Mr. and Mrs. Gene Guilford and family moved the first week In March to the house on the Otto Stege farm, east of Elm wood. Charles Nickel will farm the land and, as he lives at home with his parents, Mr. and Ms. LaVern Nickel, does not require the house. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reinke and family have moved from the Otto Steger farm to a farm own ed by William Blooms, north of Murdock, where he will farm. Mrs. George Davis, mother of Mrs, Herold Krecklow, was re moved from the hospital after her surgery to the home of her daughter where she will remain for convalescing, and be near er to the hospital for treatment. She is recovering very nicely and hopes to be able to be In her own home at Manley, before too long. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hupert Bishop Sunday and for dinner March 10, were Mr. and Mrs. Emory Malniberg and son Gary, Omaha, and her sister Mrs. Er nest Walsner of Denver, and daughter. Linda. They are visit ing the Malmberg's in Omaha at present. All are long time friends of the Bishop's. Mr. and Mrs J. A. Reed and daughters, Sandra K. and Shirley Ann, and son Johnny, stopped on Thursday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Hui?rt Bishop. They were en route to Kansas to purchase a farm for investment and then return to Butte, Mont., their home. They are former tenants of Mr. and Mrs. Hupert Bishop at Casper, Wyo. They also en joyed dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. Mrs. George Moomey and Mrs. Elmer Shreve were callers at the home of Mrs. Hupert Bishop one afternoon the past week. Mrs. George Hall hag. return ed to her home from Mrs, Fred Wilken's home, where she went after sustaining burns on her hands, which are now healed. Birthdays Celebrated Mr. and Mrs. C. "A. Bronn and Boyd Bronn, their son, cele brated the March birthdays of Albert and Boyd Bronn, and sons Terry and Steven, Mr. and Mrs. Robert James and son, all of Lincoln; and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Strelch, daughters, Rosa- lyn, and Ramona and son, Clay ton, Murdock. Each year the family has a Joint celebration of these birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gerbellng daughters Sandra and Carol were visitors Sunday afternoon of his mother, Mrs. Cora Ger- beling, und aunt, Mrs. Grace Plybon, and took them for a drive to Louisville and return. Mi', and Mrs. G. R. Eveland drove to Redfleld, la., Friday, with Mrs. Blanche Kuehn, ac companying them to attend the funeral of a cousin's husband, Irwin Rote, They encountered snow at Ames, which was the only moisture on the trip. They remained overnight and return ed Saturday. Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter had the three extension club leaders this week to receive the lesson Swedish embroidery to present to their separate clubs this month. Mrs. Minnie Rosenkoetter re ports receiving the word of the arrival of a great niece, Nan Ranay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross. Mrs. Ross Is the daughter of Mrs. Floy Buell. World Prayer Day Observed The World Day of Prayer ser vices was held at the SL.Taul E. U. B. Church In Elmwood, Friday, March 8, In the after noon. Churches attending were: E. U B. Murdock, and Emanuel northeast of Murdock; Alvo Methodist, Elmwood Methodist and Church of Christ, Elmwood. Mrs. J. T. Jochens was the lead er, with one member from the various churches also partici pating. Music was a solo by Mrs Opal Clements, a duet by Mr. and Mrs, Alvln Oehlerklng. I Murdock, and a solo by Mrs. i Chester Irons, Elmwood. j The Rev. T. H. Kampman ! brought a very inspiring mes- sage, emphasizing the value of prayer. The meeting was very well attended. In keeping with the World Day of Prayer, the W. S. T. C. S. of the Methodist Church In Elm wood had a continuous chain of prayers from noon until 8 p. m. In keeping with the World Day of Prayer, the WSCS of the Methodist Church In Elmwood had a continuous chain of prayer from noon until eight. All the Methodist churches en tered In the "chain of prayer" services, and each district had different hours, so as to keep the chain unbroken. Different leaders were at the church each hour, with the pastor, Dr. Bert L. Story, opening the service. Communion was also taken by all who attended and desired to purtake. United Youth The U V F met Sunday evenlnif nt the St. Paul E. U. B. Church, Elmwood. Dick Reuter conducted the business meeting. Election of officers for the com ing year were;Lynn Whlttemore, president, Bob Hall, vice-president. Sura Jlcka. secretary: Ro- gene Snyder, program chairman. Devotions were given by Dale Kunz, presented on a film "What Is Faith" with a re cording for a narrator. After wards there was a question and answer period. Brownie Troop Organized Mrs. Ted Hall and Mrs. Glen Miller, as coleaders organized a Brownie troop of girls from 7 to 10 years of age last Thursday evening. There Is a full troop of little girls enrolling. The next meeting will be held first Tues day In April and they will meet each week thereafter. They hope to take up swimming lessons as one of the projects, Mrs. Hall reports. Farm Bureau The Elmwood Unit of the farm bureau met Thursday March 7, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pratt with about 25 pres ent. Lester Rosenow, president, conducted the business meeting with Donaly Fredenburg, secre tary reading the minutes of Feb ruary meeting and conducting the duties of his office. Alma Marshal showed some films taken on a trip to Florl- du while attending the national farm bureau convention. She al so had some of the African films which Charles Marshall had tak en while in Africa recently. All were enjoyed by those present. Janice Lancaster was out of school all last week with the flu. - but is getting along fine now. Jimmy Lutz returned home from St. Mary's Hospital In Ne braska City last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gansemer and family called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oregg and family, last Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. George Born and Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Noell were Saturday night visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Noell. Mrs. Neva Read called at St. Mary's Hospital last Friday to visit with Mrs. Emil Siemonelt and found her improving after her operation which took place Thursday morning. Mr. and Mrs. John Farrls and Ruth and Mr. and Mrs. Robcjt Farrls and Dottle left last Thurs day morning for Ft. Knox, Ky'., to visit for a few days at the home of Seargent and Mrs. An dy Tabor.
