J. P. Peterson Dies; Funeral Rites Today Jans Peter Peterson, resident of the Murray and Plattsmouth communities for the past 21 years, died on Thursday, Jan 24, at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, where he had been a patient for two days. He had been suffering for the past two weeks from a heart attack Mr. Peterson was born at Moen, Denmark, April 1, 1877. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Peter son, where he spent his child hood. He later came to the Uni ted States and has since locating in this country, been largely en gaged in farming. He was married on Dec. 20, 1917, at Blair, to Miss Sophia Peterson. The family later lo cated at Syracuse where they resided for a time and later moved to the vicinity of Murray where they lived for nine years, moving from there' to Platts mouth, where they have made their home for the past 12 years. There is surviving, his wid ow, two sons, Milo Peterson and Leonard Peterson, all of Platts mouth; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma Rogert, Blair, Neb. Funeral services were held to day. (Monday) at 2 o'clock at the Sattler funeral home. Rev Keith Delap, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church conducting the services. There was a large group of the old friends in at tendance at the services. Mrs. Edward Wehroeia was soloist and Mrs. George Jacobs the orgamst. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery with old family friends serving as casket bearers. Rex Young, Abner Kimball, William Hoschar, Alvin Meisinger, Lloyd Frady, Elmer Buechler. rs. Enney Swanson Dies At Masonic Home On Friday Mrs. Enney Swanson, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, at the Nebraska Masonic Home, at the age of 91 years and nine months. She was admitted to the Home through Capital lodge No. 3 AF & AM of Omaha, where she has resided for four months and thir teen days. Mrs. Swanson was a fifty year member of Vesta chapter No. 3, OES of Omaha. She is survived by one daugh ter, Mrs. Mayme E. Patridge of Omaha. The ; body is at the Brailey Dorrance Mortuary in Omaha where servce will be held and interment at Forest Lawn Ceme tery. Death was caused by a heart attack. 4 Ray was a nephew of Wil liam Spangler of this city, and has been a frequent visitor here with his relatives down through the years. He is a cousin to Vi las, Elwin and Lester Meisinger, Mrs. John Mass, Mrs Elborn Covert, Mrs. Alta Baker. Kieth Family On Sad Mission Captain and Mrs. James A Kieth and children were called on a sad mission the past week. Mrs. Kieth was notified of the death' of her father, Claude Lee Griffin of Sumner, 111., who passed away in that city, Jan 20. The deceased had been in ill health for the past seven years, following a stroke. The Kieth family reside at 305 Hillcrest of this city, and the Captain is stationed at Of futt Air Force Base. Former Resident1 Dies At Home In California Older residents of this city will be interested to learn of a former Plattsmouth family, res idents on the west coast for the past forty years. Miss Athol McElroy of Oakland, Calif., writes of the death of her broth- i er, Harold M. McElroy, 62. Mr. McElroy was a veteran of the first world war passing away on January 21st at the Oakland Veterans' Hospital of lung cancer. He served in the 117 Engineers of California, in the war from 1917 to 1919. Another sister, Mildred Mc Elroy Bishop and her husband are ranchers at Anderson, Calif., near Shasta Dam, where they have been located several years. Miss Athol McElroy stated that she has just retired from the teaching profession a year and a half ago, after 44 years of teachmg m the California schools. She states , the family often recall happy days spent here in Plattsmouth where the children all attended school. Miss McElroy states that she is a graduate of the Plattsmouth schools. The Navy recently announced than an experimental supersonic fighter was flying so fast it overtook its own cannon shells and shot itself down off Long sland last month. Tigner of Culbertson, died Sat- ! urday, Jan. 19, in St. Catherine's Hospital McCook. Funeral services were held -Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock ; in the Breland Funeral Chapel at McCook with interment at the -Lewiston Cemetery. Mrs. Tigner was born in Cass County. She is survived by Mr.' Tigner, two sons, Drost, of Mc-; Cook, and Louis of Kansas City; a daughter, Mrs. W. Van Hoozer of Los Angeles; and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Leach of Platts mouth.
