A bountiful supply of fruit, cookies and candy was brought by the members and a lovely Thanksslvlng box was prepared which will be delivered to the Grandvlew Nursing Home by our president, Mrs. Bill Klcm nit. Plans were made for our Xmai meeting, which will be held at th home of Mrs. Roy Gregg Dec. 18. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Engelkemeier. Club Members Have Cookie Lesson Cullom Extension Club held their November meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Wehrbein with Mrs. Gerald Kiel as co hostess. Seventeen member were pre sent welcoming back Mrs. Her bert Melsmger. All joined In singing in unison. Plans were discussed for the club Christmas family party to be held at the Christ Lutheran Church Dec. 21 for a 6 o'clock dinner and a 50 cent gift ex change. Coffee key strips were collect ed. This was followed by an In teresting cookie lesson by Mrs. Marvin Petereit and Mrs. Stuart Meisinger. A cookies exchange was enjoyed by the group. Lunch was served by the hos tesses. It was announced that Mrs. Adam J. Gartner is the new new Department Poppy chair man. The unit voted to send money to the "Yanks Who Gave." A letter was received with in structions for tarlton dolls to be made. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Union Dec. 10 from 12 noon to 6 p. m. Mrs. Ray mond Beck, Mrs. Elsie Frans, Mrs. Don Wolf and Mrs. Fred Clark were asked by Mrs. Chas. Attebery to help get blood don ors. Mrs. Robert Harrah Sr., Mrs. Frans and Mrs. John Pear-1 sley were appointed to the Can teen Committee. The Legion's Party will be on Nov. 26. The auxiliary will fur nish the lunch. Mrs. Attebery, Mrs. Roy Becker and Mrs. F. Clark were appointed as a com mittee for the refreshments. Mrs. Robert Harrah Jr. re signed as publicity chairman. Mrs. Kenneth Hoback was ap pointed to fill the vacancy. Mrs. Roy Becker reported on Veterans Day and Thanksgiv ing. Next meeting will be Dec. 17. A Christmas party will be held. Each member Is to bring a gift valued at 50 cents. Hostesses for the day were Mrs. John Pearsley, Mrs. Ed Weston. Mrs. Wilbur Whited and Mrs. Donald Meredith. Naomi Circle Meets With Mrs. Hayes The Naomi Circle met Nov. at 2 p. m. with Mrs. R. B. Hayes. Twenty-two members were present. Mmes. Fred Pi per, Pearl Mann and R. Jah rig were co-hostesses. Devotions using a Thanksgiv ing prayer were given by Mrs. William Murdock. Mrs. Don Wall gave the final chapter of the study book, "Cross and Cris is in Japan." Mrs. Darwyn Hoover conducted the business meeting. The chic ken pie supper menu, the food, booth chairman and Bazaar committee reported on the fin al arrangements for the even ing of Nov. 20. Happy birthday wishes were extended to various members present. Mrs. William Murdock won the game contest which Mrs. Jerry Konfrst presented. The Christmas meeting will be Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. with Mrs. Dale Philpot. The circle mem bers will bring their Christmas Cookies and the orders will be filled Dec. 20 and delivered with Mrs. William Heinrich and Mrs. R. B. Keller in charge. Mrs. Wendell Walkup Bride's Brother Officiates At Vogt-Walkup Wedding Sunday Miss Margaret M. Vogt be- came the bride of Wendell Wal kup in an afternoon ceremony Sunday at the Evangelical United Brethern Church, Mur dock. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Vogt, Weeping Water and Mr. Walkup's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Claude Walkup of York. Reverend Armin Vogt, brother of the bride, officiated at the wedding ceremony. Miss Mar garet Merchant and Mrs. Wayne Kock lighted the candles. The bride's gown of chantilly lace and sheer tulle featured a bodice of scalloped shell neck line edged with sequins. Her full skirt was accented with sequin studded applique. A lace cap held her illusion veil and she carried a cascade of white carnations centered with red roses. Mrs. Linnier Backstrom of Raymond was matron of honor. Miss Shirley Walkup served as bridesmaid and Miss Joyce Backstrom, niece of the bride was a junior attendant. Carol Le-Carr was flower girl and David Vogt carried the ring. The bride's attendants were gowned in varying shades of blue, fashioned of tulle and lace. Merrill Walkup was best man, and Harvey Vogt, Jr., Unadilla was junior attendant. Seating Platteview Club Meets At Parsons The Plattsmouth Extension Club held its meeting at the home of Mrs. Boyne Parson on Nov. 21. Seven members ans wered roll call. The lesson on Cookie Making was presented by Mrs. Parson and Mrs. Franz Petereit. Many different kinds of cookies were displayed and a cookie ex change was had. A box of cook ies was prepared and present- i ed to Mrs. Will Cook, a mem : ber who has been ill for some ; time. i Plans were discussed for the Christmas party which will be : held at Keil school Dec. 14 at i 6:30. Each member is to bring I another family or friend as : guest. The meeting adjourned after j which the hostess served re freshments. Mrs. Roy Biens will be the , hostess at the next meeting on Dec. 12. This is to be a gift ex change. Vogt and Elmer Vogt, brothers of the bride, were vocalists and pianist was Clinton Carr. The bride attended Westmar College at LeMars, la., and is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University where she is a mem ber of Barbs. Mr. Walkup attended Color ado State College and the Uni versity of Nebraska. After a wedding trip through the south, the couple will be at home on a farm near York. VFW Auxiliary Has New Member The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary held their regular meeting Tuesday evening in the VFW Club rooms. A new mem ber, Mrs. O. E. Barnes, was voted intot membership in the Auxiliary. In the absence of the presid ent, Mrs. A. C. McLean, the junior vice president, Mrs. How ard Porter, conducted the meet ing. Cancer chairman, Mrs. Dale Bowman, reported a member had received $300 from the Nat ional Cancer Aid Fund The U nit is 100 per cent in the fund, also the membership is 100 per cent for 1958. Mrs. Howard Porter, youth activities chairman reported on the Halloween party held at the Lions Club for children of the city. More than 50 children attended this party. Mrs. LeRoy Wilson, hospital chairman, gave a report on the two District 6 talent shows at the Veterans Hospital, Omaha and Lincoln. Plattsmouth furn ished three numbers for the show. The Unit has made hospital supplies T-binders, sheets etc. Mrs. Dale Bowman gave a report on the district meeting held in Plattsmouth recently. The members voted to buy the TB Christmas Seals, also the VFW National Home Seals. Mrs. Sophia Wolever gave a re port on the Auxiliary's 10th an niversary party. A Thanksgiving basket of food will be prepared for a needy family. One dollar per member was sent to the National home's health and haooiness fund mak ing the unit 100 per cent. Twenty-five dollars was sent to the Veterans Hospital for Christ mas parties. Members were urged to help the post with their toy collect ion and also repair and distrib ute during the holiday season. Headquarters will be in the Pearl Myers Building, East Main. The members will enjoy a gift exchange and Christmas party at their nert meeting. Refreshments were served by the Committee, Mrs. Pearl Myers, Fay Messinger, Gladys Kemp, Fern Tucker, Doris and Lorna Raines and Lettie Hiner. Mrs. Williams Is Shower Honoree Mrs. Walter Williams of Oma ha was honored at a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. Melvin Flint, Sunday. Assisting Mrs. Flint were Mrs. Art Tcsarek. Mrs. Orval Kahler and Mrs. William Williams. Fourteen guests played games and prizes were awarded to the winners. The honoree received her gifts that had been nlared in a de corated bassinette. Hostesses served refresh ments. Journal Want Ads Pay Mrs. Hild Entertains At Livingston Home Mrs. Henry Hild was hostess Friday to a group of ladies at bridge. Mrs. Hild entertained in the home of her sister, Grace Livingston. Bridge club members attend ing were Mrs. Chris Bulin, Mrs. Carl Kraeger, Marie Horn, Mrs. Ralph Gansemer, Mrs. Mabel Tiekotter, Mrs. Dorothy Mel singer and Mrs. Newton Sullivan Other invited guests were Mrs. Carl Schneider. Mrs. Perry Dingman, Mrs. Herman Henn nlrgs and Mrs. Hazel Rainey, making a surprise farewell for Miss Livingston. Thanksgiving morning Miss Livingston and her sister, Mrs. Hugo Keyn of Oma'.ia, will leave for the west coast where they visited for the holidays. Mrs. Sullivan won first prize, Mrs. Ganesmer second place honors. A hostess gift was pre sented Miss Livingston. Mrs. Hild served dessert and coffee at the close of the eve ning entertainment. Lt. Cleason Flies Home For Visit Lt. J. G. Burton J. Gleason U.S.N. Patrol Squadron V.P. 16, stationed at Jacksonville, Fla., Naval Air Station, flew a Navy P2V 5F Neptune Patrol Bomber to Lincoln Naval Air Station Friday. He was met by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gleason of Plattsmouth. Lt. Gleason and his parents drove to York to visit relatives and friends. Saturday they attended the Nebraska Oklahoma Foot ball game and visited in Platts mouth Sunday afternoon. Lt. Gleason departed from Lincoln N.A.S. for Jacksonville. Jolly Workers 4-H Club Meets LOUISVILLE The Jolly Wor kers 4-H Club met for its organ izational meeting at the home of their leader, Mrs. Irene John son. Mrs. Rex Kelley, assist ant leader, was also present. Many items of business were discussed. It was voted to meet the first and third Wednesday of each month in the home and the hostess shrUl serve light re freshments. We will carry two project, "Let's Cook" and "Let's Sew." Our new officers are Janice Kejley, president; Linda Kay Johnson, vice president; Patty Gerdes, . secretary; and Gazie Ziers, reporter. Mrs. Carl Kraeger, president of the guild, gave the invocation Lewiston Social Club Meets The Lewiston Social Circle Club met at home of Margaret Moore with Mrs. Roland Hansen as co-hostess. It was a cake decorating lesson and leaders Mrs. Minnie Schriber and Mrs. Jess Jorgen sen did demonstration. Each member brought a batch of her favorite cookies and each mem ber had one of each other's cookies and recipe. The business part of meeting was led by president Mrs. Fred Campbell. Devotions were led by Mrs. Frank Fitzpatrick. The Christmas party plans were talked over and voted to have an all day party at Mrs. Martin Sporer's in Murray with a gift opening by each and a grab bag for all. Shirley Mae Turner, Floyd Reeves Wed Mr. and Mrs. Victor C Turn er of Nehawka have announced the marriage of their daughter, Shirley Mae, to Floyd W. Reev es, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reeves of Per Nov. 22 at the Evangelical United Brethern Church in Nehawka by the Rev. i Ivan Kilpatrick. Ms. Reeves is teaching a ru ral school near Chappell, and Reeves is home on leave from the army. Cass Home Agent Resigns Nov. 30 Joseph Puis, chairman of the Cass County Extension Service, announced this week that Mrs. Pearl Groesser, Cass Home Ex tension Agent, tendered her re signation effective Nov. 30. Mrs. Groesser has been Home Agent in Cass County since May 1949, and is now retiring to be come a full time homemaker. The Groessers live in Weeping Water and are engaged in farm ing. No successor has as yet been elected to the Home Agent position. The Home Extension program and Home Economics 4-H Club program will be under the di rection of Clarence Schmadeke, Agricultural Extension Agent, until another Home Agent is se cured. Bernhardt from John 21:15-17. Meditation was given by Mrs. Frank Blerl and Mrs. Emil Schmidt a poem, "I Knelt to Pray." For the services Mrs. Fred Herre and Mrs. Lyle Meisinger lighted the candles and the Thank Offering boxes were brought to the altar. Dedication Service was given by the leader Mrs. Carl Krae ger, and Mrs. Ford Heim the benediction. Ushers were Mrs. Robert As pedon and Mrs. Orville Muller. After the service each circle met separately to hold their re spective business meetings. Fifteen members of Circle 1 planned a Christmas party to be held at the home of Mrs. Emma Egenberger, Dec, 10 at 7:30 and a gift exchange. Circle 2. with 13 members pre dent decided to have their Christ mas Party Dec. 11 at 7:30 at the church parlors. Circle 3 will have a 1:30 lunch eon, at the church parlors, Dec. U ,and will hold a gift exchange for their Christmas party.
