A letter was read from North Platte Auxiliary inviting all to attend a March 11 meeting when Grand Madam President Eliz abeth Uaum will be present. Balloting was held for appli cants Helen Smock. Ann Spang ler, Georgia Gardner, Anna Ca vender, .Shirley Newburn, Clara Price, Lela Habel and Fern Sparger. They will be initiated at the district meeting. A motion was made we have a "spaghetti supper and card party" March 15, proceeds to go to Muscular Dystrophy. Eva Newburn was the winner of the door prize. The meeting was then adjour ned to meet again March 6. Wiles Couple Enjoys Short Trip Monday Mr. and Mrs. 0. L. Wiles took advantage of the bal my "weather and drove to Fair fax," Mo., for a few hours visit at the home of Mrs. C. A. Finch, a sister of Mr. Wiles. At the Finch home they visit ed with Miss Helen Finch, a nie ce, and later in the day Grace Finch returned from her school in Fairfax to visit a short time also. Mr. and Mrs. Wiles returned home late that evening after a most enjoyable trip. Heinemans Are Dinner Hosts Dr. and Mrs. P. T. Heineman were hosts Sunday at the Platts mouth Hotel Coffee Shop honor ing a friend, Mrs. II. M. Smith, Omaha, on her birthday. Guests were the honoree and her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. fand Mrs. John Lichty, Oma ha, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Knorr and children. President Mrs. Harvey Gamer opened the meeting according to ritual. Chaplain Mrs. Kather ine Sandin gave the opening pr ayer. Miss Margaret Kroese intro duced her guest, Mrs. Dale Glea son. Correspondence was read from the National President urging every member to purchase a $10 bond to finish paying for the new National Sorority House in Kansas City. Mo. Mrs. Katherine Sandin who is serving on the state budget com mittee presented the new state budget and the members voted to send approval of the budget to the state president. Margaret Kroese invited the members to her home for the March meeting, initiation of the pledges for the year will be held at the March meeting. Members also decided to invite State Pres ident Mragaret Krause to the May meeting to install the of ficers for the next year. Following the meeting, lunch was served bv the hostess. Eagles Auxiliary Holds District Meeting Here Plattsmouth Auxiliary No. 365 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles held a district meeting Feb. 23 at the VFW Hall. The meeting was called to or der by President Marjorie Wil lis. Opening ceremony was per formed by the local Auxiliary officers. President Marjorie Willis then turned the meeting over to No. Omaha 38 drill team. Eight can didates from Plattsmouth and two from Lincoln were initiated. The district business meeting was presided over by district president Dorothy Janaeek. She introduced guest speaker Grand Madam trustee Cora Regg of No. Omaha 38. She talked of her duties as a grand officer and of the origin of the Fraternal Order of Eag les. There were several Auxiliar ies represented at the meeting from No. Omaha, So. Omaha, Lincoln, AYahoo, Nebraska City, Beatrice and Plattsmouth. State officers present were: State president Rose Smith of Beatrice, state secretary and grand madam trustee Cora Regg. No. Omaha; past state president Dorothy Janaeek; the state outside guard Bernice Sh uey, Nebraska City; state trus tees Irene Smith of Plattsmouth, Vina Fischer of Lincoln and Lil lian Hadraskv of Wahoo. Plans were made to celebrate the salon's birthday anniversary in March. A dinner will be held at 6:30. Chapeau Mrs. Schiber will furnish the birthday cake. At the close of the business meeting, Mrs. E. O. Vroman and Mrs. Fred Feldhousen, host esses, were in charge of the gam es. Prizes were won by Mata Amick, Mrs. Charles Attebery, Sophia Wolever, Mrs. Albert In man, Mrs. John Schutz, Mrs. Joe John, Mrs. Wm. Strabel, Mrs. Oliver Schiber, Mary Nel son and Mrs. Harrv Gobelman. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Vroman and Mrs. Feldhou sen. , Lutheran Ladies Aid Society Meets The Christ Lutheran Ladies Aid Society held their monthly meeting F'eb. 26. Mrs. August Keil and Mrs. Fred Wehrbein were the hostesses. At the business meeting it was voted to donate $3 to Polio and $3 to the Heart Fund. Mrs. Vernon Friedrich read the devotions, choosing "Com passion" as her subject, taken from Peter 13:8. Mrs. Joanne Scholting and Mrs. Verner Friedrich sang a duet. Lunch was served by the host esses. Hostesses for the March meet ing will be Mrs. Herman Han niriffs and Mrs. Hugo Meising er. March 7 Geod Cause Kensington will meet at IOOF Hall at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Liddick Initiated In VFW Auxiliary The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 2543 held their re gular meeting Feb. 18 at the club rooms. Mrs. A. C. McLean, pres ident, presided at the business meeting. Mrs. LaVerne Liddick was in itiated into membership of the auxiliary in a very impressive ceremony. Mrs. Howard Porter reported about the' dinner prepared for the family of Ollie Atkinson. Mrs. LeRoy Wilson, hospital ch airman, gave a report on the talent show she presented at the Omaha Veterans Hospital Jan. 27. $25 was voted to be sent to the scholarship winner for art sup plies ; also $1 for each of the nine Gold Star Members was sent to the VFW Memorial Build ing Fund in Washington, D. C. The unit voted to enter the name of Karen Porter as a can didate in the district 6 contest to be sent to Youth Camp. If her name isn't drawn, the unit will sponsor her. $15 was sent to the Depart ment president to be used in her Veterans Hospital Improvement Fund. Two projects for raising mon ey for the March of Dimes were conducted bv Pearl Myers. The members had a special project for raising money for the Heart Fund. Mrs. Owen Willis, kitchen ch airman, discussed the Blue and Gold Cub Scout dinner. Several members helped make 34 apple pies and freezer stored them for the day of the dinner. Mrs. Lloyd Fitch community service chairman, is preparing the scrap book to be entered in state and national competition. Membership chairman reported 90 paid for 1958. Mrs. Fitch, district president, was escorted into the room with the colors and presented a cor sage from her local unit. Refreshments were served by the committee. Farm-Home Day Audience Takes Trip 'Round World Around the World in 60 Min utes is a fast pace. Actually, Mrs. Everett Spangler, chair man of the County Women's Council, U. S. A., made the trip last summer. The 20u persons attending the annual Cass County Extension Farm and Home Day program at Weeping Water took the trip with her again' in a 60-minute narrat ion by Mrs. Spangler while view ing the pictures which were sh own by her son Charles Spang ler of Murray. The pictures were interesting and educational and well illust rated the work and efforts attain ed by the organization which Mrs. Spangler represents, in the lands around the world. Following the travelogue, Mi lo Mumgaard discussed crop dry ing and Magdalene Pfister pre sented an illustrated lecture on home decorations. A pancake feed was served by the Weeping Water Chamber of Commerce. A wet rainy day reduced the size of the crowd by about one-half that expected. Mrs. Charles Kopp Visiting Here Mrs. Charles Kopp of Miami, Fla., arrvied here Saturday to visit with her relatives and old friends. While here she is a house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rebal, Mrs. Rebal being a sister. Mr. and Mrs. Rebal, Mrs. He len Koubek and Mrs. Kopp were visitors Sunday at Bryan Mem orial hospital at Lincoln with Mrs. Agnes Stratton of Weeping Water, another sister, who has been there for some time under treatment. The Louisville and Eight-Mile Grove units were hostesses Mrs. Forrest Engelkemeier, the county chairman, presided at the meeting. She introduced Mrs. Stubblefield, state chair man, who was guest speaker. Her home is Shelton. Her talk was Inspiring and Informative We were favored with an accord ion solo by Mrs. Engelkemeier's small son. We were served a variety of cookies and coffee. Farm Bureau women are ask ed to remember the College of Knowledge to be held in Hast ings March 27-28. South Bend Mrs. Jess Fidler Phone Ashland 4-8646 Frank Ohm received word of the death of his brother Clarence Ohm, 72, of Elmwood Monday afternoon. He was in the office of a physician when he was st ricken and died in a few mom ents. Services were held Thurs day at the Hobson funeral home at Weeping Water. Burial was at Elmwood. Mrs. Virgil Browen returned home Sunday from Wichita, Kan., after a 2 months stay car ing for her mother Mrs. George Ciabtree who has been ill. Founders Day Program At First. Ward School Several parents participated in the Founders Day Program on Tuesday night when the PTA met at the First Ward School. At the close of the program, j the children sang happy birth day to Miss Bauman and pre sented her with a cake baked by Mrs. Steve Davis. Mrs. Al Hansen presided at the short business meeting. It was voted the PTA would sell Plattsmouth Blue Devil sweat shirts and T-shirts on display at the Style Shop. Hostesses were Mrs. Leonard Kalasek, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Wil bur Claus. Mrs. Mosely and Mrs. Allgeier. Mrs. II. D. Hebard entered St. Mary's hospital, Nebraska City, for surgery.
