THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA. SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE FOUR Thursday, December 1U, 1957 Rotary Hears Minister from Omaha Mission Sixty per cent of the adults in the U. S. are faced with the threat of alcoholism, Rev. Jerry Dunn, field representative of the City Mission, Omaha, told the Rotary Club here Tuesday noon. Rev. Dunn said the majority of cases with which the Mission deals have acoholism as a basis for the problems involved. The (i(J per cent of Americans he spoke of are the "social drinkers" from whom the 5 million persons now classed as alcoholics in the U. S. have come. All alcoholics, he said, started as social drinkers. - Rev. Dunn described his own .struggle with alcoholism and victory over it. He said he found jhis solution to the drining pro blem in the Word of Qocl. The "Mission bases its work among 'derelicts" on the hope of a .jievv life through the guidance of the Bible. He said the Mission offers men "soup, soap and salvation." Men whose problems the Mis sion helps with these days arc in the 25-45 age group. The majority of cases in the past were from 45 to 60 years of age, Rev. Dunn said. The Mission had an average daily attendance during the latest period checked of 273 a day, 243 meals fed daily and 65 men given lodging each nigh. Omaha gets more than its share of men who are "down and out," Rev. Dunn said, be cause it is a rail center. Joe Hcndrix Has Recognition In Denver Activities Plattsmouth friends of J. R.
