THE PLATTSMOUTH JOURNAL j PAGE SIX Section B Thursday, November 22, 1956 Cass County Woman Dies At Residence Mabelle Winn Phone 420 Mrs. Gertie Nickel passed a way at her home northwest of Elmwood Monday night, Nov. 12 at the age of 87. She leaves to mourn her passing, four sons. Herman, at Bennett, Warter at Alvo, John and Philip, daugh ters Jennie, Katie and Maggie all at home. Her husband and two daugh ters preceded her in death. She leaves two grandsons. Keith and Paul Nickel, a number of rela tives and friends. Casket bearers were Orrist Cook, Wendell Cook, Frank Buell, Ralph Dorr, Raymond Evelyn and Clarence Ohms. She was laid to rest in the Elmwood cemetery. The Mothers and Daughters Council Club met at the home of Mrs. Mattie Skinner Friday afternoon with 22 members and 3 children present. Mrs. Irene Kellogg had the lesson: a Thanksgiving story. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Alpha Bennett and Mrs. Thelma Howe. The Women's Reading Club met at the home of Mrs. Lee Elliott Thursday afternoon, Nov. 15. The program of health was in charge of Mrs.Ralph Dream er and Mrs. A. B. Stroemer. The first part of the program was the viewing of a fiim pro duced by the American Can cer Society. Their factor con cerning T. B. wrere presented and Score yourself sheets were checked and pamphlets were distributed. Lunch was served by Mrs. Elliott. The Women's Society of Chris tian Service met at the hurch Wednesday Nov. 7, with the president, Mrs. Harold Nickel presiding. Mrs. Archie Miller gave a re port on World Federation of church women. Mrs. A. B. Stroemer, Secretary of Missions, gave, the missionary minutes. Mrs. John Knapp had charge of the worship service, and les son. The theme being "The Uni ted Nations". Carol Printz sang a special solo "No man is an island". The hostesses were : Mrs. Clyde Johnson, Mrs. Evar Root and Mrs Grace Brunkow. Mrs. Archie Miller. Mrs. Mar ion Kelloff and Mrs. A. B. Sroemer attended guest day services at Elmwood Methodist church on Tuesday Nov. 13. This was one of the several meetings of the Lincoln District Womajns Society of Christian Service. Mr. Art Skinner returned home Sunday from Conway, la., where he went Wednesday to help move a house. Mrs. Max Reed and baby of Prairie Home spent Wednesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bennett. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Copple and children and Mrs. Grace Copple were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Copple at Lincoln. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Kellogg were their daughter Elinor and baby daughter of Lincoln. Mrs. Elmer Klyver and Mrs. Sunday dinner honoring the birthday of their sister, Mrs. Ar thur Klyver of Lincoln. Ralph Winn and Mr. Klyver were other guests. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Klyver will leave Tuesday for Minneapolis, Minn., to spend Thanksgiving with their two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kinney and two children and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kinney left Monday for California to spend the win ter. Mrs. Kinney's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kyles, will stay on the farm and look after things while they are gone. Mrs. Mabelle Winn received a letter from her brother at Elat, Mo., saying he had killed a deer on his place. Ralph Winn and his mother were Tuesday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cheever, Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Halvorsen and children of Eagle wTere Sat urday evening supper guests of Mrs. Halvorsen's mother, Mrs. Mabel Elliott. Mrs. Elliott's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wilson of Roca were Sunday afternoon guests.
