Monday afternoon Mrs. Victor Plunkett called on Mrs. Wiles. Mrs. Lester Hoback and Mrs. Sam Hughes visited Tuesday with Mrs. Herbert Petersen. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Kasting of Ponea City are the parents of a daughter, born Oct. 24. She has been named Edna Irene after her two grandmothers and weighed four pounds nine ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Wright of Weep ing Water and Mr. and Mrs. George Lance of Byris Kan. The Hastings have three boys. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Sterling were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Livingston. They all attended the funeral of Carter Nielsen in the after noon. A surprise birthday dinner was held Sunday evening in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Ed Freeman, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Free man and children. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn, Carol and John and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman. Miss Compton will be married Nov. 19 in the Christ ian Church to Richard Nickles. Mrs. Edgar Burgen returned to the Bryan Memorial hospital on Sunday for further observa tion and treatment. Mrs. Oito Nordlund of Two Harbors, Minnesota arrived Thursday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. E. Thomas Stacey and family. Rodney Knaup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup, and Ben Olive, son of Mrs. B. V 8 0 The Weeping Water Garden Club met Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup. Mrs. T. H. Hanlan pre sented the program on '"Fall Care of Shrubs and Perennials". Mrs. Sigvald Jensen had the regular monthly feature, "Now's the Time" and told of things to be done in November. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen were presented a chrysanthemum plant in honor of their 25th wedding anniver sary. Mr. and Mrs. Knaup ser ved refreshments. Mrs. Helen Clark and Mrs. R. P. were guests. Hobson Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hene ger returned Monday from a visit in western Nebraska. On Thursday, they visited with Mrs. Robert Draver at Burwell, then on to Arcadia Friday morning to visit with Rev. Fred Gardner, former Methodist min ister in Weeping Water. It took about 15 minutes for the call to go through to the Land Stul Airbase in Germany, where he is stationed. Grand mothers are Mrs. Andrew Slan der and Mrs. Frank Bergmann of Manley. Teresa, Rauth of Valparaiso was a Tuesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rauth. She came to attend the funeral of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Olive Rauth. Mrs. J. M. Ranney and Mar garet and Mrs. Arthur Jones were Tuesday evening supper guests of Mrs. Arthur Wiles. The Retired Farm Ladies met at the home of Mrs. Frank Hunt. Eleven members were pre sent and the afternoon was spent in visiting. The next meet ing will be at the home of Mrs. Alma Berner, Lt.
