The Alvo volley ball team won 32 to 11. The fifth and six th grade, seventh and eighth grade school boys made up two teams, black and whites, the won 16 to 9. The Alvo Orioles lost 48 to 67. Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Dim mitt and daughters entertained their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Dimmitt, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boydstrom of the Cedar Hill Community at din ner Sunday. Mrs. Kendall Dim mitt's sister Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Stickney and family of Lincoln came in the afternoon and all remained as supper guests. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Dimmitt attended a Farm Bureau meeting at Weep ing Water. The three daughters of the Dimmitt's stayed with their grandma, Mrs. Glenn Dim mitt at Weeping Water . The Misses Judy, Jean and Joyce Dimmitt were guests of their great grandmother Mrs. May McReynolds at Ashland Fri day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Barkhurst and family of Lincoln were Sun day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tal Edwards and family. They moved to Irving, Texas where they plan to make their future home. The Cass County Men Teach ers Association met at Alvo Mon day evening. They first attend ed a fried chicken supper at the Church prepared and served by Mrs. A. B. Strainers group of the WSCS and then atended a meet ing at the school house. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Menke and family of Dewitt and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Menke of Cla tonia were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Weichcl and family. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Swanson and family of Lincoln came in the afternoon and were supper guests. Friday evenng Alvo Orioles met Eagle here. The Alvo Vol ley Ball team won 28 to Eagles 20. The grade school team lost to Eagle Grade School team 26 to 33 and the High School team lost with a score of 60 to 77. Mrs. W. C. Timbiin attended the funeral of her half-sister, Mrs. George Wiles Sr., at Weep ing Water Sunday afternoon. Mr. illard Timbiin and Mr. Harold Timbiin attended the funeral with their mother. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bradley of Leabon, Kans. were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rosenow. Miss Charles Bradley visited with Mrs. Edith Braun Saturday evening. Mr. Arthur Roelofsz present ed the Boys Scout Troop 242 with their membership cards at Church Sunday. Mr. Clayton Fairfield, Mrs. Alice Vernoy and Leona were vistors at Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fairfield's home. Mr. Fairfield is much better this week. Mr. Clayton Fairfield was a Sunday guest of his parents. Miss La Von Howe came home Saturday morning and visited ' over the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Howe and fam ily. They took her back to her dormitory on the Agri. Campus at Lincoln Sunday evening. Mr. Charlie Rosenow is still at the Bryan Memorial Hospital and is reported to be some bet ter. The Junior and Senior MYF groups met the church basement Sunday evening with the leader Rev. Dick Deems. Dan Neben is better and is Lena Neben at Murdock. Charlie Ayers had surgery Thursday and is getting along fine. Mrs. Uhl Hart of Texaco, N. M., his daughter, went to Minneapolis by train and was with her father during the operation. Mrs. Charlie Ayers is wth their daughter Josephine. The Alvo Ladies Volley Ball Team played Gold's Team of Lincoln Wednesday evening. Gold's were the winners. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Boettner and three children went to St. Paul, Saturday afternoon to visit his sister and family. Mrs. Wil lard Lemming kept the two smaller children with her until Sunday afternoon, when the family returned. Fire Department Has Small Fire Call On Monday The members of the fire de partment were called out late Monday afternoon to the Henry residence, 632 So. 8th Street. A gas welding machine was being used when the gas line broke and the gas caught fire but extinguished with little loss estimated at $5 by Chief Joe Kruntorad. Mr. Stoner died at his home in Lincoln Thursday. In 1920 he founded the Western Sand and Gravel Co. at South Bend and had retired as oast president of the company. His early years were spent at Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Vervae cke of Benson spent Sunday af ternoon and were supper and evening guests with Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Vervaecke.
