns family are be ing transferred to an army base in California next month. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carnicle Jimmy and Mary Lou visited the Raymond Carnicles Friday eve ning. Mary Lou returned back to school Tuesday after having the measles. ...v......,..v.. SOUTH ASHLAND Mrs. Ivan Armstrong The Junior Falrlanders Exten sion club will meet Tuesday with Mrs. Gerald Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Jamison of Elsie are parents of a son born April 4 at St. Elizabeth hos pital in Lincoln. The baby has been named Rory Dale. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces. He has an older brother. Ray. Mrs. Jamison is the former Mary Lou Bower, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bower. Bert Rager entered Bryan Memorial hospital Wednesday and underwent surgery Satur day. Mrs. Rager visits him often. Gene Grimm returned home from Chicago Thursday. He had been there in school. Mrs. Gr imm met him at the Omaha air port. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bachman went to Baldwin. Kan., for the weekend and visited Mrs. Bach man's sister, Mrs. R. V. Critch HAPPY BLl'E BIRDS The Happy Blue Birds met on March 14 at the home of the lead er, Mrs. Kenneth Swabby. We visited the Journal office to learn how our newspaper is made. The Happy Blue Birds met on March 27 at the home of the leader. We had election of new officers. Those elected were Nan cy Smalley, president; Janet E raas, vice president;- Rosilyn Taylor, secretary; Linda Ditte more, treasurer. After the Lord's Prayer Blue Bird Wish and flag pledge we dyed eggs for Easter. Refresh ments were served by Mrs. Swabby and Diane. The Happy Blue Birds met on April 10. They visited re latives there, expect to leave Monday for Oregon to visit their youngest son, Guy, who is sta tioned there In the Coast Guard before leaving for trie Philip pines. Mrs. Elmer Johnson accomp anied Mrs. Laurence Boardman to Sioux City Friday afternoon. They visited at the Bernard Johnson home returning Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilson and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ramge and family were Sunday visitors at the Fred Cor des home. Mrs. Orville Cordeg and girls were afternoon call ers. Mr. ana Mrs. Ira Clinken beard of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Clinkenbeard and family spent Sunday at the Ar thur Dorby home. Mr. nd Mrs. Arthur Derby are remodeling the house on tlve farm, they bought of Harold Hlavac. Mrs. John Ritter, Mrs. Jim Ingram and Mrs. Tom Tennant drove to Des Moines early Sat urday. Mrs. Ingram and Mrs. Ritter visited at the Dwight Mac Cormack home. Mrs. Tennant visited at the Merel Epp and B. Wingrove and Alison Wal dron homes and returned home late Sunday. Mrs. M. K. Schroeder, Carol and Ronald of Syracuse called Sunday at the Tom Tennant ho me. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wendt vi stfed Mr. Wendt's sister, Mrs. Eldon Ragoss at the hospital, also visited Ralph Uhlie on Sat urday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Minor mo ved to the home they bought a half mile north of Ashland last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ander son rented the Minors Louisville home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Williams visited Saturday evening at the Jim Raymond home north of O maha to visit Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Cox of the Philippines who left Monday to visit their son, who is in the Coast Guard in Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Tennant visited last week at the Carl Lan. ge home in Omaha returned home Thursday evening. Mrs. Clarence Peterson ac. companied Mr. and Mrs. Henry Synak of Lincoln to Jamestown, Kan., Saturday to visit Mrs. Peterson's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Vering. Vering was in a hospital there and underwent surgery recently. The group returned home Satur day night. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nel son were Easter Sunday guests of their daughter Mrs. Joe Llg- git, husband and daughters in Crete. The groom is Mrs. Rau's and Mrs. Farmer's cousin. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Armstrong accompanied a group from the Ashland Christian Church to the Child Saving Institute in Omaha Wednesday afternoon. They took grocery supplies that had been gathered by the Sunday school, also a box of clothing the church ladies had made. While there, they were conducted through the building. In the group were Rev. and Mrs. B. F. Parnell, Mrs. Walter Farmer, Mrs. Carl Erickson, Mrs. Don Ziegenbein, Mrs. Chester Vosler, Mrs. Jos- ie Atwood and the Armstrongs. Mrs. Ziegenbein and Armstrong drove. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cornel ius and daughters of Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Sorenson and family of Kansas City were called here by the sudden pass ing of Mrs. Cornelius's and Mrs, Sorenson's mother, Mrs. Ralph Dean at her home In Ashland bit Friday. The families spent a part of the time with another sister, Mrs. Lyle Bailey. Mrs. Dean was a sister of Mrs. Geroge Born man and Roy Keller and was well known In South Ashland. Mrs. Glen Fosnot and Mrs. Manfred Keiler of Lincoln were Wednesday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards. The Fos not family were Easter Sunday and Monday guests a tthe Rich ards home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wells spent Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Arley Barger. Dewey Moore and Herman Roeber had dinner Sunday at the George Schmader home in Weeping Water. An Easter sup per was served at the Schmad er home. Guests were the Moore family, Mrs. John Schreve, Lin coln and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sch mader and Kerby of Weeping Water. Carol Swarts. a student at O maha Medical College and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Swarts, Scotts Bluff spent their Easter vaca tion with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts. Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Buell and Ray were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mc Bride and Gary of Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Roeber and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leon ard Roeber and sons and Herman Gakemeier were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Roeber Easter Sunday. The day was al so the elder Roeber's birthday. Special cakes for the occasion were baked bv Mrs. Kenneth Roeber and Mrs. Leonard Roe ber. Kathy Bornman spent from Wednesday until Saturday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bornman. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Bornman, came for her Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. George Bornman Jr., Den nis and Bruce of Lincoln were also Saturday visitors here.
