Tacnzlcr John Heer, 79, long time resi dent of western Iowa, father of Mrs. J. W. Taenzler, of this city died last week at his home in Council .Bluffs. He was a native of Germany and came to the United States when twenty-one years old, lo cating in the west. He has spent a greater part of his lifetime In the vicinity of Glenwood and Council Bluffs. The wife preceded him in death twenty-nine years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Taenzler and Mrs. Margar et Caldwell of Glenwood. Funeral services were held on Friday at Mineola, la., with bur ial at the Lutheran church cem etery. Rev. and Mrs. Taenzler, Bob and Betty, of this city at tended the funeral servir-c-s. Burrcll Evans, Former Teacher Here Dies Monday Burrell Evans, 65, formerly a teacher in the Plattsmouth city schools, died Monday at his home, 3007 Webster street Oma ha. He Ls survived by his wife, Beulah, Omaha; two daughters, Josephine, Herndon,j Va.; Beryl, Bonn, Germany; sister Anna Mae Smith San Francisco. Mr. Evans was a resident of Plattsmouth in the early forties, serving as a member of the fa culty of the local schools, teach ing in the grades and also as sisting in the coaching work of the high school. He was also Instrumental in organizing a band in the lower grades. After leaving here Mr. Evans was a teacher in the Bellevue high school until his retirement. Death Comes To Glen Rawls At Bedford, Virginia Word was received here Tues day by Mrs. J. W. Holmes of the death of Robert Glen Rawls, 67, a nephew of the late J. W. Holmes and a former resident of Plattsmouth. Glen, who has been making his home for the past few years at the Elks National Home at Bedford, Va., passed away Sat urday. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Bedford and the interment at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. He was born at Ong, Nebr., but was brought here when a small child and made his home in Murray and Plattsmouth for the greater part of his younger years. He was engaged here for a number of years with the C. E. Wescott's Sons at their clothing store, later moving to the west where he lived at Butte. Mont., for several years and later at Seattle, Wash. He was in the armed service in world war I and was a mem ber of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge at the time of his death. He ls survived by two chil dren, Mrs. Beatrice Comerford of Orinda. Calif., and a son, Carlos Rawls, a member of the armed service. - Preceding him in death are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rawl3 and two brothers. The news of his passing will bring a great regret to the old friends who had the pleasure of knowing him in the years of his residence here. Cass County's Greatest Newspaper The Plattsmouth Journal Mrs. Ruth Koukal Dies In Illinois Funeral Here Mrs. Ruth Koukal, 64, former resident of this city, died Tues day at 10:30 p.m. at LaGrange, IH., rf cerebral hemmorhage. She was born December 16, 1893 at Western, Nebr., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Heat-herington. The greater part of her life time was spent in Plattsmouth where she spent her childhood and the greater part of her young womanhood. She was married - ir Platts mouth to John Koukal, Tr., who preceded hef in death in 1929 at Plattsmouth. Survivors are: daughter, Mrs. Warren Wheeler and three grandchildren, LaGrange, 111, sister, Mrs. E. L. Creamer, Oma ha; brother, Francis Hathe ring ton, Omaha;; half-sister Mrs. M. W. Forney, Roundtop, Texas. Mrs. Koukal was engaged as operator for the Lincoln tele phone company from .1913 to 1918, retiring for several years, following the death of the hus band returned to the post ser ving from 1929 to her retire ment from service in 1947. She was an active figure in the St. John's Catholic church here during the years of her re Science. The body will be brought here for burial and will' be at the Culawell-Linder funeral home. Rosary will be held at the chapel of the funeral home Friday eve ning at 8:30. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 at St. John's church. Rt. Rev. Joseph Przudzik will celebrate requiem high mass. The interment will be at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. , Casket bearers will be old friends, Ed ward Fitzgerald.
