Meyer of Syracuse and John Edward Knabe, son of Harry Knabe and the late Mrs. Harry Knabe of Nehawka were married May ID at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Syracuse. The Reverend MUo J. Phil lip! officiated at the wedding ceremony at seven in the eve ning In the presence of 250 guests. Baskets of white gladioli decor ated the church altar. Mrs. Gene Watermeier, Lin coln, organist, accompanied Mrs. Donald Marek of Omaha as she sang "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer." The bride wore a floor length gown of Alenceon lace and ny lon tulle fashioned with a mold ed bodice, with petite lace col lar and long tight sleeves that came to a point at the wrist. The full skirt was adorned with a lace motif. First a song duet by Judy, and Shirley Meisinger, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Le roy Meisinger, accompanied by their mother; Carol Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. El vin Davis and David Albeit, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Albert, Jr., favored us with a piano accordian duet and a song by Joanne Scholting, accompan ied by herself, closed the pro gram. White Bridal wreath, violet nightshade and colored ribbon decorated the parlors. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Luella Meisinger and Mrs. Irvin Meisinger. Plattsmouth Girl In Beauty Queen Contest This Week This week will make Lincoln the beauty, center of Nebraska, ae contestants . for the title cf Miss Nebraska will gather in that f city to compete for the honor of entering the Miss America classic at Los Angeles. The contestants , will, arrive Thursday, take part in a parade through downtown Lincoln Fri day forenoon and hold dress re hearsals later in the day. Miss Marian McKnight of Manning, S. Oakleaf Club Also Donates jTb Cass ,; ;,J,;: Historical Society The Oakleaf Extension Club met with Mrs. Charles Haecke where she entertained at her farm home, May 21. , , During the business session it was vote,d .each member would donate to the Cass County His torical Society Building Fund. Several members attended a tea in Weeping Water, May ,13 held at the agriculture auditor ium, and enjoyed the extension food demonstration, especially the electronic oven. The style show presented by the Weep ing Water Home Economics stu dents and local stores were the highlights of the meeting. Members are planning a club picnic with the lesson to be "Outdoor Cookery" for June 18. Lunch was served by the host ess. Carden Members Give Flower Arrangements To Shut-in Friends The Plattsmouth Garden Club I met at the home of Mrs..",S. A,) Zwanzig Monday where each member brought a miniature ar rangement for roll call, placed on display and discussed. The arrangements were later taken to shut-in friends. Mrs. Edith Akeson, president, opened the meeting leading in the Lord's Prayer, flag pledge and a poem. Mrs. Zwanzig displayed a table arrangement of tulips, iris and bridal wreath. A letter from Mrs. Shannon. District 13' Director, was read Inviting the club members to the convention In Omaha, Mon day May 27th. Further plans for a flower show in July were discussed. Carol Henney To Graduate Methodist School Of Nursing I St.' Miss Carol Graduation exercises for 36 seniors of Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing will be held on the University of Omaha 'Campus tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 28th, at 8 p. m. Among the graduates will be Miss Carol Henney, Plattsmouth. Miss .Henney was awarded a stated scholarship from the Amer ican Legion Auxiliary, Depart ment of Nebraska. Miss Carol Henney who at tended Omaha University in her freshman year, will complete an active three years which have Included participation in choir, YFW Auxiliary Memorial Day The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary held their regular meeting, Tuesday evening in the VFW-Club Rooms. Mrs. A. ,C. McLean president, presided at the business session. Plans were made for Memorial Day when the Auxiliary will take part in Memorial Day services fat .the cemeteries and ceremon-. ies at the river. The "graves of deceased members, Mrs. Cle'b Capper and Mrs. Ora Manners, will be decorated with flowers. Tfye Auxiliary will celebrate their. 10th anniversary August 10th:" Mrs. Don Warga, charter president; Mrs. Sophia Wolever and Mrs. Lloyd Fitch will serve as chairmen and plan the cele bration. . Mrs. Alice Rentier and ' Mrs. Roy Beins were re-instated.';, General orders were read from the Department President. Call to encampment was read. This will be held at the Corn husked Hotel June 9th through the 11th. Mrs. A. C. McLean, Mrs. Pearl Myers and Mrs. Dale Bowman will go as delegates from the Auxiliary. ; The Endampmerif program was read. A , parade will be held Mon day at 10 a, m. The Comman der's Banquet and ball will be held Monday evening. National Home Chairman, Mrs. Sophia Wolever sold poppy cor sages with proceeds to go to the National Home. ' Youth activities, Mrs. Howard Porter, chairman, announced a girls name will be sent to the State Chairman to be drawn from a group of names for a week at Youth Camp, expenses paid. The name of Carol Dash er will be submitted. Carol will be sponsored by the auxiliary if she doesn't win the free trip. Youth Camp will be held in July at Crest View Lodge near Papil lion. - The membership chairman re ported 80 paid up members. Reports were given on the junior senior banquet and ath letic banquets served by' the VFW Auxiliary. . In her junior year, Miss Hen ney was reporter for the school paper, the Probe, and member of pep club. Highlights of her senior year have been student qouncil, vice president of student association, annual staff, and college world series sweetheart. r Miss Henney was a graduate of Plattsmouth High School in 1954. She makes her permanent residence with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Troop, near Plattsmouth. Makes Plans For Services Here A. C. McLean would attend chap el service Sunday at the Vet erans Hospital and assist in the serving of coffee and doughnuts to patients attending chapel. Help is asked for the Veteran Administration picnic, July 1 at 11 a. m. on the hospital grounds. A bingo party, and talent pro gram . will be put on for the patients during the summer., . k Poppy Chairman, Mrs. George McGraw, announced Poppy Day to be Saturday, May 25, and asked all members to help. Pop py posters were judged and win ners were John Carr, first place; Charles McNulty, second place; and Claudia Aldrich, third place and Sammy Zwanzig and Ken Russell, honorable mention. Mrs. Howard Porter, year book chairman, distributed the new year books. At the close of the meeting, Poppy chairman, Mrs. Mc Graw conducted a Poppy Quiz. Prize winners were Mrs. Pearl Myers, Mrs. Sophia Wolever, Mrs. LeRoy Wilson and Mrs. A. C. McLean. Refreshments were served by the committee, Mrs. Wolever, Mrs. Warga, Mrs. Jordon, Mrs. Alkire, Mrs. Covert and Mrs. Lutz. Party Honors ; Departing Friend Kenny Russell and Carl Tie kotter were hosts Thursday night at St. John's Hall, honoring Miss Zandra Nielsen. ' Twenty-five guests bid fare well to Miss Nielsen, who is mov ing with her parents this week to Aurora. The honoree was presented a lovely gift from the group. The evening was spent playing games and playing records, and at a later time refreshments were served. Jobs Daughters Initiate Members Jobs Daughters, Bethel No. 24, held initiation Saturday evening at the Masonic Temple. Candi dates Wanda Jenkins and Lois Livingston were brought in to the Bethel as new members. ' Following the ceremonies re Sunday the freshments were served in the dinning room.
