The Christmas party was dis cussed but due to other activit ies we will have our party on Jan. 6, our regular mpeting nite. Thirre will be a covered dish supper for members and their families with a 50-cent Rift ex change. There will also be en tertainment after the supper. TfTe meeting closed with lunch served by the hostesses, Elsie Altnbu.se and Anna Falken. The Legion boys joined in for lunch. The door prize was won by Hazel Porter. The program was a recita tion by Joyce Pulu, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Puis; a duet by Mrs. LaVerne Meisinger and Mrs. Wayne Meisinger, accom panied by Mrs. Joanne Scholt ing; a solo by Joanne Scholting and an accordion solo by Lyle Engelkemeier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Engelkemeier. Sewing Suzies Have Christmas Party The Sewing Suzies met Dec. 7 at the home of Linda and Vickie Lepert for a 4-H Christ mas Party. The meeting was called to order by Marilyn Moore. A discussion was held Pbout the proper material to be used for aprons. After the meeting games were played under the direction of the junior leader, Diana Wiles. We sang carols ana had a gift exchange. Members are Marilyn Moore, president; Charlene Kahler, vice president; Dorothy Lepert, secretary; Roberta Ramge, news reporter, Vickie and Linda Lepert and Mary Petersen. Refreshments were served by the hostesses assisted by their mother. Yekel during a candlelight ceremony on Wed nesday evening, Nov. 27. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Roland C. Probst at Miller Park Presbyterian church, in Omaha. Parents of the couples are Messrs. and Mmes. P. L. Wright of Louisville and Robert Yekel of Bayard, Nebraska. Janet Wright, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Ro bert Quick was best man. Colleen McNejlv and Mary Hanson were bridesmaids and Lyle Nelson and Phil Lehman served as ushers. Billie and Joyce Yekel were candleli?hters. Jack Wright, soloist, was accom panied by Margaret Sorensen. A reception was held after the ceremony in the church parlors. Marjorie Yekel, sister of the bridegroom, Eherill Lenihan, Marilyn Sieke, Betty Engblom, Mary Royer, Ardyce Miller, Joan Fitzsimmons, Mmes. Hugh McNealy, Robert Quick and Lyle Nelson served at the recep tion. The entire party were re latives and classmates of the bridal couple. After a short wedding trip to Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Yekel will be at home at 502 South 36th Omaha. Mrs. Yekel is a 1954 graduate of the Louisville High School and a 1957 graduate of Imman- uel Hospital School of Nursing. She is now on the nursing staff of the Clarkson Hospital, Oma ha. Mr. Yekel is a 1955 graduate of the University of Nebraska and is now a senior student at the University of Nebraska Col lege of Medicine. He has been named Steven Charles. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gunia. Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Charles War ga Sr., Plattsmouth. Mrs. Vic toria Glica and Mrs. Kathleen Gunia are great Grandmothers. Son Mr. and Mrs. Darrell William son, Maryville, Mo., are the parents of a girl born Nov. 24 at St. Francis Hospital, Mary ville. The baby weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz., has been named Kim berly Ann. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Williamson of this city and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morrow, Lonejack, Mo. This is the couple's first child. Son Mr. and Mrs. William Brook houser of Milwaukee, Wise, are the parents of a son born Dec. 3. He weighed 7 lbs., 14 oz. and has been named Gregory John. Mrs. Brookhouser is the form er Charlene Holoubek. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Holoubek of this citv and pater- j nal grandparents are Mr. and i Mrs. John Brookhouser of Mil waukee. Son Born to Mr. and Mrs. Grover Rowlette of Lubbock, Tex., a son, Robert Timothy, Nov. 4th. The Rowlette's made many friends here while he was sta tioned at Offutt Air Force Base. Daushter Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shilhanek of this city are parents of a daughter, born Friday, De ! ember 6th, at the Methodist hos pital at Omaha. Weight 6 puund 9 ounces. Grandparents are Mrs. Fred Shilhanek Sr. Tama, la., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Durfey, Montmir. Groat Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hill, Montour, la. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Noble of Downer's Grove, 111., are par ents of a daughter, born Novem ber 25th, weight 8 pounds and four and a half ounces. This makes a family of three girls and one boy. Mrs. Noble is the former Betty Libershal of this city. Grandfather of the little one is Joe A. Libershal of this city. Kenosha Extension Club Has Meeting Kenosha Extension Club held its postponed November meet ing Dec. 3 at the Alvin Mei singer home. The meeting was postponed due to impassable roads. Roll call answered by .each member stating what she was most Thankful for. Following the business meet ing Mrs. Raymond Cundall gave lesson on Christmas gift wrap ing and decorations. Ten members and a visitor, Mrs. William Splitt were pres ent. Next meeting will be Dec. 17, with Mrs. Louise Sack, this will be our Christmas party, with each member bringing a baked gift and each child bringing a families. Several members w?re ab sent because of measles in the 10-cent gift for exchange. Union Couple Will Celebrate 45th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Balfour of Union will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary with open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Thurs day at the Methodist Church, Union. December 12, 1957, the coup le was married at the home of Mrs. Balfour's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton West, Dun bar. They lived for three years with Mrs. Balfour's father, Ro bert Ferguson, on a farm north west of Nebraska City. They later, moved southwest of Un ion, on the 200 acre farm they purchased, where they lived for 25 years. In 1937, they pur chased a home in Union where Mr. Balfour worked for the el evator and International Har vester Company, and they have since resided. Mrs. Balfour was very active in 4 H Club work and was a club leader for 16 years, receiv ing a jeweled pin award. She was State Recording Secretary of the WCTU for 12 years. At present she is State Director of Visual Education, and Cass County Secretary Treasurer of the Historical Society. She was Cass County vice chairman of the Republican Party for 30 years and is the president of the American Dads Auxiliary. Mr. Balfour was a success ful farmer, and ardent Shriner of Sestrosis Temple, Lincoln. He is a member of the Double club, for doing outstanding work in the Shrine. He was pre sented a double eagle with a diamond setting for taking children to the Shrine Circus at Lincoln and for his active work in this orders Both are members of the Methodist Church and have ta ken an active part in the Ma sonic and Eastern Star work for more than 40 years. Their only child, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Mullis, lives in Co vina, Calif.,' where she is act ing supervisor and receptionist in a medical clinic. The couple has three grandchildren, Alan Julian, Paul Junior and Cathy Jo, the children of Mrs. Mullis. The daughter and grandchild ren are coming for the celebra tion. Parents of the celebrants were William Balfour, old time fiddler, Nehawka; and Robert Ferguson, well known farmer living northwest of Nebraska City on the farm, in the family for 90 years. His son, Charles Ferguson, now lives there. 3 CALENDAR Nehawka Mrs. Ollie Attebery, first dis trict president of the Federated Womens clubs, held an execu tive board meeting Tuesday at the Women's Club building in Lincoln.
