Guests were Mrs. Myrtle Nerud,
of Crete; Mrs. Bob Robinson,
Dr. Freeh; Mrs. M. Liggett;
Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson and
Miss Jackie Johnson, all of Lin
coln. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Shreve
have received word their daugh
ter and son-in-law, Capt. and
Mrs. Hershel E. Reynolds, ex
pected to start on May 20, for
a two-week Mediterranean voy
age, taking their two daughters
with them. He is stationed In
Heidelberg, Germany, and they
take the boat at LI Vorno, Italy.
Susan, the older daughter, will
be nine years old on May 20.

The Elmwood Hleh School A-
lumnl Banquet to be held at the
Community Building Wednesday
evening, May 2t), promoses to
be well attended this year. Dale
Hall, president of the Alumni
Association, together with the
other oltlcers and various com
mittees has been working hard
to make It an outstanding af
fair. The class of 1907 is to
be honored on Its 50th anniver
sary; and the 1932 class to have
honors of a 25th anniversary.
Fred Brockman is to be the
master of ceremonies at the ban
quet. Ed Miller, is the chairman of
the 1907 class, together with his
wife, Marjorie Stark-Miller, and
Edna Miller-Fleischman. They
report as of the present time
they are expecting seven of the
nine living members of the or
iginal 11 graduates.
They plan a noon luncheon
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Miller, Elmwood, assisted by

their home, El Cajon, a suburb

While there, Mr. and Mrs.

seeing, at Tia Juana, Mexico;
! and boating at Mission Beach,

returned to Overton, Gregg, their
older son, was returned by the
grandparents.
Mrs. George Eidemiller drove
her mother, Mrs. Viola Hayes,
to Lincoln on Tuesday to visit
Mrs. Lucy B. Lyle. She reports
Mrs. Lyle is able to be up and
around the house, but.stjll not
very well. Her address is 627
South 10th St., Lincoln.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Stark, and
sons, Terry and Tim, of Douglas,
Wyo., came May 17, to visit
his sister, Mrs. Marjorie Stark
Miller, and husband, Ed. They
have been busy visiting Elm
wood friends, and being enter

HONORED WITH SHOWERS
Miss Jean Bornemeier, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Bornemeier, ' was the honored
guest at a linen shower given
April 27, at the Evangelical Uni
ted Brethren Church, with 22
guests present. - The bride-to-be
received many useful gifts.
Refreshments consisting of pas
tel colored ice cream, individual
cakes,' and punch was served.
Individual nut cups were used
as favors. ?
Hostesses for the shower were
Mrs.Keith Bornemeier, Elmwood
and Mrs. Merle Bornemeier of
Plattsmouth.
On May 5, at 8 p. m. a show
er was given at the home of
Miss Jean Bornemeier, bride-to-be
was honored. Many beauti
ful gifts were received.
A lunch of cake, mints, nuts
and punch were served. Mrs.
Ellis Miller, grandmother of the
brlde-to be, served the cake,
while Miss Bornemeier's mother,
Mrs. Robert Bornemeier, poured
the punch. Fifteen guests were
present for the occasion.
May 19, Mrs. Earl Messel
heisr, Lorene and Janice of Lin
coln, were hostesses at a mis
cellaneous shower for Miss Jean
Bornemeier. The afternoon was
spent with game entertainment
and after the opening of the
many useful gifts, a lunch of

and mints in cups, individual
moulded heart shaped ice-cream
and coffee were served to 14
guests.
A one gift shower was given
at the St. Paul E. U. B. Church
parlors, Elmwood, Wednesday
evening, May 22. honoring Miss
Jean Bornemeier, who Is to
become the bride of Hugh Spaul
dlng on June 1, In Elmwood.
The entire shower decorations
and lunch was carried out in
pastel colors. The bride to be
was presented with 60 pieces of
china, the pattern which she had
chosen.
Games were played and a
scrap book made for the bride-
elect of her past and future, was
presented her.
Freshments consisting of bri
dal doll cakes, ice cream, wafers
and coffee were served. The
bride's mother, Mrs. Jeanette
Bornemeier, served the doll ca
kes. There were 32 guests pres
ent.
Hostesses were Edna Borne
meier, Lucille Rosenow, Eldean
Vogt, Alice Bornemeier, Nettie
Bornemeier and Vera Oehler-
king.
Mrs. Sanfors L. Clements left
Port Rickey, Fla., to be with
her mother, who recently under
went surgery on her eyes. She
is expected to remain lor tne
remainder of the month.
Mrs. Orval Miller reports re
ceiving a letter from Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Husar.'they have pur
chased a new home in Ft. Col
lins, and have moved Into it. The
house is located In a new addi
tion. Their address Is 1809 Crest-
more, Ft. Collins, Colo. Their
friends regret they left Elmwood
but happy to learn of their hap
piness in their new surround
ings.
Eightieth birthday of Alton
Miller was celebrated by his
family surprising him, going to
his home, taking with them re
freshments. Only Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Kunz were unable to get
there on account of rain. Some
of his grandchildren as well as
great grandchildren were also
there.

Mrs. Edwin Trively
Dies Saturday Of
Heart Attack
One of this city's best known
citizens and educators, Mrs. Ed
win F. Trively, 68, passed away
suddenly from a heart attack
at noon Saturday, May 25, at an
Omaha hospital.
Essie Madora Jacks was born
February 17, 1889 at Hamburg,
la., to Asbury and Virginia Ship
DeLena Jacks. She spent her
girlhood at the farm home near
Hamburg, and was graduated
from the Hamburg, la., High
School. She attended the Peru
State Teachers College.
On June 8, 1910 she was uni
ted In marriage to Edwin F.
Trively at a ceremony at the
Jack's family home In Platts
mouth. To this union there were
born three children: Kenneth
Trively, Plattsmouth and Fonda,
(Mrs. Kenneth M. Ferris) Spo
kane, Wash., who are twins,
and Virginia (Mrs. Robert G.
Plummer) of Belle vue.
Besides her husband and chil
dren she also leaves to mourn,
six grandchildren: Sgt. Marvin
Edward Ferris of Perrin Air
Force Base, Denlson, Tex., Rich
ard Dale Ferris, Spokane, Wash.,
Gary Lee Ferris of Los Angeles,
Calif., Ralph Blaine Plummer,
Bellevue, and Eddie and Stacey
Trively, Plattsmouth. Her great
grandchildren are Michael Mar
vin Ferris and Alan Richard
Ferris.
Mrs. Trively was a loving wife
and mother. She devoted 28 years
of her life to teaching the chil
dren of this community and was
engaged in this endeavor to the
very day of her death. She liv
ed life to the fullest every min
ute. Her many pupils and former
pupils as well as a host of friends
loved her dearly and will miss
this true confidante and friend.
Mrs. Trively was a faithful
member of the Methodist Church
and a regular member of the
Philathea class.
Funeral services will be held
2 p. m. Tuesday at the Caldwell
Linder Chapel. Rev. E. S. De
Spain officiating. Visiting hours
4-6 and 7-9 Monday.
Burial will be at the Oakhlll
Cemetery.

Mrs. Emilia Schroedcr
Dies ar Home At
Murdock Friday
Mrs. Emilia Schroedcr, 78, long
time resident of the Murdock
community, passed away at her
home on Friday, May 24. Mrs.
Schroeder had never fully re
covered from surgery at the
Bryan Memorial Hospital at Lin
coln last October and became
ill with flu at Easter time. She
died on the 81st birthday of her
husband.
Surviving are her husband, Er
nest; daughters, Mrs. Mildred
Witte, Clay Center; Mrs. Ruth
Luetchens and Mrs. Lilly Oeh
lerklng, both of Murdock; Mrs.
Ella Delaney, Lincoln; Mrs. Sel
ma Knape of Hebron; two sons,
Rev. Frank E. Schroedcr of St.
Francis, Kans.; and Rev. Har
vey Schroeder, of Kearney. She
also leaves four brothers and
four sisters and sixteen grand
children. One daughters preced
ed her in death.

Blue Bird Club
May meeting of the Blue Bird
Extension Club was held at the
home of the president, Mrs. El
da Lenz, with 19 members pres
ent. Mrs. Ray Parsell, vice-predi-dent,
presided, so the president
could take her place as hostess
for the afternoon. She opened
the -meeting with two poems and
the Lord's Prayer being joined
in by all.
Secretary, Mrs. Ruth Monning
called the roll. One visitor, Miss
Augusta Robb, was present and
later became a member of the
club.
Mrs. Charles Fleischman, cit
izenship chairman, read an art
icle on America's use of more
and more aspirin, some ingred
ients coming from Spirea.
The lesson on outdoor cookery
was by Mrs. Emily Gonzales
and Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter.
The lesson on county govern
ment was also reviewed.
Hostesses for refreshments
were Miss Minnie Kunz, and
Mrs. Opal Shreve, whose place
was taken by Mrs. Harry Linder,
as Mrs. Shreve 'was not present.
The Kunz family reunion will
be held in church parlors of the
St. Paul E. U. B. Church, Elm
wood, with a basket dinner ser
ved at noon. All members are
urged to attend, and keep in
touch with the activities of the
family. Mrs. Joe Kunz, reports
Mrs. Ray Parsell is the pub
licity chairman for this year.
Sunday dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Hubert Bishop were
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gerhart,
Lincoln who recently returned
from spending the winter in St.
Petersburg, Fla. They also spent
the afternoon visiting.
Death of Former
Resident Occurs
In Washington
The death of Mrs. Margaret
Berger, 44, occurred Thursday
at Tacoma, Wash., where she
has been a resident for the past
several years. She spent her
childhood in Plattsmouth, later
moving to Omaha, whore she
resided until moving to the west.
She was married .in Omaha
to Walter Berger, who survives
her as well as a brother, Earl
Hyde of Tacoma, Wash., a sis
ter, Mrs. Stella Kmiecik, Omaha.
Henry Lutz of this city is step
father and Mrs. Lutz an aunt,
with whom Mrs. Berger made
her home during her childhood.
