The next meeting will be at John Otley's home, mortheast of Eagle. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Otley. The Evening Eagles Extension Club members met on Tuesday evening for their Christmas par ty, Dec. 11. It was held at the home of Mrs. Howard Root. The evening was spent playing games, after which an exchange of gifts with the secret sisters was held, proving to be the highlight of the evening. Mes- dames Morris Muenchau and Keith Trumble were in charge of the interesting games. The next meeting will be on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15 at the home of Mrs. Ernest Dietze. Mrs. Laura West is enjoying a few days visit at the home of her daughter and family, the Samuel Gay's at Des Moines, la. celebrating the Christmas holi days. She left on Friday via bus. Mrs. Carrie Schmidt left last Tuesday morning via train, for Concord, Calif., to visit her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Borgman, former Eagle residents. Mrs. Schmidt will also visit her sons, . Roy and Raymond Beach and fam ilies, also in California, for a couple of months. Mr. and Mrs. William Knaup of Murdock visited their daugh ter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root, Sunday evening and attended the Methodist Church School Christmas pro gram at the church. They re turned home late in the eve ning, accompanying their daugh ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Herr. of Humboldt, who also attended the program and remained over at the parents home, Monday. Mr.' and Mrs. Eldon Sor ensen, and family, of Ruskin, were also present for the family Christmas dinner and fesjtive occasion. Mr. and. Mrs. H. N. Erskine Jr., and daughters, motored to Columbia Mo., to spend the Christmas holidays at Mrs.Ers kine's parents, home, Mr. and Mrs. Alfonzo Wibbels, at that city. Mrs. Luella McKay of Waverly spent a few days visiting her son, Mr. and Mrs. David Mc Kay and family last week. Mrs. Irvin Stall and daughter, Mona are enjoying a trip via bus "to California, Mo. visiting Mrs. Stall's daughter and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Burl- mgame, tor weeK or so. A family Christmas dinner was enjoyed at the Jesse Wall home Monday, when their son, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wall and family of Lincoln, daughters and families, the Arthur Thomsen's of Palmyra, and Paul B. John son's of Alvo, spent the day, enjoying the usual Christmas festivities. Mr. and JVIrs.' George Althouse will observe their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the home of their son.- Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Althouse, who live y2 mile south of the hon ored couple and parents. The open house will be observed from 2 to 5 p. m. New Years Day. Besides the eldest son, Floyd, their other children in clude sons, Keith at Lincoln. and Clyde, Eagle, a daughter, Mrs. Inez Munn at Waverly They also have seven grand children. Friends and relatives are in vited to attend without further invitation. Mr. and Mrs. George Kirk- patrick and daughter of Wichita, Kans., visited Mrs.-Kirkpatricks parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillip and daughter, Grace, last weekend, arriving from Wichita, on Saturday and left on Christmas Day. Mrs. Hattie Burton, sister of Mrs. Phillips and daughter, Mrs. Tuckness and latter s daughter, Patricia, of Denver, Colo., spent a couple of days visiting at the Phil lips home, also returning home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs, Howard Stege, and family of Elmwood Mrs. Florence Webber and family of Syracuse, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rudolph and family of Eagle, and Mr, and Mrs. Willis Stub bendeck and family of Unadil la enjoyed the Christmas fam ily dinner at the parents home, Mr. and Mrs. John Rutledge, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard .Root and family attended the family Christmas dinner at the home of Mrs. Root's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Knaups at Mur dock on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Root and family, spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Root's broth er, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knaup at Weeping Water, Sunday. Miss Kaye Marie Swarts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. La Vell Swarts, is enjoying the Christmas University of Nebras ka vacation during the holidays at the parents home. Miss My ma Richards, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rich ards, is also spending and en joying the vacation from Univer sity of Nebraska students for Christmas and New Yars at the home of parents until Jan. 7. The Eagle Community club members met at the Eagle schoolhouse last Wednesday evening, with Mr. and Mrs. Doyld Gump and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Althouse co-hosts and co-hostesses for the evening. A delightful time was enjoyed by those attending the meet ing. The Eagle O. E. S. Kensing ton met at Mrs. Hallie Stew art's home for its Christmas meeting on Wednesday after noon. An exchange of gifts was one of the specialities during the afternoon. Mrs. Emma Orcutt, of Denver Colo., is visiting at her daugh ter's home, the Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Swarts, during the holi days. Mrs. Orcutt accompanied her son and family from Den ver to Fremont and was met by her daughter at the latter city. The son and family will visit the daughter-in-laws par ents, during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swarts and family, Ashland, spent Sun day at the home of Mr. Swarts, brother, Mr. and Mrs. La Veil Swarts, and family and enjoyed the Christmas dinner together in keeping with the festive oc casion. A polio victim at age of one year, and has always devoted herself to the needs of others having gone into her brothers home at the wife's death and giving her love and attention to the small chil dren. Her sister-in-law: the late Mrs. Walker) was the sister of Mrs. Fred Rudolph of Malcolm former Eagle resident). Mr. and Mrs. Duane Novak and sons of Crete spent Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Novak's .parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips and the visiting relatives from Colorado. The Eagle Methodist Church school program was presented at the church Sunday evening. The Junior department, Super intendent, Mrs. Clinton West- lake, in charge and teachers Miss Marilyn Habel, Miss Jan ice Frohlich and Glenda Wall assisted, with recitations, songs and solos. The Se"nior Department in cluded the Intermediate . Class pantomining a special Christ mas carol. Mrs. John Fischer, teacher, assisted by the choir members. The choir, audience, high school class, teacher Mrs. Jesse Westlake, and Older Adult Class, 'teacher, Mrs. Don Chris tensen concluded the program with the traditional Christmas carol songs, followed by the dis tribution of gifts from the tree and the usual treats for all. Rev. and Mrs. Don Christen sen left on Monday morning for Chappell, to spend the Christ mas holiday at the homes of their parents and other rela tives. Mrs. Moore of Weeping Water and son, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Moore and family, also at Weeping Water spent Christmas day at the home of Mrs. Moores daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ransford. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Richards and daugh ter Myrna, were also present for the family dinner. The Home Economic Class entertained at Home Economic room with an informal tea for the Mothers and teachers from 2:45 to 4 p. m. with Mrs. Young the home ec. instructor in charge. The Christmas decor ations were especially attractive to the visitors attending and the serving and refreshments were commendable. The Rudolph Umland family of Lincoln visited Mrs. Umland parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Henry Rockenbach Sunday. The-lam-ily Christmas dinner was enjoy ed at the Umland home in Lin coln. Mr. Eddie Winkler of Kear ney remained several days at the home of his father. Mr. George Winkler, following the funeral services for his . moth er, on last Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Airs. Herman Kirch hoff motored to Weeping Water, and spent Christmas evening at the home of Mr. Kirchhoff 's mother, Mrs. Ella Kirchhoff. Dr. and Mrs. Russel Colbert and family of Louisville, Ky., visited at the home of Mrs. Colbert's father, Mr. Edward Gerhard on last Monday eve ning. The guests had motored to Nebraska to attend the 5oih wedding anniversary open house honoring Dr. Colbert's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Colbert at Lincoln last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Som mers and family of Pleasant Dale, visited Mrs. Sommer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Cantley on Tuesday. One of the Sommer's daughters had recent ly returned from the hospital and is recovering satisfactorily. Mrs. Sommers is the former Melba Irene Cantley, graduate of Eagle schools. The John Fischers spent Christmas day at the home of Mr. Fischers mother, Mrs. Le na Fischer and Mary at Elm wood. Miss Freda Reitter journeyed to Millard, Christmas day and enjoyed Christmas dinner and visit at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plymale and family. . A family Christmas dinner, was enjoyed at the Carl John son Sr., home on Tuesday, when Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heier of Alvo, Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Johnson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, Jr., also of Alvo, were at the parents home. Mrs. Carl Johnson Seniors sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. . Edward Schuelke and son, Barry, of Alvo and a daugh ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Packard of Cheyenne, Wyo., ( the former Brooks Schuelke) were also at the Johnson home.. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Schuelke and two chil dren of Dover, Dela., were un able to be present for the fes tive occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rudolph of Malcolm, and daughter Phyl lis, of North Platte called at the John Fischer home, Wed nesday afternoon, .having visit ed relatives at Elmwood. They were supper" guests at Mr. Rudolph's sister's home, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wall and spent the evening.
