Mrs. Emily Olive and Benjl left Monday for Greenville, Miss., to visit the George Sheldon family and when they return Benji will attend college at Ann Arbor, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Thacker will leave soon for Ithaca, N. Y., where he will attend Cornell. Mrs. Marrine Wolph and Lois left in the afternoon for Clarin da, Iowa and Grand Junction, Iowa, to spend the weekend with the Gene Maier and Tom Wiles families. Evelyn Wolph and her 4-H clubs, some of their mothers and friends attended a freezing demonstration and the 35 cooked in an atomic oven, at Weeping Water Wednesday. Mrs. Fred Beatty, MP. and Mrs. Randall Swltzer and Nancy returned home Friday from a two weeks trip to the north west. Mrs. Beatty visited her sis ter, Mrs. Clair Finley and cou ins, Mr. and Mrs. C. Morris at Portland, Ore. The Switzers were guests of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fleshman and their family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Flesh man, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lung berg and family, all of Eugene, Ore. They were also gueets of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ingwersen, former Nehawka residents and now of Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen and family returned recently from a nine-day vacation to Dome Lake near Sheridan, Wyo. John Hansen, Frances and Art. were guests Sunday at the Ivan Hansen home. Mrs. Ivan Hansen presented the lesson," A Trip t the Mis sion Fields", Wednesday after noon when the W.S.C.S. met at the church. She was assisted by Beverly, Mell and Carol Balfour, Billy Mayfield and Lois Hansen, who sang accompanied by Mrs. Hansen. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour, Susan and Carol returned Tues day evening from a four day visit with Mr. and Mrs. Arch Trimble and family at Gothen burg. Returning they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beins and family, York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Keller and family, Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hines stayed at the Balfour farm during their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Edmonds Sr. and three sons returned with them for an idefinate day Mrs. Rebecca Clements was a guest for the day Sunday of the Paul Iversons of Platts mouth. Marvin Edmonds was a guest Sunday of Duane Pekarvac who was home at Seward on leave from Ft. Leavenworth. Mrs. Delbert Lindsey, super visor of the school lunch pro gram at Nehawka, and Mrs. Floyd Joerger, her assistant, at tended a two-day school for school lunch cooks at Park school Lincoln Wednesday and Thursday. Three hundred from over the state attended. Mrs. Lindsey taught a class Wednes day afternoon. Mrs. Kelly also assisted with the lunch program at Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kime and Marlin returned home Monday evening from Alliance, where they were guests of Mrs. Kime's brother, Elmer McReynolds. John Hansen was a guest Mon day and Tuesday of his cousin, Tommy Hansen of Plattsmouth. Mrs. Martin Rose was "a guest of the Bluebrrd Club Thursday afternoon when it met at the home of Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell. Mrs. Ivan Hansen was co-hostess. Tom Hallstrom Has Promotion In Work Tom Hallstrom who since his Teacher's College, has largely 1 been engaged in supervisory work in school athletics, has ; received notification of his pro motion to the post of supervisor i of the elementary and junior high schools of Omaha in physi-1 cal education. J Mr. Hallstrom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom of Avoca, was one of the outstand ing members of the basket ball teams at Peru during his years there. Mrs. Hallstrom has his master's degree from the State College at Greeley Colo., and is now working on his doctor's de-j gree at the Greeley College. He is brother of Mrs. Ray-: mond J. Case and nephew of Mrs. Alpha Muncie of this city. Call Your News And Social Items to 241 Obituary of Albert Waltz, Old Resident Albert Henry Waltz, oldest son of Martin and Margaret Waltz, born in Ridt;eville, Ind., October 13, 1872. He passed away August 17, 1957, at Lincoln, Neb. lie came to Nebraska with his parents in early childhood, sett ling first at Syracuse, then to a farm three miles east of Elm wood. He attended school at Mt. Hope, later entering the state teacher's college to prepare him self for the teaching profession, after teaching a few years he became engaged in fanning near Wabash, Nebr. He was married in 1900 to Frances Caygill, two children were born to this union, Wesley and Ruth. Both preceded him in death. Several years after the death of his wife, he married Maude Bird, who also preceded him in death. He lived at F'ort Morgan, Colo., until two and a half years ago when he moved to Lincoln. He was a man of clean prin cipals and habits, interested in all civic affairs that were a ben efit to the community. He was ati active member and worker in the Christian church at Fort Morgan and always interested in the church affairs. He leaves a daughter-in-law, Averil Waltz, two grandchildren, Burton and Sharla Waltz, one great grandaughter, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Barrett, Aldersvde. Alberta, Canada and Mrs. Myr tle Caygill, Long Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Harry Waltz, Lin coln, Oliver Waltz, Santa Ana. Calif.; a step-son, Vincent Bird, of Kenosha, Wis., a step daugh ter, Martha Wood and manv nieces and nephews. One brother, Charles, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday mornmg at 10 o'clock at the Clements Mortuary in Elmwood. Rev. Koen of Lincoln conducted the services. Mrs. Opal Clements was soloist. Burial was at the Elmwood cemetery. Pall bearers were: George Coatman, Vernon Schewe, Ralph Richards. Dcik Schonerd, Elden and Mor ris Mendenhall. Union WSCS Has Meeting Mrs. L. G.
