Gail Otto, member of 4-H club was awarded a feed com pany trophy for having the champion baby beef at the Ash land Stir-up last year. He re ceived it at the Ashland Hatch ery Friday evening a week ago. Refreshments were served to the 4-H members and parents by Mr. Wild. E. L. McDonald and Kenneth O'Rourke attended an appliance meeting Tuesday evening at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln. Mrs. Mildred Oomstock snent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Gayle Walter and family, while Mr. Walter is confined to St. Elizabeth HosDital. The Greenwood Woman's Club sponsored the first Heart fund d-ive of Greenwood this year. The amount received was $50.70 and many thanks to all that con tributed to this fund and made it a success. Jerry Leadabrand took part in the dedication of the new Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln a week ago Sunday. The Per shing Rifles, of which he is a member, were the honored Military group in the ceremon ies. Mrs. Ruth Leadabrand and Judy attended. The Sunnie Sisters 4-H Club met at the home of Sandra Wright Tuesday evening. The girls worked on their skirts, gathering and putting in seams. They expect to finish the skirts, next meeting. Ice cream and pop were served. Max Comstock is home on fur lough over the weekend from Veterans Hospital in Lincoln. He was hurt a week ago in an auto accident In Lincoln and Is re covering. Mr. and Mrs. James Wall and Connie of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wall and family were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Truley Wall in honor of three birth days: Mr. Wall, Mrs. James Wall and Bobby Wall. Miss Hazel Tubbs of Lincoln was a dinner guest St. Patricks Day at the E. L. McDonald home. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Larson and family of Lincoln were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hammer and family. Mrs. Margaret Leesly was hostess Tuesday afternoon to the ladies of St. Joseph Altar Society The president, Mrs. Love, call ed the' meeting to order with all praying the rosary. The Deanery meeting that will be held March 24, at Wa hoo and other things were dis cussed. After the meeting ad journed, Mrs. Leesly served a salad luncheon which was car ried out in St. Patrick's colors. The Jolly Joker Card Club was held at the home of Mrs. Emal Meisinger Friday after noon. Mr, and Mrs. Frank Walton spent Saturday with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hous ton Welton, in Havelock. Jerry Leadabrand escorted Marjorie Claus of Lincoln and Judy Leadabrand was escorted by Conley Cleveland of Super ior to the March dinner-dance given by the Pershing Rifles. Honored guest was Miss Reba Kinner of Sidney, newly elected honorary commandant of the Pershing Rifles of which Jer ry and Conley are members. Emergency Credit Now Available In Drought Counties LINCOLN Emergency credit and tho authorization to buy grain at reduced prices is the aid now available in counties declared in the drought area. Everett E. Peterson, Univer sity of Nebraska agricultural Extension economist, says the grain may be used only for dairy, beef and sheep animals kept for breeding purposes. The aid does not cover grain used for feeding poultry, hoes, feeder cattle or feeder lambs, he pointed out. For further information far mers are advised to contact their Extension office or the Agricul tural Stabilization and Conser vation (ASC) office in their county. The members answered roll call by naming a good health habit. All members were present except Jack Rosencrans who was ill. The first food hab it chart was filled out by the members. The leader, Mrs. Ruth Leda brand, explained the growth chart. Further work will be done on the cleanliness and pos ture chart this week. A demon stration Is planned for the next meeting on March 22. Mrs. Glenn Kuhn entered Bry an Hospital at Lincoln Friday and had major surgery on Sat urday morning. Her daughter, Mrs. Val Gene Ewing, Denver, came Saturday to be with her. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thies sen attended the auto show in Lincoln Saturday evening. Miss Verla Livers of Lincoln spent from Friday until Tues day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Livers. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wunder lich of Murray were Friday eve ning supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans and boys. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Fidler were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr, and Mrs. Harold Olson of Omaha. Miss Elaine Buckmaster of Ashland were also guests. Mrs. Paul Holz and daughter came Sunday for a two month stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Richards. Mrs. Holz is employed in Arizona. Miss Carol Brunner took her primary room school children to Lincoln Saturday where they visited the capitol, Morrill Hall and the Antelope Park Zoo. Mrs. Albert Dishong and Mrs. Cor bin Cox also furnished cars. 1 FARM PRODUCT PRICES Farm product prices declined 2 per cent between mid-January and mid-February, accord ing to the Agriculture Depart ment. Price declines for hogs, tomatoes, lettuce, dairy pro ducts and potatoes more than offset slight increases for oran ges, chickens and some com mercial vegetables. 'Mid-February price level was about 3 per cent higher than a year ago, but was still about 27 per cent below the record for February set in 1951. They were used for the first time last Sunday. David Read spent last Satur day night at the home of Mel- vin. Hoschar. David leaves for Fort Leonard Wood, Mo-, April 7. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Emmert have received word that Fred is In the hospital having some leg trouble. Lowell Buchannen, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Bell, is improving after the serious motorcycle accident he was In last week. He is being moved from the Douglas County Hos pital. It has not been learned where he will be placed. Eight of the 16 folks who were supposed to go to Church School were brave enough to go last Thursday night. All 16 plan to attend this week if possible. The Murray United Presby terian young folks did well both at Cedar Creek and Murray last Sunday morning.
