Mr. and Mrs Ronald McWill lams and children, Lesley, Bru ce and Nancy of Hopkins, Minn., arrived Friday for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Gonzales. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gonzales and son Scott came from Guthrie Cen ter, la., to visit his parents, the Clark Gonzalcses and her par ents, the Elmer Shreves. The Modern Mothers Club met at the home of Mrs. Charles Backemeyer. Their project for the month was to take over the Polio drive for Elmwood. New officers for the year are President, Mrs. Dale Hall; vice ! president and reporter, Mrs. El j don Oehlerklng; secretary Mrs. ! Mrs. Simpson.who lives in the Claud Johnson home, was a visitor. Guests at the home of Miss Alma Clements Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Clements, Orley Clements and Mrs. Cllsta Holmes of Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Watson Norris were dinner guests of his mother, Mrs. Virginia Norris and sister, Noma of Alvo, Jan. 23. A small group met at the home of Mrs. Charles Fleishman to discuss organizing a garden club Jan. 15. They chose Edna Fleishman as president. Susie Cook as vl:e president Bess Robb as secretary-treasurer and Elsie Llnder and Clair Borne meier as the program commit tee. Mrs. Anna Beck had minor surgery In Omaha. There was an oversight in last weeks news. The name of Mrs. Minnie Rosenkotter was left out as one of the guests at the home of her daughter, when she entertained In honor of the Frank Buell's golden wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry, Ly of Lincoln visited her folks," the Herold Krecklow's Friday. Her brother, Dale, accompanied them home and spent Saturday night there Clarence Ohms was down 9 days with the flu but is up and about now. Mrs. Ruth Davis was not too well Sunday. So was happy to have relatives from Weeping Water call on her. They were her sister, Addle Rhoden, Mr. and Mrs. J.ohn Ahrens and chil dren, Elizabeth, Johnnie and Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Maschman and baby daughter, Kim of Deshler, visited her folks, the Eldon Mendenhall's last week end. Iede Sequeira of South A merlca, a classmate of Marilyn's at Wesleyan, was also a weekend guest in their home. Miss Se queira was an exchange H.S. student in Texas. Two other classmates were Sunday din ner guests, Donna Mae Miller and Betty Neilsen. Bluebird Club held their Jan uary meeting with Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter on the 13th. Mrs. Rosenkoetter was also leader and gave a demonstration on the making of cheese soup which was served. Mrs. Rhea Nuss of Lincoln came Saturday for a few days visit at the home of her sister, the Ralph Creamers. Fred Cr amer visited them Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Nor ton of El Paso. Texas, are par ents of a son born Jan. 27. They have 2 other children. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hill of Elm wood are the grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. James Hill and boys of Falls City were dinner guests Sunday of Mr, and Mrs. Vernon Hill. The occassion be ing the birthday of Tommy and Ronny Hill. Three of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Melvln Juilfs are quite ill and under the doctor's care with scarM fver. It Is reported that the car of Charles Marshall was hit by an other car at an Intersection on O St., called the Mueller corner. Charlie was thrown out of the car and landed several feet a way. He was taken to a hos pital. Mrs. James Wall. 87, of Lin coln died Jan. 24. She and her husband lived seven miles south of here and moved to Lin coln 50 years ago. Feb. 2, the United Youth will meet at the E. U .B. Church. The "Modern Mothers" put on a Mothers March for Polio on Monday evening going to every house. They collected $110. Mr. and Mrs. William Atchi son have both had the flu quite bad as have a good many others. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Hottle came from California to help his sister, Helen Bentzlnger of Cook whose husband is recovering from an accident. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ander son and family of Lincoln visit ed her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Henriksen Sunday. Mrs. Raymond Henriksen and family visited at the S. E. Hen rlcksen home, Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Umland and Mr. Jesse Wall spent last Thursday visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rudolph near Malcolm. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Frohllch enjoyed a dinner with the form er Eagle folks and neighbors, Ivan Bassett family while the Frohlichs were visiting in Den ver, Colo. They report they are fine, and have a profitable and attractive Motel at Lakewood, Colo. Mary Bookoven entertain ed several of her young girl classmates at her grandmother's home, Mrs. Carrie Schmidt's on Monday evening celebrating her 11th birthday. Roger Walker son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker Sr. suffer ed a broken ankle bone last Wednesday while practicing bas ket ball at school His foot is in a cast, however, it was remodel ed on Monday in order that he might be able to walk more com fortably. Mrs. Laura West visited In Elmwood Monday. Two Lincoln men were injur ed in a car collision, Harvey Kropp, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Kropp of Eagle and James Daykin former Eagle, young men. The former received a face cut and possible back in jury. His passenger was treated i ana released irom the hospital. Mrs. Elda Schroder visited her ill sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Speth at Claton i ia Sunday. .Mrs. Speth has been ill for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Muen chau visited her brother Dr. John Bengston and family at Lincoln, and also Muenchau's parents Mr. and Mrs. Ben Muen chau near Alvo Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. William Muenchau called at the latter's hnmo In the afternoon for a visit. Mr. Muenchau is recovering satis factorly from his recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Caddy and son visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Halka near Alvo and enjoyed a family din er. A brother and family Char les Holka's from near Raymond were also there. Mr. and Mrs. John Ronhoode and family attended a family basket dinner at the home of her father, John Williams, Sun day, near Hickman. Her brother and sisters and their families were all present. Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Herrold entertained at their home, honoring the birth days of Herrold, their son Dan ny and a niece. Relatives pres ent were Mrs. Herrold's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rocker, brothers Dean, Dale, and Dwayne Rocker, and fam ilies. An uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schoepf all of Seward. Mr. and Mrs. Lance elites called at the home of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Eggers at Lincoln Friday. Mr. and Mrs. George Wagner and family of Eagle, and her father, Mr. Fred Ossenkop of Walton were dinner gue6ts of the latter's son, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ossenkop and family at Lincoln Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Viox and family visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Harms at Humboldt Sunday. Mrs. Harms suffered a second stroke last September and has been bedfast for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sorensen and family of Ruskin were over night guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scattergood Saturday evening and on Sun day, a Piersol family gathering was held at the home of a niece and husband Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Kopke at Omaha.
