F. W. club rooms Tuesday evening, June 18th with President Lu cille McLean presiding. Application for membership from Mrs. Euuene Vroman was accepted. Correspondence from Gertrude Atkinson, National Legislative chairman, urging the members to support May 4th, as "Teach ers Day" and to also support the bill to have a standing veter ans committee in Congress was read. The Auxiliary voted to con tact the Congressmen and Sen ators in Washington from Ne braska and urge them to sup port the two bills. Maxine Bowman, cancer chair man, reported that the Auxil iary had won a citation for their cancer work the past year. She also outlined plans for the concessions at the Bar-B-Que. Cynthia Begley Is Six Years Old Cynthia Begley was six years old Tuesday, celebrating her birthday when neighborhood friends came for an afternoon party arranged by her mother, Mrs. James Begley. Quests were Mary Jo Hirz, Cathy Ahrens, Nickey and Jay Cloldt and the honoree's sister, Anne. All received favors. Cynthia received lovely gifts. Balloons decorated the party table where refreshments were served. Otto J. Lushinsky, Betty Stejskal Wed George Lushinsky has receiv ed the announcement of the marriage of his son, Otto J. Lushinsky, to Betty J. Stejskal at Alliance, Thursday afternoon. The marriage was performed at the First Christian Church. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. George Lushinsky, Jr., of Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs Ed Lushinsky and children of Omaha were among the guests. The bridal couple will make their home in Alliance. Membership chairman, Mar garet Fitch, reported that the Auxiliary had won a cita'.-lon and a $10 check at the Depart ment Encampment for the sec ong greatest percentage of gain in memberships the past year. She also reported that the Aux iliary has seventeen paid up members for 1958. Marjorle Willis, kitchen chair man, reported that the Auxil iary had served a chicken din ner for the Plattsmouth Reserve Unit. President Lucille McLean re ported plans had been complet ed for selling popcorn at the Rodeo. The proceeds from the popcorn sales to go to the Na tional Home Fund for the V. F. W. Home at Eaton Rapids. Mich. Norma Wilson, hospital chair man reported that the party for the patients at the Omaha Veteran's Hospital has been scheduled for August 5th. She also reported that the Auxil iary had received a citation at Department Encampment for their hospital work. Barbara McGraw, poppy chairman, reported on the pop py day held May 25th. She ur ged a special thank-you to all the Cub Scouts who sold poppies making the Poppy Day a suc cess. President Lucille McLean an nounced the Auxiliary had been asked to sponsor the Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. She out lined plans for the work and appointed Marjorie Willis to handle the canteen. Norine Por ter and Barbara McGraw in charge of registration, and Cla ra Trice and Margaret Fitch as hostesses. The members and officers par ticipated in ceremonies draping the charter in memory of Ed na Meisinger who had passed away on June 5th. MaxLne Bowman, Shirley Fitch and Lucille McLean, delegates to the state encampment at Lin coln, gave reports on the ac tivities of the Encampment. Hazel Fitch, ways and means chairman, reported her activity following the May meeting had taken in $4.80. The meeting closed according to ritual and following the meet ing a lunch was served by the hostesses Norine Porter, Mar garet Fitch, Rose Meisinger, and Lucille McLean. Beverage Family Returns Home Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bev erage and son, Roger, return ed home Sunday, having gone East for the graduation of their son, Dick, from Colgate College. The graduate began his work Monday at Union Carbide in New York Citv. The Plattsmouth people visit ed Mrs. Beverage's brother, Jim Warren. and family and at Chappaqua N. Y., with her cou sin, Mrs. Jack Kling. Side trips were taken to Wash ington, D. C, Annapohs, Md., and many points of interest in that section. At Monterev. Va., they visit ed the former home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beverage, parents of Mr. Beverage. Relatives were visited in that city. Returning home through Ken tucky an all day stop was made at Louisville. They report a wonderful trip, and a good visit with their son. BIRTHS - Son Born t Mor. and Mrs. Clar ence Cuthrell, Alexandria, Va., a boy, June 25. Maternal grand mother is Mrs. Julius Pitz; pa ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mr.',. R. T. Cuthrell. paternal great grandmother is Mrs. John Motacek, allof Plattsmouth. Couple Has Trip To Black Hills Mr. and Mrs. Glen McClure returned home Sunday from a vacation trip to the Black Hills. They report an enjoyable trip seeing sites of that beautiful country side. Enroute thev stopped at Lex ington at the home of Reverend and Mrs. Samuel Weller and family and also at the home of Mrs. McClure's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Wolf. Mr. McClure was enjoying a two weeks vacation fom his work at the BRE Shops. Mrs. Guy Wiles' Home Scene Of Golden Rod Meet The Golden Rod Study Club held the June meeting with Mrs. Guy Wiles. After the business meeting, the group joined voices In singing "America the Beauti ful" and "God Bless America." Featured sueaker for the pro gram was Mrs. Clem Woster giving an Interesting talk on how to write short stories. She closed by reading two of her original short stories, which were enjoyed by all. Twenty members and three visitors, Mrs. Steven Wiles and daughter. Helen, Mrs. Clara Meyer, mother of Mrs. Charles Spangler, were present for the meeting. Refreshments were served by hostesses Mrs. Guv Wiles, Mrs. Howard Wiles and Mrs. Charles Spangler. This was the last meeting of the summer. The Club will re sume meetings in September. John Henry Wiles Family Reunion Held At Garfield Park The second annual reunion of the John Henry Wiles family was held Sunday at the Platts mouth Garfield Park. An enjoy able afternoon was spent with 37 members present. All families arrived with pic nic baskets of food for the noon meal. Herb Edwards of Belle vue offered grace. The afternoon was spent play ing horseshoes, baseball, taking pictures and the little tots play ing on the park equipment. Officers for next year were elected as follows: President, Louie Beckman of Council Bluffs, la.; vice presi dent. John Wiles, of Plattsmouth and secretary-treasir.er, Mrs. .Robert Tilson, Plattsmouth. The reunion will be held next year at Dodge Park in Council Bluffs, la., the fourth Sunday in June. Couple Home After Wyoming Trip Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hild returned home Monday after a trip through Wyoming, the Te tons and Yellowstone Park. Their son, Marion, accompan ied Mr. and Mrs. Hild on the trip, but remained in Laramie where he will be employed through the summer months. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Hild and small son at Douglas, Wyo., and another son, Marvin at Laramie. George Smtih Family Returns From Trip Mr. and Mrs. George Smith and sons returned home Tuesday after a ten day vacation trip to the Southern Ozarks. A week was spent at a dude ranch at Branson. Mo., which was greatly enjoyed by the fam ily. At Kansas City, Mo., the fam ily attended the New York Yank ees and Kansas City Athletics baseball game, a big treat for the Smith boys. " : : ') BETROTHAL Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wiles have announced the engagement and approaching- marriage of their daughter, Miss Janice E. Wiles and Mr. Don R. Frceburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Frecburg-. The bride-elect is a 1956 graduate of the Plattsmouth Schools and has since attended Peru State Teachers College. Her fiance' graduated in 1955 from the Plattsmouth Schools and is attending Tarkio College. The couple will be married June 30th at eight in the evening at the Mynard Evan- gelical I'nited Brethren Church. Delegates are Mnnie Schiber, Sophia Wolever, Vera Warga, Helen John, Annette Fitzpatrick. Helen Vroman, Mary Gobelman and Ethel Strabel. Child Welfare chairman Hel en Vroman read a letter from Connie Cook, natient at the TB hospital in Kearney, thanking the salon for the money received for her birthday party. This par ty was Connie's first, her 10th birthday. A letter from partner Alpha Muncie was read. Mrs. Muncie is on vacation in Canada and wished the new officers success for the coming year.
