Marlin Otto returned to school Monday after a week of absence because of illness. The next regular lenten ser vice at the Congregational Church will be Sunday evening, March 2. The guest speaker will be Rev. Milo Phillipi of Evan gelical Reformed Church of Sy racuse. Mr. and Mrs. Will Baier went to Lincoln Saturday where she became ill and is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. ,Terry Mc Cord. Mr. and Mrs. Ca.l Zaifr, Mrs. J. W. Brendel. Mrs. E. M. Rawalt attended the Smorgas bord at the Christian Church In Elmwood Saturday. The 4 Corner Club met with Mrs. Levi Wlsion for the Feb ruary meeting. They made plans for the year's work. It was re ported the canned goods de livered to a children's home. The March meeting is with Mrs. W. O. Baier. Avoca Woman's Club met Wed nesday in Lincoln at the home of Mrs. Spencer Ledger. Mrs. Henry Dankleff gave the de votionals. Roll call was "Style Notes". Mr. Ledger gave a vio lin solo accompanied by' the hostess. The program was World of Ideas bv Mrs. Carl Tefft. A film on fabrics was shown. The dress length material was drawn by Mrs. Elmer Hennings. The World Day of Prayer was observed at the Congregatonal Church Friday evening. The Missionary committee was in charge of the service. Music was by Mrs. Henry Smith. Those tak ing part were Mrs. Henry Dank leff, Mrs. Calvin Carsten, Mrs. Walter Noerrlinger, Mrs. Henry Maseman Mrs. Roy Ruhge and Miss Bertha Neumeister. Moving this past week were Mrs. Dorothy Shrader to Louis ville, Harold Moyer to the St. and Bob of Wichita, Kan., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ersy McNurlin. Additonal Sun day guests were Ersy's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Vere McNurlin, and Mrs. Nell Anderson of Lin coln. Friends of Mary Young, Sy racuse, will be pleased to hear she is a little better sinee ma jor surgery recently at Syracuse Community Hospital. A new youth center is being organized here. The mothers sponsored a bake sale Saturday. They also sold pop, ice cream, and hamburgers. The mothers painted and papered the rooms above the hardware store this week. The aunts of Mariana Lin hardt gave her a linen shower at Syracuse Saturday at the Sy racuse Library. Hostesses were Mrs. Louis Ehlers, Mrs. Joy Sporhase, Mrs. Arlin Ross, Mrs. Ralph Dean. Out of town people who at tended the funeral of Floyd Mohr were Mr. and Mrs. George Mase man, Mrs. Meta Grant and Hen ry Buschins, all of Lincoln. Mrs. Chriss Nutzman who has been in St. Mary's Hospital with a broken hip was able to re turn to her home at Bertrand Saturday. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman were Mr. and Mr. John Mase man, and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Halm and daugh ters, Mrs. Robert Nutter and children. The Vets Card Club met with Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Wulf Tuesday evening. Prizes went to Mrs. Allen Ehlers. Mrs. Ken neth Wessel, Roy Ruhge and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hallstrom. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ehlers were guests. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greenrod Nebraska City visited at the Fred Ruhge home over the week end. Joann Kollmorcen, Snyder, spent the weekend with her room mate, Clara Kammnnn. Satur day they accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Kammann to the ice show in Lincoln.
