Mrs. Lynn Rothe, chairman, opened the meeting with the group singing of "Follow the Gleam" followed bv prayer. Mrs. Ralph Hyde gave the secretary and treasurer's report. Roll call was answered bv a Bible verse. Mrs. Klemme led in the de votions. Her topic was "A Little Time With God". Mrs. Stanley Schroeder read from the book of Matthew, chapter 6. She clos ed her devotions with a record by Nelson Eddie of the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Hyde gave a very interesting missionary lesson on "Why Study Race Relations." The topics used for the follow ing six months are based on "Christ, The Church, The Race." The goal was set for the year and each member pledged to give a cerain amount for the year to meet his goal. The meet ing closed with the C. W. F. benediction. Mrs. Klemme ser ved lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Johnson of Herman visited briefly in Weeping Water and called at the Ray Wiles, Sterling Wiles and the Robert Wiles homes Monday. Mrs. Basil Lowther and Linda of Union were Tuesday over night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and family. They visited Wednesday after noon with Mrs. Ed Freeman. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pace are spending a few days in Omaha at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Anderson. Pace had the misfortune to fall and iniure his knee and is con fined to a wheel chair. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Van Horn and family were hosts at a family picnic on Tuesday eve ning on their front lawn with 35 in attendance. They spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stovall and enjoyed a pic nic and boating. Elwin Ranney was a Tuesday supper guest at the home of his grandmother and aunt, Mrs. J. M. Ranney and Margaret. Mrs. Mary Luhring of Andov er, Kans., is visiting at the home of her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Luhring. Mrs. Richard Gibson and chil dren are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rhodes and Larry of Sheldon. Mrs. Harry Rock and children of Omaha are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bates. Women's Association ..The Woman's Association of the Congregational Church met recently in church parlors. This was the last meeting until Sep tember 11. Mrs. Stanley Wood presided at the meeting. The group dis cussed several important items and made plans for the fall months. Miss Kathryn Ellis was in charge of the devotions, with Mrs. Arnold Detmcr and Miss Ellis used as their topic, "Our scripture reading and prayer, mer gave a short sketch of each Heritage in Song." Band practice will be held on Monday nights. The band will go to Papillion July 27, and to Ashland the first part ol August, and take part in the Cass Coun ty, Otoe County and State Fairs.
