Gary Clements, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Clements, return ed Sunday from his four week's trip to Y. M. C. A. camp in Minnesota. A friend. Steven Scheipley, of Rochester, Minn., returned with him and spend a wilk. Most of their time they were at South Bend, enjoying tne swimming, and sports there. Mr. and Mrs. Clements were at their cabin also. Young people of the Christian Church, sponsored an ice cream social at the Norrls Hardware Store. It was the Sunday School class taught by Dale Hall. Play Equipment Installed Two swings, one for toddlers and one for older children, as well as the sand box all of which were purchased by the Modern Mother's Club of Elm wood, were installed by some of the husbands Sunday. Those who helped with the work were Robert Kankleff, Francis Fisch er, Paul Relnke, Merlin Peter son, Kenneth Stickner and Mar ion Wenzl. The Modern Moth er's Club earned the money to purchase this equipment by hav ing food sales and are donating the equipment to the Village of Elmwood for use in the park. Their project for the year is to improve the village park. Visitors at the home of the Misses Jessie and Maud Cream er Saturday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harbert. and their daughter Mamie Wright. Glenwood, la. Sunday callers were their brothers, Fred, of Waverly, and Ralph and his wife Jessie and grandson Stevie of Murdoek. Mrs. Linda Gustln Is rcover ing from a case of shingles and is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. R. Eveland. Mrs. William Bornemeler is able to use a wheel chair for a considerable time, will have the cast on her right arm removed She enjoyed the visit of her grandson and family from Calif ornia. Mrs. Sydney Moore is conval escing at her own home and is reported as getting along very wen. Council Outing Mrs. Skyle Miller. Jr.. nresi dent of the Ladies Council of the Church of Christ. Elmwood reports they all enjoyed an out ing on July 26, at the cabin of Mrs. Bertha Fitch, at South Bend, Instead of a regular meet ing, mere were 22 present, in eluding children, and two visit ors. Mrs. Henry Knaupt, of Weeping Water, daughter of Mrs Fitch, also was there. There was a covered dish luncheon at noon which was enjoyed by all. Later some of the members and children went In swimming while others waded In the wat er; and still others watched them enjoy themsleves. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Peter son celebrated their sixth wed ding anniversary, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Backemey- er, and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wendt, of Unadilla. Mrs. Joe Dickmeyer, and daughters Julie Jean, and baby son, or Omaha, and Mrs. Jim Mills, of Murdoek, Mrs. Dick- meyer's mother were afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Leavitt. They had not seen the new baby. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Rorle were weekend gusts of Mr. and Mrs. Vlnce Phillips, her parents. They left Elm wood Monday morning for Ohio where they will visit Mrs. Bornemeier's relatives and ex pect to return this way on their visit over the weekend of Viv vian's brother, E. W. Chapman trip before returning to Calif' ornia. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Turner had a pleasant surprise in a visit over the weekend of Viv ian's brother, E. W. Chapman, who stopped en route from a business trip in the east on his return to his home in San Diego. Mrs. Bert Reber read from the American primer of U. S. Govrnment. The United States is the only known county with a known birthday, viz: July 4th, which we observed this month. She told about the Statute of Liberty In New York Harbor, and read the inscription on the base of same, which it is said has been of much comfort to many Immigrants entering this country to make it their home. Mrs. Nellie Patton was appoln- ' ted as program chairman for August, and she chose Mrs. Ruth Monning as her assistant. There were 25 present and all enjoyed a covered dish meal afterwards. The August meet ing will be held at the home of Mrs. Paul Bornemeier. on the fourth Thursday, Aug. 22. About 24 voung Deople gather ed at the Herold Kreklow home Wednesday evening as a fare well to Duane Krecklow who was leaving for the armed ser vices. The evening was spent visiting and the guests trying their skills at various sports. An outdoor surDer was ser ved by Mr. and Mrs. Krecklow which Included hamburgers fried on the outdoor fireplace. Duane left Sundav morning for Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for assignment. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roman Krecklow and family from New Hampshire, who are visiting relatives. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Roman Krecklow and three chil dren were honored at a family picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herold Krecklow. Roman is a nephew of the Krecklow's having recently retired as a captain in the navy. He and his family were visiting rela tives enrnute from his home in New Hampshire enroute to the west. Their motor trip will include Alaska, the west coast states and Mexico. Among the guests enjoying the hamburger fry were the honord family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wiles and Evelyn and Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wiles and Kerry, Weeping Wat- Wiles, and Kerry, Weeping Wa ter; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Krecklow and Mrs. George L. Da vies of Manley. Mrs. Emma Oacutt of Denver, Colo., and daughter, Mrs. La Velle Swarts of Eagle called on Mrs. Harold Krecklow Friday afternoon. Mrs. Krecklow stayed at the Orcntt homp when teach ing near Hartington. River Fishing Best Survey compiled by the Ne braska State Game commission from county-by-county reports, indicate that fishing in the riv ers of the state, particulary in the Platte, Elkhorn, and Mis souri, was the best bet for the fishermen of the state. The water levels in the rivers are now practically normal, helping the take of catfish in th-1 streams. Anglers using craw dads scored repeatedly as did rod and reelers using entrails and liver.
