Sand Phone 2708 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen and children have moved to the farm northwest of Nehawka. The Supper Bridge Club met Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Pierce. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell held high score. The next meeting, March 24, will be with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Han sen. Miss Frances Hansen enter tained a group of ladies Friday afternoon. The out of town guests w7ere Mrs. Paul Eveland and Mrs. Ted Hall of Elmwood. Mr. and Mrs. Deane Nutzman and family were dinner guests Sunday of the Clifton Garrisons of Union. Members of the Junior Wo mans Club have solicited names for the bloodmobile which will be in Union Monday, March 4, at the Legion Hall from 12:30 to 5:45. Anyone who is eligible is urged to give. Mrs. Ola Davis of Manley is a surgery patient at Bryan Hos pital in Lincoln. She is recover ing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Will Ost were in Lincoln Monday. Johnnie Petrow was two years old Friday. His birthday party guests were Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Stone and sons, Weeping Water and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stone and Carol. His father, John Sr., called from Newfound land. Mrs. A. B. Rutledge has re turned from St. Mary's Hospital and is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rutledge. She must remain in bed. Louise Ross' birthday was ob served Sunday with a dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murdoch of Lincoln have just returned from a trip to Mexico. They were guests Saturday of the Elmer Stolls and the Lester Shraders. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stoll and family were dinner guests Sat urday evening of the Herbert Stolls of Eagle. v Mr. and Mrs. Dugan Gregg and son have moved to Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Hunt and daughters of Omaha were dinner guests Sunday evening of the Deane Nutzmans. The Brownies met Friday af ternoon at the church and made Washington favors. Thompson and Connie of Lincoln were din ner guests Sunday of the Jake Staperts. A benefit card party for the Nehawka Womans Club was held Tuesday evening at the Marion Tucker home. There were 17 tables at play. Assisting Mrs. Tucker were Mrs. Will Ost and Mrs. Elmer Stoll. Guests for the day Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wunderlich were Dr. and Mrs. Colin Schack of Omaha. Cathy Wunderlich spent the day with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wunderlich. Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos and Sharon of Auburn and Mrs. George Poulos Sr. visited George Poulos Sr. at Rest Haven Home at Weeping Water Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Graham and daughters, of Denver, Colo., were guests Sunday of Mrs. Mary Wessel v Byron Warlick, McCook, Floyd Warlick, Arlington, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Warlick were guests Tues day night of the I. A. Warlicks. Amy Jane of Omaha was home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Johnson were guests Sunday evening-at a card party at the Mark Wiehorst home. Mrs. Martin Ross, patient at St. Mary's Hospital for 10 days, shows improvement. Gilbert Kime and Marlin and Mrs- George Kime visited Mrs. Gilbert Kime at Clarkson Hos pital Saturday. Mrs. Kime is im proving. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt and fam ily, Avoca, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schlichtemeier and sons were supper guests Monday of the Merle Meyers. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Herman, Union, were guests Saturday eve ning of the Harold Willises. The March 1 meeting place of the Nehawka Womans Club has been changed and will be held at the Methodist Church. The officers are the hostesses. Mrs. Arthur Wolph, program chairman, announces Captain Ol in Witt of the state safety pa trol will give a talk on "Safety". The Nehawka Swine Club was organized Feb. 12, at the home of Sandra Stapert. The follow ing officers were elected: presi dent Sandra Stapert; vice-president, Billy Johnson; secretary, Ted Brannon; news reporter, Julia Jean Johnson. Other mem bers are Jim and David John son, Gary and Eddie Fitch. The next meeting will be March 1, with Jim and David Johnson. John Knabe is the leader. Julia Jean Johnson News Reporter John Hansen was 6, Feb. 19. He took treats to his school mates and Mrs- Lacy. In the afternoon he had a party for nine guests. There was a birth day cake and games. In the evening his dinner guests were Martin Ross, John Hansen, Miss Evelyn Wolph received a "Good Neighbor" award cer tificate from KFAB of Omaha. Her name was entered in the good neighbor award contest. Mrs. George Dickman had a five minute prayer service at the meeting of the W. S. C. S. Wednesday afternoon at the church.-Mrs. Bob Wunderlich gave the devotions. Due to the illness of Mrs. Martin Ross, Mrs. Dickman had a program on southeast Asia. She was assisted by several members. Mrs. Harvey Bailer opened the business meeting. Members voted to serve the Knabe sale dinner, March 14. December, January and Feb ruary birthdays were observed with Mrs. M. E. McDonald, Mrs. Marion Tucker, Mrs. Oren Pol lard, Mrs. Charles Bates, Mrs. John Chandler, Mrs. Henning Johnson and Mrs. Julian John son seated at the table with a birthday cake and favors made by Mrs. Alma Berner. Mrs. Dickman announced Word Day of Prayer will be observed by the Methodist and United Brethren churches at the Methodist Church on March 3, at 2 p. m. Hostesses" were Ivlrs. Walter Power, Mrs. Charles Bates and Mrs. Marion Tucker. Mrs. Raymond Easter and Mrs. Fred Wessel gave the les son, "Mental Health" to mem bers of the Maple Grove Ex tension Club Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Malcolm Pollard. Mrs. Amelia Balfour gave the devotions which was followed by the club Creed. Miss Evelyn Wolph reported on citizenship. Year books wTere distributed contributions were made to thej March of Dimes, heart fund and pennies for friendship. A blind auction was held. Cohostess was Mrs John Ty son, Mrs Marie Thim, Akron, Colo., was a guest. The Nehawka P-T-A met at the school Thursday evening with a musical and dramatic pro gram. Boyd who hasn't been so well lately was takn to Bryan Memorial Hospital on last Friday evening for treat ment and observation. The intermediate and junior youth fellowship groups held a banquet at the church basement on Saturday evening with a very good attendance and everyone present enjoyed the evening. Mr. Ed Ganaway who had been il for sometime, passed a way at the Ebler Nursing Home in Elmwood on Monday morn ing at the age of 77. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the EUB Church in Murdock and burial was at Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. James Mills, Judy and Dave left Thursday evening for Fort Smith, Ark., where they visited Frank Mills and wife over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Else man and Mr. and Mrs. Lacey McDonald were Omaha shoppers on Thursday. Over 300 friends and rela tives greeted Mr. and Mrs. Her man Luetchens on last Sunday, which was their golden wedding anniversary.
