Sand Tel. 2708 The Methodist and United Brethren churches combined their World Day of Prayer ser vice Friday afternoon at the Methodist Church with a good attendance. Miss Sue Kirkman sang a solo accompanied by Miss Janet Christiansen. Mrs. Guy Murdoch gave the "Origin and Growth of the World Day of Prayer". Rev. Kilpatrick, U. B. minister of Lincoln gave the invocation and a short sermon. Mrs.Harvey Bailer and Mrs. John Chandler were the read ers for a special film which was shown by Duane Ererrett. On the program committee were Mrs. George Dlckman, Mrs. Murcock and Mrs. Chand ler. The offering was sent to the World Council of Church Wo men. The American Legion of Ne- ST. Donald Webster of Louis ville was elected sponsor and Miss Jane Nelson, Plattsmouth, was elected president. There were seven speakers, four men and three women, of Alcoholics Anonymous of Lin coln. Lunch wa3 served by the W. S. C. S. of Nehawka. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Neumeister ate the local sponsors. Mrs. Jack Hines, Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Mrs. Henry Ross entertained ten tables at cards at the Ross home as a benefit for the Nehawka Woman's Club Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Royal and son, Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Royal and John were dinner guests Sunday of the Joy Hyslops of Palmyra. v Mrs. Ruth B. Pollard, 9, fell at her home and cut her hand severely. It required five stitch es to close the wound. Born to Mr. and Mrs. (Wan da buell) Ross, a daughter, Nancy Renee, March 5, at Lin coln General Hospital. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mar tin Ross, Nehawka, Mrs. Foy Buell, Lincoln and great grand mother, Mrs Lucy Lyle, of Lincoln. Miss Nancy Lou Frary, Den ver, Colo., Joy Hauptman, Hot Springs, So. Dak.; Mrs. E. E. Grunwald, Sturgis, S. D. : Mrs. Richard Hell, Lincoln, were guests the past week of Mrs. Fred Beatty. They enme for the funeral services of Mr. Beatty. Mrs. Visa Brown and Paul Julian are staying with Mrs. Beatty at present. Onier Nutzman, Bertrand, was a guest for several days the past week of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ost. He was a guest for lunch Sat urday of Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Mildred. Staff Sgt. John Petrow arriv ed at the Omaha airport from St. John, Newfoundland, Wed nsday. Mrs. Petrow and sons met him. Friday evening the Petrow family were . dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. McDonald Saturday evening, they were dinner guests of the Richard Stone family of Weep ing Water. Mr. and Mrs. Pet row and two sons loft early Tuesday for St. John to make their home. They will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pot row, Sr., at New York City, en route to St. John. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell Sr., and Ralph, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. LeRcy Campbell, Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Plunktt Jr., Enos Plunkett, Weepng Water, were guests Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Vic tor Plunkett Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pollard and Bruce Lincoln, were here Sunday to help Mrs. George Pol lard observe her birthday Mrs. Charlotte Niday baked the birth day cake. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Paap, O toe, were guests Sunday of Mrs. Amelia Balfour. ' Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wessel re turned home Thursday from Au burndale, F'la., where they spent the winter. Miss Judy Dodson was a guest of honor Sunday afternoon at a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Clifford Cooper near Weep ing Water. There were 40 guests and entertainment consisted of "This is your Life, Judy". Mr. and Mrs. Bob Long and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mc Graw, all of Omaha, spent the day Sunday with the George Sheldons. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Willis' dinner guests Sunday were Mr and Mrs. Owen Willis, Plattsi mouth, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Willis, Union. Monday evening dinner guests at the Willis home, were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Koch, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Clause, Air man 3 class Jerry Clouse, Lor raine Clause, .til of Omaha. Jerry Clouse will leave soon for duty in Japan. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Cook and sons were dinner guests Sunday at the Dale Bruns home at Plattsmouth. It was the first wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Bruns and observed the birthday of Mrs. Bruns, which was Thursday. The terms of Harvey Barkhurst, Dr. R. R. Andersen and Glen Rutledge ex pire. Mrs. W. H. Walters of Minne apolis, Minn., arrived in Omaha by plane Sunday morning. She attended the funeral services of her mother, Mrs. Faythe Lea vitt, at the Christian church in Lincoln at 2 p. m. Monday. Mrs. Walters left Wednesday by plane for her home. She was a house guest during her stay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. John Chandler and Barbara were dinner guests Saturday evening at the Ralph Snavely home at Alvo to ob serve Mr. Snavely's birthday. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. ; Herbert Stoll of Eagle. 1 Members of the Rebekah lodge draped the charter Thurs day evening in honor of Mrs. Clarissa Ross. They practiced for the district meeting which will be held at Nehawka on April 4. Mrs. Gilbert Kime returned home Saturday from Clarkson Hospital In Omaha where she was a patient for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gerdes and Virgil have returned to the Nehawka community and are living on the Ost tenant farm southwest of town. School notes The F. F. A AND F.H. A. banquet will be held Tuesday evening March 12, at the school. Virgil Gerdes is a new pupil in the eighth grade.
