Dial 241 Nancy T odd Cited For Her Many Activities At School AM Meet Miss Nancy Todd, da itchier of Mr. and , Mrs. Mel Todd of Union. The trophy dis play is part of her collection of prizes won in 4-11 Club Work. N a n c y has been an active 4-H Club mem ber for seven years and dur ini; that time has tucked away 4(i ribbons of which 12 are purple, 2(3 blue and eight red. four trophies won by this en ergetic blonde blue eye 17 year old girl, decorate the fireplace mantle at the Todd farm home near Union. Trophies were won by Nancy for two grand cham pions and for champion show manship of Hereford and Angus Steers. Miss Todd was featured as the cover girl of Practical English a scholastic magazine, earlj this month for her outstanding activities. After graduauon she's off to the University of Nebraska and a teaching career. George Bates Honored At Birthday Dinner A birthday dinner held Sun day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ocorge Bates in Weeping Water honored Mr. Bates on his birthday. Guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lane and Martha of Millard; Mr. and Mrs. Hoot Gib son, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Gibson and family; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hedden and Jerry and Jennie, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith and Lynn and Sidney from Lin coln and Larry Rhodes of Weep ing and enjoying the day. Subscribe to The Journal Now! Elizabeth Yelick Has Slumber Party Elizabeth Yelick was honor ed at a birthday slumber party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Yelick, Fri day. Guests included Micky Sutton, Linda McGraw, Karen Keil, San dra Spangler, Sammy Zwanzig and Joan Hoover. Th nartv fioers attended a movie, pulled taffy and had re freshments of ice cream and birthday cake. The honoree received many gifts. A Saturday noon lunch com pleted the birthday party. .. Miss Colby graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1953 and has attended Peru State Teachers College. She is now teaching in a rural school. Mr. Kaffenberger graduated in 1918 and is employed with the Kurlington Shops in Omaha. A May wedding is planned. The Reverend Fred Gardner read the double-ring service. Doris and Vivian Baier, nieces of the bride, lighted the tapers. Mrs. John Baier, Jr., and Earl Tiedeman were attendants. Mrs. Richard Lauritzen, solo ist, accompanied by Miss Maude Moulton provided the wedding music. A reception was held in the church parlors following the ceremony. After a wedding trip they will live on a farm near Hickman. Maria Jo Tincher Has First Birthday Sunday some twenty relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tincher. 1604 Valley St.. to cele-1 brate the first birthday of their daughter, Maria Jo, who re ceived many lovely gifts. Ice cream and cake, both gaily decorated with miniature clowns was served with ice tea and coffee by her mother, Marlene Tincher, and two aunts, Mrs. Wayne Rieke and Mrs. Delbert Albin. Bridal Shower Honors Judy Dodson Sunday WEEPING WATER (Special) The Clifford Cooper home was the scene Sunday of a miscel laneous shower honoring Judy Dodson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dodson of Nehawka. Sixty-one guests were present for the afternoon. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Ted Brannon, Mrs. Howard Red den, and Mrs. Ira Warlick. During the afternoon, a "This Is Your Life" sketch was giv en in honor of Judy. Mrs. Clay ton Cooper was narrator. The gifts were placed on a table centered with a set of double rings arranged on a la zy susan. Mrs. Norman Urwin assisted Miss Dodson with her many gifts. The guests present were from Omaha, Plattsmouth, Union, Ne hawka, Weeping Water and Mur ray. Mrs. Cooper, assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Urwin, served. Balfours Hosts At Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. Vance Balfour and daughters Susan and Carol, were hosts at a seven o'clock Sunday dinner at their home in Nehawka. 4 The evening was spent visiting. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. John J. Stones and daughters, Deanna and Linda, Mr. and Mrs-Raymond- Lancaster of Murray Mr. and Mrs. Al Stabens and Ruth and Robert of Elkorn; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ileim and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ragoss of Louis ville ;Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mal lette and daughters, Susan and Sandra of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Malcom Pollard of Nehawka- Christian Church Ladies Have Guests Tuesday the ladies organiza tion of the First Christian Church ' entertained at the church a group of the ladies from the Murray church, some eight of the members being lie re. The clay also marked the birthday anniversary of Mra. J. W. Taenzler, wife of the pas tor, who was pleasantly sur prised by a visit from a group of eleven from the church in Omaha formerly served by the Taenzlers to join in the fes tivities of the day. The Plattsmouth ladies had arranged a 1:30 luncheon to honor the occasion and was thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs. Nellie I Moore had prepared a beauti fully decorated birthday cake to add to the luncheon tabu?. Mrs. Taenzler was presented a beautiful serving platter from the Omaha guests and the Plattsmouth group joined in presenting an elettric niixer to Mrs. Taenzler to honor the an niversary. After the luncheon a very delightful program was present ed, Mrs. Grant Roberts of My nard gave a book review that was much enjoyed and Mrs. Kenneth Wright a vocal num ber, the accompaniment being given by Mrs Illinois Family Visits In City Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Minor of Kankakee, 111., have spent sev eral days here as guests at the home of T. H. Pollock, father of Mrs. Minor, and with Mrs. Alice Pollock Perry, a sister of Mrs. Minor. The Minors have been enjoy ing an outing in many of the interesting spots along the Gulf Coast and Texas, with a side trip across the border into old Mexico with visits at Gulfpnrt, as well as at Galveston and Cor pus cnristi, lex. iney sper.i the weekend at Dallas, Tex., with their son, Carter Minor and fam-! ily, and also had the pleasure . of a call from L. Mr. and Mrs. Minor departed this morning for their home in Ilinois. Worthan Couple Surprised With Housewarming Party Mr. and Mrs. M. II. Worthan of Murray were pleasantly sur prised Sunday when friends and relatives came to call for a housewarming party. . Guests arrived following church services, with well laden dinner baskets and spent a most enjoyable afternoon.
