Sehreiner Rcxall Drug Four Weeping Water Men Honored For Service To Church WEEPINO WATER (Special) Ray Wiles, Stephen Ambler, Les lie Wiles and Ray Norris were honored on Honor Sunday at the Congregational Church. These four men have served the church In many ways for many years. Rev. E. K. Bauman express ed for the church appreciation of their sorvlces and said their Influence the church and com munity will never die. Deacons Carter Nielsen, Lloyd Ranney, Eugene Day and Ras mus Jr., conducted the honor ed men to the front of the church and after a few words of gratitude for their Influence, pinned on each an emblem of their services. After a covered dish dinner In the church dining room. Kev. Bauman canea tne group to order. He read a let ter from the Rev. John C. Pry- or, commending these honored man. Other Deacons then fur ther commented on their activi ties. Harold Domingo gave an account of Ray Wiles activities, from the time he joined the church In 1906 when S. I. Han- ford was pastor. He was a trus tee from 1915-1918 and served on the Doane Scholarship Com mittee in 1917. He was elected to the Board of Deacons In 1913 and served until 1937 when he was elected treasurer, and held that office until he resigned in 1952. Richard Harmon then told of the work of Leslie Wiles. Hanford's pastorate- He served on the Doane Scholarship Committee from 191S to 1924. He attended the Weep ing Water Academy from 1897 1900 and says he began singing in the choir then. He is still a faithful choir member. He also served on the Board of Trus tees from 1919-1953. The long service of S. J. Amb ler was reported on by Ras mus Lauritzen, Sr. He Joined the church In 1893 when George Hlndley was pastor. In 1898 he was married to Helden Holden and they had four children. Each of the three daughters, Marjorle Cole, Doris Cappinger, and Alice Leone Boessinger, played the organ in the church. In 1902 he was elected Sunday School Superintendent and served until 1911. The membership In those years was 370 and the attend ance 194. He also served on the music committee and both he and Mrs. Ambler sang for many years in the choir. He was elected to the Board of Deacons on Dec. 31, 1914, and served continuously until he was made Deacon Emeritus In October 1946. He was the oldest Deacon present at 81 years of age. Stanley Woods told of the ser vices of Ray Norrls who joined the church in 1916 and was elec ted an usher in 1919 and was re-elected every year until 1941. Ray and Viola Norrls have been host to the church picnic at their beautiful country home for 25 years. Harold Elliott showed pictures to the group of scenes taken around Weeping Water. Out of town guests Included Stephen J. Ambler of Firth; and all of his four children; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boeslnger of Firth; Mrs. Sherman Cole, of Plattsmouth; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ambler and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coppinger of Lin coln; Mr, and Mrs. Dwaln Eh lers of Gretna; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Nielsen and Mrs. Leonard Wllhelm of Lincoln; Mrs. Will Copple of Alvo; Mrs. Vera Bald win Dowler and Miss Marlellen Roberts of Omaha.
