County Lets Bid On Insurance The Board of County Com missioners Tuesday accepted the bid of Steve Davis, Plattsmouth, on insurance for operators of county-owned vehicles. Previously the county has had insurance on operators of trucks and cars. The law also requires that bids on insurance be taken. Planning of Estate Is Of Concern Estate planning is something which should concern every man with family, trust officer Robert D. McNutt told the Rotary Club here Tuesday noon. It is also a subject, he said, many persons avoid attending to until it is too late. He said it Is not complicated, merely "A look ahad at the possible liabilities a person's heirs will have at the time of his death" Estate planning, McNutt said, can save a person much in fed eral taxes. Most people will be concerned with estates sooner or later, because all property passes through the courts for probate, (after death of owners) on the average every 10 years. Because of the complexity of statutes and the need for tech nical advice, McNutt advised all persons to consult a com petent lawyer about the state of their estates. And, he said, don't assume that because you'e not wealthy you have no estate Eveyona who owns something has an es tate And, if on death a pe son has no will the state pe sumes that he wouldhavewant- And, he said, don't assume that because you're not wealthy you have no estate Eveyone who owns something has an es tate And, if on death a pe son has no will the state pe sumes that he would have want ed an equitable distibution of assets; so the state assumes the function of deteming distibu tion To show the complexity of statutes which might affect a peson, he said tht when he went to law school at Nebaska in the 1940's the state statutes weighed 31 pounds (of closely pinted mateial) He outlined poblems which could aise if a peson failed to plan his estate ahead A main thing, he said, is to be sue that the estate will con tain enough money to pay fed ted Joint tenancy is not the en tire answer, he said. McNutt is trust officer of the First Lincoln Trust Co., Lincoln. Program chairman Carl Schnei der introduced him. Guests at the meeting were H. P. LaRue, Glenwood; Jack Hauck and Orson Perkins, Oma ha; James Begley, county at torney, and Raymond J.
