THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI -WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE FOUR Thursday, December 27, 1956 Good Luck Club Has Covered Dish Luncheon, Meeting The Good Luck Club held its regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Harry Stock in Murdock, on December 19. A covered dish luncheon was held at 12:30. Gifts of clothing were bought by each member and will be taken to the Child Saving In stitute. There were many nice articles of clothing, such as dresses, pajamas, shirts, blan kets, and etc. These were given instead of each member ex changing gifts, for "Christmas. After dinner Mrs. Lyle Stock, and Mrs. Al. Backemyer en tertained the guests with games. There were 15 members pres ent, and two visitors. Next meeting will be, held at the home of Mrs. Vernon Schewe. Christmas At The John Sheard Home The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Sheard was the scene of a' family gathering Christmas day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Sheard and family of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Max Tay lor and family of Council Bluffs, la., and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pat terson. All enjoyed a bounti ful turkey dinner. ".Christmas greetings were re ceived by phone from another son, John, at Emporia, Kans. Wednesday the family attend ed funeral services in Nebraska City of Mrs. Emma Gillispie, sister of Mr. Sheard. A short business meeting of the Eagles Auxiliary was held at the Eagles Hall on Thursday evening with president Helen Jordan, presiding. Guests were present from Omaha Aeri 33, Reports by suditor Edith Hal ey and secretary Dorothy Jana- cek were given on funds of the unit. A donation was made to the Hastings State Hospital' towards an organ for the chapel. Baskets for the. needy families will be distributed Saturday. Balloting was held on one can didate and initiated from a pre vious ballot was Mary Margaret Barker. Immediately following the Christmas party was held in the beautifully decorated hall. Car oling, playing games and gift exchange were diversions of the evening. Tables were covered in white with streamers of red and green through the center. Indi vidual snowballs with lighted candles, Christmas cookies, nut3 mints and coffee were served. Chairman Shirley Hull was as sisted by Marie O'Donnell, Vlas ta Land, Margie Willis and Mary O'Donnell. Here From The West Const Mr. and Mrs. Francis Warren and sons, Steve and Jeff of Plamdale, Calif., are here for a visit with relatives and friends They are enjoying their stay at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Beverage and Mrs. Edna Boynton, sisters of Mr. Warren, Mr. Warren is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Warren and sons, Steve and Jeff arrived Sunday for a surprise Holiday visit in the city from their home in Palmdale, Calif. Edward Smith of this city who has been ill for the past few weeks is again at St. Marys Hospital in Nebraska City and is expecting to undergo an oper ation this week for a kidney and bladder ailment. Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Wiles and children of Grand Island were visitors here for the holiday- season with Mrs. Pearl Wiles, mother of Earl, as well as at Weeping Water with Mrs. George Wiles, grandmother of Earl, Mrs. Charles Everett, mother of Mrs. Wiles and with Mr. and Mrs. George Wiles, Jr., a brother. ' Mr. and "Mrs. John Bajeck and Mrs. Lillian Livingston were dinner hosts Christmas day to Mrs. Alyce Sharpnack of this city and George Lopp of Ne-hawka. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fornoff had all of thir children and grandchildren home for Christ mas day. The families are, Mr and Mrs. Leonard Fornoff of Murdock, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fornoff and family and Mr. and Airs. Merle Iske and family, all of Fort Crook and Mr. and Mrs Gilbert Fornoff and family of Weeping Water. 1 Mrs. Albert Altschaffl is in St. Catherine's Hospital with a broken hip. Mrs. Altschaffl was down town Saturday evening- when she fell and suffered the injured hip. The patient is in room 121. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Uher and children were at Howells for Christmas day, visiting there with relatives. Reverend and Mrs. Shera Gregory and family are visiting the pastor's family at Bethany, 111., during the holiday. Mrs. Ed Murphy and family 01 El Paso, Tex:, are here visit ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Altschaffl. Christmas dinner guests at the Theodore Ptak home were Mr. and Mrs. John Vallery and Dean French. John is a freshman at the Uni versity of Southern California, where he is studying electron ics. He is also employed in the labratory at the Hughes Air craft Corporation. Mrs. Alvadore Tilscn fell at the family home on a waxed floor and broke her left arm, Dec. 16th. Mrs. Tilson is carrying the arm in a cast. Family Gathering At Tom Walling Home Christmas day was a very pleasant one at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Wall ing, bringing together members of their family group. The fes tive Christmas dinner at noon was the center of attraction. Those attending were Mr.- and Mrs. George Mayabb and sons, Ricky and Mike of Kansas City, Mo. M-Sgt. and Mrs. Glen White and daughters, , Debbie and Denise of this city 'and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. , Rickard also of Plattsmouth. . - The occasion was not only Christmas but also the birthday anniversary of Rickey Mayabb, one of the grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Walling. Mr. and Mrs. James Yelick had an enjoyable Christmas gathering of nearly all of their children and their families. Those able to be present were Mr. and Mrs.Edward Yelick and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Herless Yelick of Des Moines, la.; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Leacock of Lin coln; Floyd Yelick and son, Floyd, Jr., of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Nell White of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Yelick and Elizabeth Ann, Mr. and Mrs. James Yelick, Jr., and son, Donnie, and Mrs. Catherine Hall all of Plattsmouth. Coach and Mrs. John Ad kins and family spent Christmas in Columbia Mo., with Mrs;., Adkins' sister. The family returned Wed nesday evening. Co. 10th Inf. Div., A. P. O. 139, New York, New York. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Renner and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beins entertained Saturday evening at the Renner home near Murray at a Christmas party. The ev ning was spent playing cards and games with prizes going to Ben ne " Beins and Jim Carmiehael. Attending the party were Mr. and Mrs. Don Beins; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brink; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Baumgart; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baumgart; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carmiehael and Mr. and Mrs. Joy Haswell. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Swatek and Mr. and Mrs. William Nel son and family had Christmas dinner with the Swatek's daugh ter and family in Omaha. They were joined at the Theodore Spaustat home by the George Swatek family. Holiday greet ings came to the family gath ering by telephone from Mr. and Mrs. William Gillogly and fam ily of New York. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Furse and son, "Butch", who is home from the University of Nebras ka for the holidays, were guests of Mrs. Furse' parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Polley, in Valley View Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Ed L. Kanka of Omaha, drove to Plattsmouth Tuesday and took back with them his sister, Mrs. Ann II. Pittman where she was their guest over Christmas. At night before returning her to her home, they drove through the city to see the prize-winning decorated homes which was a sight well worth seeing. The cost of the decorations must have far exceeded the prize money but it was evidently a work of love of the Christmas spirit. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Carr and son, John, are visiting in Colorado with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carr. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Glea son spent Christmas in York with relatives and friends. Christmas Eve guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jahrig were Mrs. Jahrig's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt. Christmas day din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt were the Jahrigs and Mr. and Mrs. William Heinrich. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wos ter and family of Omaha were Christmas day guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jahrig. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Wood and baby, Jeanie, had Christ mas dinner with Mr. and Mrs. William Spradlin and children. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Meisinger and son, Richard, are visiting in the ctiy from their home in St. Paul. They are guests in the Walter Engelkemeir hime at Murray, and visiting their many friends and relatives here. Mary Catherine Lessman of Lincoln is a houseguest through the holidays of her sister, Helen Lessman. . Cass County's Greatest Newspaper The Plattsmouth Journal Tom Zastera arrived home Monday morning from Camp Chaffee, Ark., to ?pend the holi day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zastera. Other guests at the Zastera home were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morgenstern and two sons of Duluth, Minn. The Morgenstern famly departed for their home Wednesday morn ing. Joe Hoschar entered the Veterans Hospital in Omaha Sunday and submitted to an appendectomy Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob White had as Christmas guests their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud White of Lincoln and Mrs Philip Kehne of. this city, sister of Mr. White. Also Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alkire were visitors during the evening. Union Couple Wed At Sidney, Iowa Francine Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewy Jones, Union, and Ronald Mead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Mead, also of Union, were married Saturday at the Methodist Church in Sidney, la., with the Reverend James Dendler, pas tor, officiating. Janice Mead, sister of the bridegroom, was the maid of honor and Jim Atterbery, Un ion, was the best man. The bride is a 1956 graduate of Union High School. The bride groom is a 1955 graduate of Union High School. He is now employed in Omaha. The couple will live in Ne braska City. 1 1 V in; Son Born to Mr. and Mrs. Myron Rice, Dec. 19, 1956 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. The baby has been named Ed Edison and weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Mumm and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Rice. Son Mr. and Mrs. Van H. White are the parents of a son, Mark Allen, 8 pounds, 6 ounces, born Dec. 15, 1956. Maternal grand parents are Mr. ,and Mrs. Charles Janacek and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. C. J. White.
